I know building my own is the best way to go, but where might I start, I've never built my own but know what all I need, just need a site to go to. Best I've found was at like hp.com or dell.com, with the customize your own thing.
Just Google "build your own PC" or something along those lines, and you'll get a lot of great guides. I'm not really into the scene much anymore, so I cannot direct you to specific ones. Years ago, I was tired of always having to rely on other people when I had computer issues. I started looking into PC hardware, learned how to build my own system, and in the process, became pretty good at all sorts of PC-related issues. Now, I am the guy that people are always begging for help with their computers.
Besides savings some money, there are other great advantages to building your own machine. For one, it will likely be far more upgradeable than any pre-built system you buy. Most pre-builts have very little in the way of an upgrade path, because companies don't want you upgrading. They want you buying a new system. You'll also know what parts are going into the system. Companies often cut corners on "invisible" parts, like motherboards and power supplies, because the general populace doesn't know or care about them. And as I also mentioned, you'll learn so much about computers that you'll likely never need anyone's help again.
