Gaming Room Ideas On The Cheap?

I was in IKEA the other day here in philadelphia, and they have really fantastic chairs for gaming, I was going to pick them up but I don't have room for them...they weren't that expensive. If you have an IKEA near you, unlikely, I can give you more of a description.

Shelving:
1. Build your own, of course, this is only an option
if you have the required skills and tools to do so.

2. Buy the Prefab shelving from Walmart/Target... and watch for when it goes on sale... on sale, you can usually get oak or maple finish shelving for 30 dollars for a five shelf 8ft tall shelving unit. Sometime they'll even have a black mat finish, which works really, really well for rooms dedicated to electronics.

3. If all else fails, you could even buy old shelving at secondhand stores and refinish them with something as simple as black contact paper.

Depending on your needs, the Detloff is a nice shelving unit for the money.

Unless you're actually willing to put out a decent amount of money for shelves, or build them yourself, that's going to apply to just about anything you'd buy in the sub-100 dollar market.

Particle board and plastic is not a bad option, especially if your a CAG. All your putting on these shelves are games, very lightweight items. If you were using them for books or they would take a little abuse then you may want to go for something a little more sturdy. For games, particle board is good enough as long as it looks decent.

i got my couch at ikea, 200. things a beuty, fits right undermy bed and comfortably seats 3. my game shelf i got at lowes, its a particle board thing but works fine. 200 also, holds most of my stuff.

Bean bags can be done cheaply, provide you or someone you know knows how to sew.
All you have to do is pick out the fabrics/materials you want for the shell, sew it up, and put a zipper on it... then go buy a big bag of small polystyrene balls (that's what most beanbag chairs use anyway.).

If you really want to do it right, you'd also want to sew a lining into it.

Of course, this all depends what you want you're beanbag chair made off... fabrics and fleeces are cheap, but leather and such is not, and requires more specialized tools and needles to do the work.

Penquin...Did you get them from the store or online? I was thinking of ordering the IKEA entertainment thing thats online (holds around 8-10 game systems) not bad for 150...If you did buy it online how much was your shipping...If its too much that will turn me away...But 200 for a 3 person couch is nice

got it B&M, they dont ship tha far, but i think, which is a bad thing, that shipping might be free. they only ship a certain distance from their stores. the couch was actually 250, cause i got a $50 slip cover to make it black instead of white.

You could also look into wireframe shelving.

It'd be best to find some that has wood shelves, open back and sides, and good stability (not those $10 crap metal shelves). You can find 3shelf varieties a bunch of places on the cheap. Mine stands about 3ft. up, has 3 shelves, and was about $25 at a Kmart. Good for the fengshui, and able to hold 5 consoles easy.

Since it's open, you don't really have to worry about heat, you'll be able to see and work on the wiring much easier, and it's much easier to dust (important for PS2 and Xbox).

I have wireframe stuff for my consoles and for my computers. Never had a problem yet.

For game storage, I just get the metallic black wall-mounting wire bits ($9, Walmart) and a small sidecart ($12, Kmart).
It's takes up poster real estate, but makes it a breeze to find a game.

I like garage sales myself, just dedicate a few hours on a saturday morning, grab a pickup truck and the local classifieds and go for a spin
