Gamestop is selling new games as used! Discuss.

Uhh, maybe 5 minutes before it hits the floor? 95% of the titles come in and the same day they are sold. Certain titles may arrive early to tie in with a movie (Van Helsing comes to mind), or if the game is in huge demand (Halo 2).

Also, the employee may have bought the game and hated it so he traded it back so far. He simply lied to get the sale from you.

Funny thing, I see used copies of GC RE2 and 3 at every Gamestop I go to know, priced at $39.99. I just thought it was people trading it in after the reprint but it makes sense that GS would sell them as used if the new price was no longer in the system - the game had been OOP for a while before the reprint.

They also did this with a bunch of SNES games (Super Tennis, Zelda: LTTP), Genesis games (Eternal Champions, Light Crusader) and PS1 games (Pandemonium, Juggernaut) a few years back. I asked the employee why these obviously sealed games were being sold as used and he stated that only the used prices were in the system so they had to sell them as used.
