Thanks for the post!

The last time CompUSA was doing mail in rebate gift cards (well the last time I was interested in a deal where they did those) The ad specifically said they COULD be redeemed for cash. (So they are better than normal cards.) However when I actually got my cards the legalize on the card said something like 'no cash value' I ended up wanting to buy something at CompUSA anyway, so I never tested if they would let me have the cash or not. I'd suggest keeping the ad to show them as you'll probably have a fight. (And that's assuming the ad has the same language.)

Thank you for posting these, TSD. Good thing there is not one item for me this week (the same drought for the last couple of weeks continues) because I'm halfway through Baten Kaitos and I can't even think about any other games.

probably nothing for me. the UMD movies at $13 are kinda tempting. but I think I'm gonna limit myself to buying those unless they're sub $8
 
Wow, I don't think I've seen a drought for this long in a while at the three major retailers. I mean I did pick up Ratchet and Clank: Going Commando last week but otherwise, I haven't gone to a BB, CC, or Target for the longest time for any of their ads really. Still, you do an awesome job The Successful Droupout and I must commend you on your posting of the deals every week. Thanks again.
 
fuck... no deal on WWE Wrestlemania 21 which is now supposed to be coming out on 4/20.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks so... I'm surprised by the lack of any real deals at major outlets for... well, this entire year actually. But I guess it's all good. Where the major retailers have been slacking, game retailers (like EB) have picked up the slack. Maybe we'll see something big when summer comes around...

I wholy agree. EB, Gamestop, and Fry's have really been picking up that slack as well as much of my business so far this year...

Nice prices on the UMD movies. Too bad Kill Bill isn't on sale, as I think it's supposed to come out next tuesday as well, but it isn't a Sony Film movie which is why it's probably not included in these deals. Thanks!

Can someone please explain to me how a disc that can be played only in a Sony PSP is a good deal? Especially when you can buy the DVD which can be played on nearly any DVD player.
 
kill bill aint coming out for a while supposedly... but AWESOME prices on the psp movies! im DEFINITELY gonna be picking up some of these mofos and watching them :D

I was just thinking the exact same thing. Why not just buy the actual DVD for a few dollars more and then rip it to MemoryStick so you can watch it on your PSP and anywhere else you want. You're going to need a big MemoryStick if you want to listen to any music or watch movies anyway, so don't waste your money on $15 UMDs. Save up that money to buy a 1 Gig MemoryStick!
 
Even a 1 gig MS can't hold more than two full length films. If I am going to watch a movie off the MS, I need to plan ahead for it, have it already on there. It would be nice to have a few of my favorite movies on UMD so that they are always available. Especially since I hardly ever watch movies at home.

Of course, I need some good UMD movies to come out, first.

Sure it can... a 512 can hold 2 movies...
 
The only reasons that I would buy a UMD movie are:

1. the video quality of the UMD movies is considerably better than what you rip from your DVDs.
2. it's a movie that I really like and would like to have it handy whenever I travel.
3. the price is reasonable- $9.99 would be a good price point, but the $12.99 ones next week look tempting, especially since I do not own the DC version of Hellboy.
 
The PSP firmware prevents you from playing videos off the memory stick at maximum resolution, so that's why some people will buy UMDs. I don't care for any of the movies that are on sale right now, but I am interested in Kill Bill.. I would love to get a memory stick, but it's pretty hard to get one when nearly every online site is out of stock or wants too much money.
