I wanted a game at my local gamestop, it showed have 1-3 copies, but when I went there, there was none. how often is that site updated in relation to the stores

u can't trust it AT all

apparently there have been a couple copies of suikoden II and several copies of at least 6 other rare ps1 games at my local GS for 2 weeks....however, none of them are actually there (unless employees at ALL of those stores are hoarding, which I doubt...)

I've been told it may update only weekly. You have to take into account their POS system is still DOS based and is not real time.

Anytime a used game shows up as 1-3, especially rarer titles or PSone titles, you can pretty much assume it's 1 copy. The best bet is to call. If the game can't be located it will probably be disc only and if it is? It's not worth buying.

I've found it to be extremely trustworthy. The clerks will gladly lie to your face if it means the difference between you and them walking out of the store with a complete copy of Suikoden II.

The one close to my home has a clerk who is very kind; in this case, perhaps, kind to a fault. Last week my GS showed they had "1-3" copies of Suikoden II, so I decided to go check it out. The same thing happened to me a few months back (but don't get the idea that I check daily ;)), but it was disk only. This time it was complete, and the clerk told me it was in the employee hold drawer.

I'd say you can be all but assured that it's hiding in there. If it still shows tomorrow, it's certainly in there. One of the games I came by sold immediately, and it wasn't in stock the next morning; the other, the one currently in the employee hold drawer, still shows up as being in stock.

I had one employee at a local gamestop tell me that they keep all the rarer titles behind the counter and you have to ask for them. I did one day and they showed me copies of Thousand Arms, Tales of Destiny II, and Valkyrie Profile. Always make sure to ask and not just wander around the store.

lol gizmo. But I find the online inventory to be correct more often than wrong. Just don't expect it to be up to the minute or even up to the day. Usually if they don't have something its being held for employees. That happens a lot at gamestop.

I've never seen that reply from gizmogc before!

I've found it accurate. I checked if they have a movie instock at my local store online before I went to the store. They did, so I went and picked it up. When I got home, I was curious like you and checked their inventory to see if it was updated. Sure enough, my movie I just bought wasn't available any more after about 2 hours since purchase.

My local gamestop had three suikoden II games online. when I get there, they have a bunch of other psx stuff except for suikoden II. I asked the guy at the counter and he says one of the employes borrowed it for 3 days. He said when it comes back in on monday, he will place it in a draw for me. The guy that borrowed it says he will be in after five on monday. There was another guy there though, he looked important and was doing a lot of talking, the DM I believe. I think the guy that borrowed it would of kept it had not the DM been there.

I am curious, gizmo, are you being sarcastic.

When you say "never been posted before" you really mean like...last week, don't you? ;)

I tried to call a bunch of Gamestops around here whenever it showed they had a rare game. I am ALWAYS told that they know for sure they don't have any copies. It's pretty clear that whenever something of value comes in around here it gets hoarded and EBay'd.

Lol, Honest non-hoarding gamestop employe's? Surely you jest?

Tho i would probly do it myself I realy hate the idea of employees hording stuff infact ive read that variations of this is infact illegal the article was linked to black friday infact.
Something to do with if the owner of the store does it then its ok but if an employee does it then its illegal? I dont remmeber ill look it up later.

It's worked out well for me. I actually did a little test a few weeks back. There was a new copy of Growlanser Generations Deluxe at a store 56 miles from where I live. I had it shipped to a local store where I always shop. I checked online and it showed up as having 1-3 copies at the local store. As soon as I walked in the store one of the employees told me that my Growlanser had arrived. I've also done this with a disks only copy of Lunar Silver Star Story.

i am sure that the online inventory is update to and i remember someone hear said that they usually update the list every midnight...and your best bet is to go to the store to look for the actual case of the game before asking.

I am confirming that the gamestop inventory does get updated on a daily basis. I picked up suikoden II today at around 11 am. its now 12:04 am and that store no longer shows 1-3 copies

Why can't our POS update as fast as that... not that we know out inventory, but for out title on hands which we have to scan every game in a section 1 to 2 times a week. Would make all the searching that I do for cases that aren't really there much easier
