$20 for Portal 2? $25 for Sly Cooper collection? $15 for Bully? The FIRST Assassin's Creed on PS3 is getting $15?! What year is this?!

Proof since some people doubt what I say :)cry:)
NOn-pro member here, just flipped 8 copies of portal 2. did BBY pricematch of kmart.

yes i did, and i had to go to 4 stores to do it, they would only take one of each.
So. You, just, traded 8 copies of Portal 2 to 4 GSs that would only take 1 copy each?:whistle2:s
So. You, just, traded 8 copies of Portal 2 to 4 GSs that would only take 1 copy each?:whistle2:s
I bet he traded one PS3 copy and one 360 copy at each Gamestop.
I have been in line with people who are buying $120 of used games and the rep is like it will cost you $3 to get PUR pro and the guy is like nope don't need it. It boggles my mind.
I don't see why it should. Some people don't like having a ton of different cards for various places, some may not even go there all that much, and others just aren't informed on what it is.

I mean to each their own.
Both GS I went to just had cards for the Kindle promo..
I asked if they would get any in the future and they werent sure.

But I hope they do as well, considering I traded in some games in hopes to spend it on the cards
My local GS had a bunch of $25 Kindle cards. I traded in 5 titles from the PUR list and had no issues with the promo being overidden by the 3/$10 promo.
I don't get the hate over the Pro account - it is pretty much a staple of being a CAG, especially if you are doing trade-ins at Gamestop.
.
In my specific case, I resent being misled over the need for the pro account. But overall, I dislike the pro account because I tend not to use it.

None of the GS locations near me stock Amazon gift cards, so until the introduction of the Steam gift cards, there was no good way to get my money out of the GS ecosystem. I find that GS doesn't often have good deals on new games, so i was getting bargains from other places, then trading in at GS, but not having anything I wanted to buy there.

I prefer Amazon - even thought their TIVs are often lower, I like being able to spend that money on things other than games.
how much is portal at kmart?
$10, ends tonight I believe.

I traded in 2 Portals, one Just Dance 3 for Xbox from home, and 5 games from BB, ended up with $160 in credit. Thanks OP!

Ps. I left several more copies of madden 12 and Just Dance 3 for Wii. I'm all about sharing the wealth. I think another guy there was looking at the GS list on his phone as well.

Took my 3 games to trade them in. Walked up to the counter. Pulled out the games. Realized I forgot to unwrap them :whistle2:| The employee was a huge Dbag about it. Told me to go trade them to some other Gamestop, that he wouldn't be trading any games with me. I said a few unpleasent words back and left.

After that experience I remembered why I stopped shopping at Gamestop.

It's their store policy to not take in new game. Same thing happened to me, I had to take it to the one across the mall

Wow...

I had the same experience, had Just Cause 2 unopened, guy was kind of a dick about it or else I wouldn't have cared. Well, I didn't really care, but the wife had a few words for him lol.

Is the Sly Collection out of print or something? I still have a sealed copy I got at target on clearance that I will never get to. I just dont want to trade it in if it will be really hard to find someday.

I was aware that they don't accept unopened games, I just forgot to open them before taking them. I was going to leave and take them to a different store, it wasn't a big deal for me. But then he started being unnecessarily rude.

Well duh, if I would have known they wouldn't take it I wouldn't have tried. I've done it at Best Buy before a bunch of times, never had any trouble, so I didn't think it would be a problem.

My gs was fine with it . But yeah its because i called him ahead of time and told them my dad bought us blahblah and i want to trade it in.

Whether customers knew about bringing the games unwrapped or not, the employee have no right to be disrespectful to the customer. They only need to explain their policy and that is it. It wasn't necessary for the employee to state he will not accept any trades from him. I would have taken the issue with the manager or the local corporate office if it was the manager.

I just came back from gamestop to do a few trade ins and over heard the cashier telling a customer that they didnt have Lego Batman 2 cause its really hard to find. So I decided to check to see if they had Alice Madness returns since I heard that was discontinued and they didnt(atleast on the shelves)

With this crazy promo, id assume they have a shit load of copies for these games...im really curious as to what they are up to ha.

edit: checked online for Alice and the stores near me say low stock on all...and the store I traded mine into the other day isnt even listed(maybe got bought quickly)

Traded in my Sly, Just Dance 2 and Kirby (which I feel kind of bad about, good game) and it rang up $33. Handed the guy my key chain Pro card and he was all "wo" when it came up $78.30. So yes I only got 10% on the $33 - not the full $75 - for an extra $3.30 but I would have let them keep that for the extra $42. And the Pro Game Informer mag came in the mail today so that was nice.

Good "Pro" story. I went to trade in Mario Kart 7 (3DS) for $15 and my membership had expired a few months earlier - so the guy rang it up as a "used' return for $30 - "lost receipt" - so I basically got the "Pro" for free - $30 return - $15 membership fee = $15 I was going to get for the trade in anyway. Pro is a good deal for free.
It's a perfectly sensible policy and one they've had for years. Unwrap the game BEFORE you go - simple.
It actually makes no sense whatsoever. I know the reason is that they do not want to take stolen games. But a thief could just as easily unwrap them as anyone else. So, really, if you think about it, it makes no sense - it just ends up being a thing to hassle legitimate customers about.

Yeah, I see this sort of thing all the time. And sure, it is a pain if they mislead people about it but in most of the cases I've seen they really are trying to help.

I prefer Amazon credit, too, all things being equal. The problem is, usually it isn't equal (like with this promo). And I've always had plenty of use for GS credit. If nothing else, you can buy MS Points or PSN cards there. But I tend to use them for hardware that isn't often discounted much other places. It was by far the best place for me to pick up the Wii U, and the 3DS before that. And they actually have more game sales than people think. For example, starting tomorrow, they are going to have LBP Vita for $19.99. I haven't seen that on sale anywhere yet.

Went to Blockbuster and flipped Just Dance 3 for 20, had Portal 2 layin around and found Ico and Sotc HD for 9 on the side :D Also they let me just use my friends phone number for his PUR. Give that a shot if you know anyone that has one fellow CAGs.

Agreed on all points. I picked up my Wii U at GS with credit and I just hold on to the rest for sales. They really aren't bad if you are patient.

Just curious, with the Kmart ad expiring, what is the best flip now for this deal? might be able to score some xmas gifts cheap ^^
I took Sly Collection and Dead Island GOTY and was only offered 21 bucks total back anyone know why?
Do you have a Power Up Rewards Card?

Were the games complete?
I took Sly Collection and Dead Island GOTY and was only offered 21 bucks total back anyone know why?
Did they scan your powerup rewards card? I know the promo TIV only showed up after they scanned my card. When they first scanned the games, it showed normal value.

The other possibility is that they removed those games from the promo...

I tried trading in two copies of Portal 2 (360) at the same time, and the guy went on a big rant on how I probably stole them and he didn't want to take any trades from me.

Agreed. It's totally stupid that I have to unwrap my game just to trade it in. They can sell me an opened game as New but I can't trade in an unopened game as Used?

Like others said its their policy. Funny that whenever an employee wont break the rules theyre a dbag. So much self-entitlement.

No it is the hypocritical nature as one of the posts above said. They can sell you a gutted, opened game as "new" but they will not take a sealed game in as a trade it. Heads I win, tails you lose. It shouldn't work that way. Seriously, I have never heard a good reason for this. "Because you may have stolen it" - how does that work? If I steal it and it is opened I am fine. It is severely flawed.

That said I still may trade a few things in....almost too good to pass up.

Because from a business stand point I'm asking myself if a customer has a new (sealed) game and no longer wants it why don't they just return it to the place where they purchased it....

Unlike with a lot of commodities people don't buy video games, keep them sealed and then 6 months later decide they want to trade them in without ever having opened and played it.

90% of CAG does this.

You guys should dump off What you want too by tommorow as im sure that some of these values will get nuked by monday (like the last time they did this promo). Then again that legendary batman ac flip from march lasted for over a month lol
What's the big deal with unwrapping them on the way in the store?
It's no big deal between me and you or even most of us here, we know we didn't steal them but that's just the way Gamestop is. I did that at Best Buy once, when I traded in 150 games a little less than half were sealed boy was that fun doing that in store.
^^This
And that is typical behavior?

You would say CAG represents the typical consumer that purchases video games?
Same happened to me. Will they be selling them alone in the future?

Same here, couldn't find kindle gc on display in any of the 3 local GS stores. I asked one employee and sure enough, he says that they only have them for the promotion and has no idea if they will get more of them to sell or the batch they received for the promotion is the end of them. He also said that they may not get anymore kindles as well, if that matters to anyone. I do hope that they will carry kindle gc in the future though.

Ended up trading in 15 games at a couple different stores. The first one had a small stack of kindle cards hanging up. They let me buy all of them with my trade in credit. The other store said they only had kindle cards for the promo, they even looked it up in the system and the only ones that show up say "promo"
I'm happy that I was able to get $150 in Kindle cards, paid off my Ni No Kuni preorder and I still have $210 in credit :bouncy:
