GameStop, screw you.

lol it's not just about being clueless about things, it's jackassery unlike any seen elsewhere in retail. They truely are the bottom of the barrel for retail jobs.. Wal-Mart employees are more personable than the average GS employee.
It's either GameStop or eBay for those of us who don't have a choice when it comes to game retailers.
I find it hard to believe there's anywhere out there with a Gamestop but no Wal-mart/ Target/Best Buy/ etc. around.

And if you have access to Ebay, then you have access to the rest of the many, many internet sources of games as well.

It's entirely possible or anyone on this board to completely avoid Gamestop/EB- it's simply a question of putting in the effort to find a new place to spend your money.

Ass of hardcore? Is that the one that gives you +27 STR?

Yeah its amazing how many threads pop up about how Gamestop sucks, yet people shop there. Personally I don't even set foot in the store. Amazon is where i get most of my stuff since I have prime...

People shop there until they eventually have their own run in with a GS douche. That fire then burns for all eternity.

BTW, does that feedback survey thing off the receipt really get anyone's attention? I've heard of some getting contacted by a DM, but a friend of mine sent a complaint in and didn't get any response back.

LOL I'm sure that if I sent in a complaint from the receipt, I would surely NOT get a call back from the local DM, since he and I had a run in the one day I was at a local mall GS to try and clean out their 3 month backlog of pennied guides.

And apparently, he talked to all of the local store manager types about not giving me anything, so complaining to GS corp about ANYTHING really would just get another laughable experience to have to deal with their local DM, who is a total dickhead and non gamer imo.

The one manager told me that, rather than ship out the games to another store, this same DM took a pair of needlenose pliers to about 30-50 N64 games and marked them as defective.

Now, does that sound like something a gamer would do to games to you?

The Best Buy employees around here told me they ship guides to a recycler, but GS doesn't do shit like that, as long as they get their cred back, they're happy to just chuck out good products into the trash instead of being actually conscious of the space in a landfill they're taking up every month or three with their guide tossing.

Mind you, that's not why I dislike(and apparently many of the employees dislike, from what they've said of him to me)their DM, it was just how smug and 'asshole' he came off as, as if.....well, I won't even get into it.

But, let's just say I hope to hell the local DM gets reassigned or whatever at some point in time, hopefully soon.

Yeah, I never got a response from the local DM here about the manager taking my copy of Persona 3.. no surprise.

I was in there yesterday (Had to suck it up and pre-order castlevania dracula x chronicles for the figurine, plus a P3 guide to resell) and the place smelled fucking awful. Like a bad dorm room. The employee working the register was wearing sunglasses and fingerless gloves, and had to ask me 3 times about everything I wanted to purchase.. there were cars parked in nonsensical random places all around the parking lot, like people were trying to show them off, there was a table placed in the middle of the store with even more random car stereo shit with handwritten prices on them asking for Cash only..

Wal-mart? Not a place to go for games. Deals are always YMMV and not one here ever has anything worth getting. You won't find much that's old to begin with.

Target? Only one in my area and it's usually virtually wiped of anything decent. Like Wal-mart, nothing but newer titles really sit there.

Best Buy? Same as Target but further away. Hasn't had one good deal on games since their big ass clearance.

Circuit City? Only worth going for clearance and sales. That's it.

But as I said. GAME RETAILERS. Neither of the above mentioned specialize in gaming needs.

With online, you have to actually scour around for what you want depending on its rarity or the demand behind it. Then you have to put up with varying prices and shipping costs that add onto it. Depending on if it's an actual legit store or an average Joe seller, you'll have to hope it arrives on time and that the seller wasn't jipping you.

This is CAG. Most of us don't pay retail prices for games. Most ordinary stores don't really offer discounts on most games. So it's annoying when you only have the choice between a company that will willing fuck you in the ass and online. Especially should you actually want something right away and won't be getting much of a deal by paying extra for quicker shipping costs for online stores.

the problem i have with this.. is if you're at a mall.. or in a major shopping area.. the majority of GS's competition sucks.. in terms of prices and selection.. Rhino had a pretty good selection but flat out terrible prices.. i won't go into FYE.. I haven't seen a GameCrazy near where I shop and the Blockbusters in my state don't have GameRush.. or whatever there's is called.. so i mean I go to 3 places.. the 2 malls that have a GS and an EB (the EB is better on most accounts though) and then the random mom and pop store that has "older" games (read PSone and SNES games that i like to look at )

I can't be the only one who has a similar situation like this..

I buy the majority of my video games from the pawn shop here in town, but when i'm an hour's drive away i go to GS or EB.. and occasionally i'll pick up something..

For some reason, I don't see GS specializing in anything except as a monopolistic vampiric codependent relationship.

Used goods is their bread and butter and they bleed you dry to feed the aftermarket they create and mark up.

Most CAGs flock to them when there appears to be a benefit in bonus trades-ins or B2G1 offers, but I hate to say that the very people who loathe them most -- keep them very much alive and thriving.

It's the unsuspecting Joe Shopper who gets screwed waltzing in for a game they can't find because it's been flipped to extinction from other retailers.

Ultimately we do have to share the blame for perpetuating this vicious cycle by granting them access to bite our asses.

There will be no more patronage as soon as my Edge card expires. What a great business plan to have suckers stock their warehouses and stores without doing a damn thing.
woo hoo there were no managers this weekend!
lol, so that's why I got 68 dollars back on two items that should have refunded me 48 dollars :) The boy behind the counter somehow refunded me a PS3 49.99 accessory and my 360 controller charger for 15, when it should have been a 360 keyboard (that new one) and the charger so it should have came out to 48 something. Got a bunch of free wall posters too :) Hopefully he doesn't realize he fucked up and void the transaction because he took the receipt. I want my extra 20 bucks :)

LOL theres a simple solution to problems like this they are called modchips and in italy not only are they common and easy to find they are totally legal...
thats fucking golden what did he do after you did that?
I don't think he did much, the store was really packed at this time so I think he just went about his business. The games were really obvious bootlegs too as they were copies of Pokemon Fire Red and Leaf Green that had the normal colored grayish carts and fake labels. Imagine I was trying to do something nice for the store by pointing out the bootleg games and then he comes back with the response "thats alright". NO IT IS NOT OK ITS AN ILLEGAL PRODUCT YOU ARE SELLING! I don't care if its new, used or damaged its a bootleg and its still an illegal copy of the game. I have never honestly been more angry in a retail store before.

This particular manager also touts Gamestop as the largest retail chain of video games in the usa to his soccer mom customers all the time and touts the store in other ways but in reality its just as bad as ebay. As a smart person wouldn't it be the responsibility of the largest video game retailer chain in the USA to you know, have knowledgeable employees that can spend 3 seconds to check to see if a bootleg game is traded in before some snot nosed kid trades it in, no I guess not, because they are too concerned about the profit they are making from that bootleg game to even be worried about that! This is also the store that I constantly get non working GBA games from, of course they are traded in by some brat who knows they don't work.

It looks like I'm lucky as all the GameStops I've went to have had nice employees. They are all very helpful and don't force pre-orders on you.

However at the EB that used to be near me the employees were total asses. They would start yelling at you to buy something if you looked in the store for more than 2 minutes. Also one time I bought a GamePro magazine from them and they told me that I should buy a GMR subscribtion instead. The employee proceeded to argur with me about how much better GMR was for about 3 minutes before he gave up. The store closed down about 6 months later. (This was before the EB-GameStop merger.)

Why the hell doesn't a network program do an undercover investigation of this place?

I would love to turn on NBC one day and see Chris Hanson do a "To Catch A Gamestop Employee..." special.
