Gaming laptop under $600?

CAGiversary!
Hi,

I'm looking for a low to mid end gaming laptob for under $600. Basically I want it to run Bioshock infinite on medium setting. So far I haven't had much luck. Before anyone suggests it, I don't know how to build a system nor do I have any desire to learn.

I found one on the HP website, the Evny 6-j000 I believe. Everything was good to go. There was a sale taking the base price below $500, and I had a coupon code for an extra 5% off. After upgrading the video card and screen to true HD it was still just a C-word hair under $600 bananas. Good I thought until the sale expired during checkout. I contacted the customer service and was told to beat it kid, you're bothering me.

Any and all suggestions are welcome.

Personally I'd stay away from HP, they are know to have awful ventilation which of course is exasperated when you try and play anything major on it and the graphics card kicks in.

Looked around for a bit and this didn't look too shabby, though it is a bit over your budget: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834216538

  • Intel Core i5 3337U(1.80GHz)
  • 15.6"
  • 4GB Memory DDR3 1600
  • 500GB HDD 5400rpm
  • DVD Super Multi
  • NVIDIA GeForce GT 740M
  • $639.99
Honestly though I hate to sound like a broken record, but finding a good gaming laptop for that price is easier said than done. Not impossible, but you'd have much better luck waiting for black Friday or catching a random newegg flash sale. Sorry I couldn't be of more help, I'm currently in the market for a laptop too and am having equally lousy luck

I would recommend the Lenevo IdeaPad Y510p Laptop but just like your problem with HP, the sale price no longer exists. The 15.6" was on sale for $820 for July 4th and the 14" was in your price range but I just can't remember the price.  Now the 14" base model is $799...  Like the previous comment, just keep researching until you see a flash sale for your price range and do the proper research.  I don't know anything about the HP you were looking at but I've have had horrible experiences with HPs.
