Ok,

I searched and didnt find this anywhere.

I was just at Gamestop and was told taht you can trade in any 3 dvd's Complete with cover art and get one of the following free.

Shrek 2
Spiederman 2
Riddick
Van Helsing
Harry Potter

There were others I believe but cant remember. This could be an ok deal if you found a few cheap DVD's.
Any exceptions to this deal? I have a few bad DVD's I need to get rid of.
The guy at teh counter told me that they take some seriously bad dvd's so thats a good sign!

Blockbuster has a decent deal too...on the $8 trade...I think I would rather do that then I'm not limited to what I have to buy from GameStop. $24 in credit SHOULD be any one of those DVD's....SHOULD I say since BB can have sucky prices

The blockbuster deal isn't good around this area because the blockbuster stores are not corporate stores, and therefore don't participate in the used trades/etc. No gamerushes either.

Very true and you wouldnt be limited to those choices you could get any new release.

Also they will run a $29.99 preorder on a movie and include 7 "free" rentals so trade in 4 dvds at Blockbuster and get a new movie and 7 new release rentals over the next 7 weeks at one per week.

Either one is ok.

Hell yes this is going to be the ultimate misnamed Mutli deal type thread thingy..... Of sorts if you know what I mean....

Or did that not make sense?

I traded in 3 DVD's today to get Shrek 2. I noticed the credit was for $19.99, does that mean I still have to pay tax once I go to pick up the DVD?

I went to my gamestop today to take advantage of the deal, and the employees had no idea what I was talking about. They mentioned a dvd trade in, but had no specifics on it....I'll have to try back tomorrow.

No. You only have to pay sales tax when the amount you traded in is less than what you are purchasing. Say you traded in $20 worth of games to purchase something that was $30, you would only pay sales tax on the $10 difference. Since the DVD you traded in your movies for is probably going to retail $19.99, you wouldn't have to pay tax because you received $19.99 in credit.

If anyone knows the other DVD's, will you please post? I have about 20 DVD's that I was going to trade in to Blockbuster but they are not doing that deal here in Florida. This will be a pretty good deal for me since I am going to buy these movies anyway and I have plenty I want to get rid of. Thanks to the original poster for posting.

I work at GameStop, and the 50% off anime just started Wednesday.

The only catch to the Trade 3 DVD's get one free is that the DVD must be in our system in order to count, and they must have original box art.

ALL GAMESTOPS SHOULD BE DOING THIS!!!!

I had a guy take advantage of this, and traded in what would've been $4 in store credit for 3 DVD's. We basically bump the trade up to $19.98, which is the price of the new dvd. Since it was a trade in, there is no tax charged, so no, it is paid in full. Great sale, especially since it's some of the biggest movies of the year that appeal to everyone.

Took advantage of this today:

Got Shrek 2 and Spiderman 2 preorders.

Traded in the following:
Logans Run
Nurse Betty
Roller Ball
Drop Dead Gorgeous
ED TV
and one other bad one.
