Gamestop trade in 3 games get an extra $10 Gamebucks is over...but...(new deal)

CAGiversary!
Went in to ask if the trade 3 get $10 extra gamebucks deal was still going on in July and the guy working said it was over...(sigh)...but then said the current deal is pretty much just as good and handed me a Gamestop booklet that had a seperate sheet inside with a $3 extra Gamebucks coupon for each trade in (limit 5). Said you had to present coupon for this deal but I think if you just mention it they'd probably give it to you. Same exclusions apply: no 2004 or older sports or wrestling titles and no demo discs. Not bad at all.

Coupon expires 7/20/04

Like I said it's a seperate single sheet of paper, it has some trade-in values of some of the newer games printed on it and then there is the coupon below. I SHOULD CLARIFY - THIS WAS NOT IN THE GAMEINFORMER MAGAZINE. The cashier pulled it off the counter by the register. If you're interested go in and check it out or call and ask whoever is working there if they will give you the extra $3 gamebuck per trade-in even though you don't have the coupon. I wish I had a scanner, I would scan this in but I seriously think this is Gamestop's new deal and you don't really need the coupon.

What are the dates on that one? I missed the last trade-in deal, I generally try to sell/trade over the net, but haven't been having much luck.
What 'booklet' is it? Is it that little slick flyer packet thing they have at the counter that you can grab for free?

EB in my area is still doing the trade 3 get the extra $10 in trade until 7/3/04.
They also have a guaranteed $10 trade in on games traded in for Spiderman 2, NCAA 2005, Madden 2005 and Halo 2. Thats $10 per game guaranteed. Time to clean out the closets and trade in some old games and get some good credit!

Is that different from the 2 for $20 deal in the ad? I asked about that one and they said the usual exclusions apply to that trade-in deal.

I guess its different, dont know for sure. They did say they reduced the number of excluded games by quite a bit. I traded in a 2004 NCAA which was excluded last week and now its good again.

Was this coupon on current generation systems, or would PS1 games be available too? Would be nice to turn $0.50 titles into $3.50 titles.

Nope, for Xbox, PS2, and Gamecube only!

In response to EB, my local store just has the trade in 2 for $20 credit toward a new release but I think that's a crap deal. You're paying like $32 +/- $1 and trading in 2 of your games for one new release. That's a horrible deal in my opinion. And EB pays pretty well for new releases but Gamestop kills them on trade-in value for games retailing between $20-$30. Gamestop will give something like $1-$12 for a game in that range where EB will give something like $1-$5. I like ebgames.com but I can't stand EB stores.

I've heard many brag about GameRush and GameCrazy. Currently I have none around me but there are several GameCrazy's in my area that will open in a month or two. I'm pumped.

I'm telling you all that EB is running better trade deals right now. All you have to do is ask someone there about them. $10 for an older game, especially a sports game towards a new game isnt too bad in my book.
And the extra $10 for 3 games is good until the end of the week.

You must just have a good EB by you or something. Trading in an old sports title for $10 credit is fine...if they allow it. I called them up once and had about 4 Xbox games that I was looking for trade-in values on and after the EB worker told me the crappy values that were about half of what GS was offering, he chose the two highest valued games and told me those were eligible for the 2 for $20 credit towards a new release. Pfffff!! Whatever!! If EB has better deals by you that's fine, but they suck @$$ by me. This is something that I've heard runs in a cycle though, but I have yet to see EB run a better trade in deal than GS in my area.

As an employee, I can safely say the only way your not geing shafted at these places is to get a card table, make a sign on the back of a cardboard box ("GAMEZ 4 SALE"), put what you want gone on it, and sit by the side of a busy road or in a parking lot. Within one hour, you will have gotten 3 times what GS or EB offers you in Cash no less.

True, if you buy every game for $50 you'll always get shafted. But with clearance deals like at Circuit City, Best Buy, Target, etc. it's very easy to get $2 store credit for every $1 spent elsewhere (AND you get to play the games). Almost always, you can get more by putting a game on ebay but when the difference between ebay's value and the trade in value is a couple of bucks it's a lot easier to just trade it in.

He is right! I went to ebgames the other day and traded in 4 games ( was looking for the trade in any 4 games and get the game for free) for Spiderman. The guy said that they ran the 10 dollars per trade in ( they also ran the stupid 20 dollars of Coupon). So i got Spiderman 2 for 10 bucks. I should have traded in 5 games so i only had to pay for tax :)

you dont need the coupon to get the deal, just mention it, I got 28 in store credit for MVP Baseball 2004. So I did pretty good
