GameStop online orders - good or bad experiences?

CAGiversary!
i was thinking about ordering a couple of new games from gamestop.com

putting aside price, has this been a good site to order new games from?

can you return unopened games to b&m stores?

any problems?

thanks

I;ve had no problems ordering. However, I would suggest from personal experience to go with pre-owned games from Ebgames.com.

I've never gotten a pre-owned game from EB without a manual/case in good condition. Some games have come like new. I'm not saying this will always happen. Maybe I've been lucky. But it generally seems the condition of their PO games are better that gamestop.com. Every PO games I've ever recieved from there has been in terrible condition and without manual and/or case.

I ordered Phantom Brave from gamestop.com and it was flawless.

I ordered FF X-2 new from EBgames the other day, and there is a giant dent/crack in the plastic casing... oh well, it was only 10$.

I've ordered new games from them and had no problems. I usually buy from them when they have free shipping. I agree with Admiral Ackbar, buy preowned games from ebgames.com since they include case and manual.

bad, i ordered marvel vs capcom, when it came it didnt work, returned it and got a new one that worked fine, took me a month too get a game.....ug

Never had a problem from gamestop. (I've only ordered new from there since they don't gaurantee case and manual with PO'ed and Ackbar told me 'It's a trap!')

Hey dental_reg, at least with a cracked case you can swap it out with another case. (Assuming the cover art isn't messed up.) Was that new? I would be bummed too if a new game came to me screwed up.

I ordered Skies of Arcadia Legends and chose the slowest shipping method and still received the game in 4 days. So yeah, I've had good experiences with them

I've had good experiences with new stuff. Hell, even my Steel Batallion came new from there, real quick, but I agree with the others though when they say EB is best for pre-owned

I've made more than a half-dozen orders from Gamestop.com and with the exception of not being able to return them to the B&M store, I've had nothing but good luck with them.

My bf has ordered twice from GameStop and I have ordered twice from EBgames. Our experiences with GameStop were not so great. Over the summer when they had the B1G1F special, he ordered PoP for the PS2 and Fire Emblem for the GBA. When we placed the order, they were "in stock" but ended up being backordered. PoP shipped rather quickly, but we had to wait 2 months for Fire Emblem to come. Since it was our "free" game, we couldn't really call up and complain, but 2 months!!!??? Both games were for his sister's birthday, luckily we ordered the games three months early...

Both games work, but PoP came in one of those CD paper sleeves and was scratched up a bit.

Recently, he won a GameStop auction via BIN. It was get 5 games (AC, Red Faction, SM:S, SSB:M, and MLB Slugfest) and a GameCube for $119 + $7 2-Day S&H. It arrived promptly and 4 out of 5 games were in great shape and game with the case and manual. Our copy of Animal Crossing was horribly scratched up and there was no manual but it came with the case and the game works (although the cube makes a horrible sound when it's playing, bf said the disk is unbalanced ???).

The GameCube however, did not work (disk read error) so we had to send that back. The original order shipped on Aug. 31st, but it's the 14th right now and we still don't have a cube. We know the games that he has work because he tried them in his sister's GC...

It was just a pain to have to call customer service because they were slow to respond to e-mails and it's frustrating to see "Usually Ships in 24 Hours" next to our order online for over 4 days (2 days were weekend days though). Ugh!

My experiences with EBgames were much better. I've only ordered PO GameBoy games off of there because that's the only system I have. The first game I got, I swear it was new. The second game I got was definately PO-ed, but still in nice shape (including label). I never got manuals, but it didn't both me.

So in short, use EB unless you can get a good deal from GameStop and are patient and can wait 2 months until you get the game. :(

Well, I've used GameStop to order NFL 2K5 and I got it shipped fast (atlhough it was free NEXT DAY shipping)

However, I recently placed an order for TWO copies of DRAKE ;) and it does not show up on their website. So, now I'm wondering if my order is lost. I didn't print the order number and never got any confirmation (as I never did before) So, I e-mailed them about it, and have yet to hear back (it has been less than 24 hours though)

we'll see if it went through or not

I have had no problems with GameStop. I have placed 5 orders with them. The orders that I received were well packed and flawless. I wish you could track your order using their $1.99 shipping like at EB.
