Gamestop raises Gamecube prices again

lol at pikmin for $24.99 used. the video game store I work at sells pikmin for $9.95 used. that's where I just got my copy.
I paid $10 for mine and felt ripped off even paying that price(it's a pretty shallow game). I can't imagine how it would feel to pay $35 and find out how boring it gets.
Hopefully its not just me...but that has got to be the single best multi game there is - and you say its shallow~
I think Halo 2 STILL sells for like 25 bucks..
$30 new and $24 with an edge card for halo 2...I just hope nobody decides they want to get this with the new one coming out for only double (its a 3 year old year game now!!)

Does anyone think GS might be taking a razor and blades model with their recent Gamecube coupon? $30 for the system, $40 for a decent game!

Don't like it? Don't buy it. They don't have a monopoly, so Adam Smith's invisible hand will rectify those prices, especially since the casual gamers being targetted (recent Wii and GameCube buyers) probably shop at Wal-Mart and Target far more often anyway.

Anyway, nice to know my copy of Hello Kitty Roller Rescue is holding its value. ;)

Wow, why would they put Mario Kart at the same price point as Tennis? At least Tennis is hard to find and didn't get a reprint, but Double Dash is still in every Best Buy I go to.
whoa whoa whoa, did trade in values for these games get bumped up too?
By a couple bucks. I'm dumping my copy of SSBM there sometime this weekend. They're giving $17. With the edge card, I'll be making $8+ profit off of that game.
Hopefully its not just me...but that has got to be the single best multi game there is - and you say its shallow~
The single player is shallow, I can never get anyone to play multiplayer since they don't like how short some of the battles can get.
Why aren't they driving up Xbox games again for the 360?
It seems to be the other way around for Xbox games. They seem to get cheaper as they become BC on the 360. The Mega Man & Street Fighter collections dropped in price right after they were added to the BC list.

Don't give them ideas Tsukento!!!

Not that there are many more Xbox or GC games that I want but I'm at least grateful that when I finally stumble across that copy of Stubbs the Zombie, it won't cost me 40 bucks.

Did you try CC?

Hopefully you'll put that towards SSBB...;)

You don't have to play timed matches if thats the problem, set it to stock...

I can't believe they are charging over MSRP on some of those games especially since some are readily available for less and new at other stores.
Wow, why would they put Mario Kart at the same price point as Tennis? At least Tennis is hard to find and didn't get a reprint, but Double Dash is still in every Best Buy I go to.
Probably cause they think people are gonna be hyped over the upcoming Mario Kart Wii.

Understandable, but still nonsensical to price it $10 ABOVE retail price of a new copy.

Its a good thing that I have been finding so many cheap Gamecube games at yard sales lately, and that I have about 60+ games in my collection now. It seems that its dumping time for cube games around here. Most of our Gamestop stores here are now overstocked with Gamecube games, assuming because of the insane price hikes.

:bomb: fuck ing DOUCHE STOP

Stop price jacking greedy douchebags.

DDR Mario Mix is $49.99 and they raised DS games up too i.e Kirby CC $25 up 5.

This won't last long. It's probably gamestop's pricing guys thinking they should jack up prices before christmas. They really have nothing to lose by raising the price, because they won't give any more in trade in.

The problem is that these exact games have already undergone price hikes before. Some got booted up higher (Mario Power Tennis is right back to the price it started at before it's last drop many months ago). Only the minor 3rd party titles have seen a drop after past hikes.

I was thinking the same, they are probably doing this to capitalize on christmas sales and also to keep inventory in their stores for christmas sales, since christmas sales basically clean out their whole store of anything used, last year there were like 5 GBA games left in the case and about 3-4 gamecube games left in each store I went into before the holidays. There are tons of kids that still have only GBA's, Gamecubes and PS2's for video game systems so these old games are in heavy demand during the holiday season. Lots of kids are also just getting these systems for the holidays who don't know any better, not everyone buys next-gen only games.

Avoid gamestop like the plague during the holiday season. I bet after christmas we will see a lot of gamecube price drops. They have done this in the past with the Pokemon GBC games, I remember a couple years ago they raised them to like 26.99 each and this was when they were several years old and the advance games were already out, they were raised from a price of like 12.99 to 26.99 just for the holiday season.

they are probably preparing for a B2G1 deal for gamecube games. i definitely wont be shopping GC stuff from them anytime soon unless i see anymore RE4 GS LEs or Ikaruga.. I knew i should've picked up Pikmin 1 when i had a chance.. oh well.. the penny guides will temporarily take the pain away...

Well dumped SSBM this morning. If anyone has access to CAGwiki's trade-in prices, they're giving $15, not $17 like the site says. Probably a trade-in price that was exclusive for a few days.

I avoid them during the holiday season. It's always overpriced out the ass from November to January. Seems like the cheap games are always jacked up to $7.99 or above.

Yeah, it doesn't go back to normal till about March, I find that all the games from christmas start dropping around Feb-March (sometimes before on new games, used games take longer to drop in price), plus they also usually run a couple B2G1's during that time.

usually the only time I shop at GS is when the have some kind of promo on used games, but in all seriousness, the price jacking of cube titles is ridiculous.
