Gamestop Used Find of the Year/Idiot Trade-in of the Year

Picked up a Mass Effect 1 CE at Gamestop today for $18 after PUR.

It has a somewhat dented corner, and is missing the outer slipcover, but is otherwise complete.

It's a hell of a lot better than paying $110 on Amazon for an "Acceptable" one.

My question is who the idiot is who traded it in for about $8?
Dunno. Is it on a card inside?
The first one didn't come with DLC. That's one helluva find. Every time I go into a Gamestop, I scan the used sections for collector's editions. You found my white whale.

Ok, I didn't think it did.

Yeah, this was in the drawer. Almost all the CEs I've gotten at GS have been from the drawers behind the counter. I ask about it every time I stop in a GS.

I never thought the words "Gamestop" and "Find" could be used together. I mean unless it was a game you really wanted and found it used for somewhat cheaper. But something you could actually flip from Gamestop amazes me.
Are you also banned from trading at Gamestop?
Nah. That's IAmTheCheapestGamer that's banned from trading at GS.

I found a BioShock 1 Limited edition at Gamestop for 17.99 a while back. This was about 2 years ago when it was going for 50+

Thanks myl0r. I also forgot to mention that I found a Quantum of Solace CE at a nearby store to the one I picked up the ME1 CE at. All in all, a great day considering I used credit I got from flipping Kinect games from BB credit.

Great find! I've found one of those at a Gamestop, too! I think someone had JUST traded it in, because it was in the pile of games that needed to get stickers and be put on the shelves. It was missing the artbook, though. I'd love to spot one on ebay someday to complete my copy, but I'm not so concerned about it.

I've actually had a handful of great finds at Gamestops from around 2008-2010, when I used to go to a lot of different ones pretty frequently for guides and things. I've found the limited edition of Ar Tonelico and Ar Tonelico 2, complete with all the extras and everything in mint condition, Gears of War LE (I've seen this probably 3 times), Gears of Wars 2 LE complete with unused DLC, Fable 2 LE complete with unused DLC (seen this a few times, back when the DLC was worth $50+), Resident Evil 4 Premium Edition for the GameCube, SMT: Nocture first print run with the soundtrack CD (before the reprint, when it was worth $80+), SMT: Digital Devil Saga 1 and 2 complete with deluxe outer box (before the reprint, when they were worth a lot more). Wow, going back and thinking about it, I've been super lucky. It helps to have like 20+ Gamestops within close proximity, and I actually used to make a point to stop in every time I was nearby to check for great finds.

My white whale is Tales of Vesperia LE. I rarely go to Gamestop nowadays, though, so I'm not getting my hopes up.

I picked up one of those at Game Crazy back when I worked there. The game was quite new, so it was still $50 used, but with my employee discount, I ended up getting it for under $40.
My white whale continues to be ME1 CE. Not sure why I ever traded away my ME2 CE, but I won't be making that mistake with ME3.

Found a PS3 Devil May Cry 4 CE at Gamestop, same price as the regular used sku ($16.99), seems to be worth $50ish on the used market. I remember seeing a Gears of War CE tin mixed in with the regular 9.99 and under crap bin, I didn't pick it up though and now it's long gone.

For the most part, it all ends up the same SKU, which is why Gamestop can actually be a good place to find CEs. I had a vanilla Resident Evil 5 a while back that the disc was scratched, so I took it back and the guy just gave me the steelbook instead. As far as the computer is concerned, they're the same product.

I found one at a GS a few months ago. It was in better condition than the sealed one that I bought, so I swapped and flipped. I just wish there was some way to tell if the codes worked...

I saw a Lego Harry Potter 1-4 LE for like 20-30 bucks. Can't remember which. It has everything(I don't have money.) It's like 1-2 bucks more expensive then the used normal copy! Also saw the dirtyist oldest Sticker on a Alan Wake LE for like.......50-60? I don't know.

Man, that's an amazing find. I wish I could find one... I can't believe the number of times I've passed on this and now it's expensive as hell.

Holy smokes that's amazing. My single best GS find was a sealed copy of Gradius V last year, but that's blown out of the water many times over by something like the ME1 CE.

Couple months back I bought out all of the copies of the Devil Summoner 2 CE with plushie. Ended up with like 6 of um. They're only recently starting to go up in price, but I got um cheap anyway so I was happy.

On an unrelated note - I work at an HEB grocery store in TX, which is a huge chain here. We have several "Plus" stores that sell electronics.

They have an AMAZING selection of sealed ps2 games. Disgaea 1/2, Digital Devil Saga 2, Kingdom Hearts series, Mana Khemia 1/2/ box set, psp box sets sealed, RE5, Fallout 3 sealed CE. Just great inventory altogether. Only problem was they are practically still being sold at retail value, and they NEVER have sales on electronics. Hopefully I can get some good prices if they decide to clearance them eventually.

i had people trade me Dot hack 1 with the figure on some webpages dirt cheap.

they got to be a bigger fool cause that game is worth alot

I found the game + bonus discs in original case for Bioshock 1 LE today. Got it for $9 after PUR.

It was, of course, in the drawer behind the counter.

Yes typically they just take CEs in trade and process them as the regular game. The only exception (I think) is Star Wars Force Unleashed Sith Edition, which they sell for $50!
Do you guys just ask if they have any collectors editions behind the counter?
Yeah, that's what I do every time I'm in there. I just ask if they can check if they have any collectors editions in the drawer.
Do you do this at any Gamestop you go to or the main one where you go to a lot?
I ask at all of the ones I go to. The one I got this and the QoS steelbook at are ones I hit maybe once a month or so.
