Gears of War 2 $55.97 w/Release-Date Delivery + $10 amazon giftcard!

I use Bill Me Later all the time, it only hits your credit once (when you sign up), from then on out it's just like another credit card you should pay off in full each month.
Why isn't Bill me later worth it? couldn't you just use BML and pay it off as soon as you get your statement?
Yes.

Your credit is not affected by Bill Me Later, as long as you pay it on time.
But they probably do a credit check when you apply for it, so it could effect your credit (FICO) score.
Change "could" to "will" and you've got it right...

And I agree that the title is very misleading.
Is one credit check really going to make a difference? If you have a substantial credit history, it shouldn't.
Maybe some people don't want the hassle of having a credit check done in their name?

Not everyone likes to throw around their Social Security number ya know?

well then, be sure to never get a credit card either. or buy a car, house, etc. unless you're paying in cash. I'm just saying it's a necessary evil.

but yeah, this thread should be squashed before BML turns into the next "google checkout" trend where every thread title is like "Fallout 3 for $10!!!" then the OP says "after blah blah blah google checkout blah BML etc. etc."

No. One credit check will not make any difference at all.

Is it worth the risk--to save a piddly $10? With the reforms currently going on in the banking industry, who knows if it'll make a difference? Creditors are likely to become much stricter when extending credit, and I know that, for me at least, I'd rather not open credit lines beyond those I need to... different strokes for different folks, I suppose.

hard credit pulls actually do show up on your credit report, and the more "inquiries" you have against your file, it will lower your score because if you have too many, it signifies you are going around to lenders seeking credit.

I work in the credit industry. one credit inquiry absolutely lowers your credit score. If you are a good credit to begin with, then you will still remain a good credit. If you are borderline, and you are possibly applying for credit in the near future (like a car loan), then this isn't worth it. The worse your credit is, the more the inquiry will drop your score.

I agree w/ the above, squash BML threads. Just when "... if you use google checkout" threads are dying out, here goes another.

*sigh*

There is a difference...a car, house, etc. is something that is necessary. Saving $10 on a video game is not.

hey I definitely agree it's not worth it to use it once to save a few bucks. I was just saying it's not a huge deal that they do it at all. Though, as the other guy pointed out, it sounds like it could be if you're borderline.

it opens a new line of credit in your name. i dont really recommend doing it if you're young and just starting to build a credit history, otherwise it wont matter. just follow the golden rule, always pay bills on time.

I got it pre-ordered for 57 dollars (gold box preorder) with release date delievery since i got amazon prime for free!

....so this thread is laughable to me, because saving a few more dollars off a great deal is just....hilarious
Misleading title FTL.
This post is actually fairly tame considering the rest of the time you've got a stick up your unmentionables.
