True. That's the first thing I saw dwindle down when I changed to high; my sniper reflex became shit! It's a tradeoff. Maybe I should roll more and use it to my advantage since I'm playing on high sense.
Anyone tinker with the video settings yet? I find that putting it on "Vibrant" actually helps you to see your opponents better because of the glowing lines and beads on the uniforms and guns. The environments are more colored so the COGs (gray uniforms) stand out more.
Whoa, thanks for mentioning that. The game looks MUCH better on vibrant than on the default.

Totally unrelated: I just beat the game on Insane tonight.

Did anyone experience a HUGE increase in annoying, terrible 12-year old kids today on GoW MP?? I swear, idiot parents bought SO many of these damn kids GoW for X-Mas..its ridiculous.

I wonder if it's as bad as when the game was flooded with French players... those guys were pretty annoying.

seeing the released patch for rb6:v why is the gow patch taking so long?
they fixed an impressive amount of glitches, had it ms approved, and released.
its a little aggrevating.
You are gonna want to work your way into high sensitivity. You'll be able to look around so much faster and that drastically reduces the likelihood of ambushes, being outflanked, and being spooked from behind. Not only that, but you can turn around faster after every jump and you can run tighter circles (on map "Canals", being the first one to reach the sniper is its own duel itself). Don't worry, it's not like Halo setting at "10" where with one little push, and you've already turn 90 degrees. You'll suck at first because your brain and fingers have to adapt and you will lose some sniper sense but your overall effectiveness will increase. I recommend playing through a few chapters of high sensitivity before going on XBL. There's really no reason not to use it unless you truly don't care about getting better.
Tried it out, did take time to get used to it but it was pretty good.

i borrowed this game from a friend yesterday and passed it within 5 hours with my bro. it's an excellent game and i can't wait to replay it later on this week. my only complaint is that the game is a little on the short side and the game kept getting "stuck" in a few places (or was that from my failing, one day old xbox360? ).

It's most like the disc. For some reason, Dead Rising and Gears of War are two games that are notorious for messing up systems.

the reason why the patch is taking so long is because it's not just a patch. It's a patch with new added content. Expect "new ___"... most likely levels and/or characters (still would prefer characters over levels oddly enough).

I want a decent matchmaking system. I know I'm complaining, but c'mon, half of the reason why Halo 2 is still so frequently played is because of how easy it is to get into a match.
Tried it out, did take time to get used to it but it was pretty good.
I think I will give this a try. I always hated as I got good at the game that I still seemed to not be able to turn around as fast as I would like to.

I've tried high-sensitivity, too. Still getting used to it, but I've already noticed that it's really helped me in shotgun duels.
I've tried high-sensitivity, too. Still getting used to it, but I've already noticed that it's really helped me in shotgun duels.
I'm going to have to switch to high-sensitivity then.

I played online for the first time last night. It was fun even though I totally suck but I am going to get on again tonight. It took me about 5 matches to register my first kill (we were playing 4 on a team and first to 5 so this is about 40 games in!). I still have trouble aiming and I really don't know what the different weapons do but I think I can get better.

I never should have quit playing the single player but my 360 broke and was gone for about 2 weeks and in that time I got my Wii and got totally sidetracked. I'm going to finish it this weekend though and try to get better at deathmatch. I can't believe how awesome the 360 is.
I'm going to have to switch to high-sensitivity then.
Yeah, when zoomed in to aim you can track your opponent much more quickly, so it's much harder for them to escape your vision by circling you.

I think the patch is going up tonight, playing online on Xbox Live isnt working for a lot of people, including me. Everything excpet playing online works fine though
Kickass, bring on the addons! Unreal Championship 2 got a crapload of first party, free, addons after it was released , was great. Definitely feel like my $70 for GoW was worth.
A crapload? 4 months after the game's release, they unlocked alternate characters and gave us 3 or 4 maps and 1 patch and that's it. They dropped it like it's hot. I'm sure it had to do with the sales of the game, but it still wasn't the legendary support they had promised and sold gamers on.

It won't load for me. I go to continue campaign, and it stays on the loading screen with the gear rotating. Has this happened to anyone else? What should I do?"

Why would Live going down affect his campaign though? It doesn't make sense.

Also, the patch wouldn't knock out Live either, so it's unlikely its that.

Now it's not even going to the load screen, the second I press A (selecting Hardcore difficulty), I immeadiatly get thrown back to the difficulty selection screen.
Just got off the phone with Xbox tech. Here's the temp fix:

Go to System blade, Memory, Y for Device Options, then hit X, X, LB, RB, X, X to pull up a maintenance window. Yes for routine maintenance.

When I started up GOW again it asked if I wanted to update, Tech Guy says No for now. Xbox Live is still down and they are working on it. He said to call back tomorrow. But this will let you sign in and play saved campaign mode.
This was posted in the "GoW is ruining 360 DVD drives" thread.

Looks like you guys weren't the only ones having problems.
I still have no idea why Live's going down affected the campaign, but enjoy.

"Hey...I think I got it!"

I was experimenting and training over the winter break (staying away from XBL to improve). Some good shotgun tactics to improve your skills:

1. always keep your left stick at 11:00 - 1:00 when rushing forward. When retreating, roll or roadie away. Walking backwards and left/right makes you about 25% slower.

2. don't click repeatedly or time your shotgun shots like Halo 2, especially over XBL. Just HOLD ON to the right trigger:
a) since there is always lag, by holding the trigger, your shot always comes out as fast it can always come out.
b) you can fully concentrate on strafing and your opponent's movement

3. Melee! I hate this and I can't get yet get it to become second nature, but if you get 1 or 2 clean shots and are within range, melee brings them down right away.

4. Melee stun-gib. Melee the person at close range so they get stunned and stop dead in their track. Immediately hold the R-trigger, start strafing left or right (11:00 - 1:00) and use right stick to keep him in your view altogether. A clean shot guarantees gib. NOTES:
a) strafing to the left is easier because the camera defaults to keep your character on the left. Strafing to the right after the melee forces the camera to shift sporadically to the right to keep you on the left of screen and is very hard to get in a clean shot.
b) if you don't think you can get a shot after the melee, RUN LIKE A BITCH and maintain. The following melees after the 1st one do not register. Also, if you do not strafe or run out of his view while he is stunned, he can just gib you out of the stun.

5. ROLL AS A DEFENSIVE MANEUVER!!!!!! It is a legitimate tactic and forces your opponent to initiate a new tactic. How many times have you been gibbed while fighting standing? All the time. How many times have you been gibbed while rolling out of the way? Rarely. It is not a "cheap" tactic. It's the quickest way to immediately move about 10 feet in any of 4-directions.

What I do is I go to split-screen MP by myself and hone my movements. Split your tactics into 2-3 moves and work hard to chain them together so that it becomes fluid. Just playing XBL has its own training stimulus but also has distractions, like the other 4 mofos trying to blow your head off. You can't work on refined movements on XBL.

I don't think there's any need to go through intense split screen training to become useful with the shotgun, just mess around for a minute or two to see where the shotgun hits (without scoping) and adjust that to Xbox Live (for example, if you notice any sort of delay online then lead the opponent a bit with the shotgun and you should have no problem downing them).

Kind of sums it all up, something I always did but could never really sum into words like that, just kind of a gamers instinct. Never tried holding the R trigger though

Hey thanks for the tips.
wow, I finally don't suck with shotgun anymore... I've learned that aiming with the thing is barely useful unless the guy is standing still.
I totally agree. I still get frustrated if games consistently devolve into shotgun strafing duels though, because usually it's just the first person that accidentally takes cover instead of rolling that loses.

I've also learned how much more enjoyable the game is when you take out frag grenades :)

Fraggers are easy to get rid of, just walk backwards away from them when they come at you and shotgun them... you'll usually get them before they get you.

That's true, but the repeat fraggers usually don't whip it out unless they know you are stuck in a corner or backed up against something. And shotgunning them in time seems to barely have a 50% success rate since the gib range of the shotty seems shorter than the tag range of the grenade.

I really don't mind frag tagging except when you get 2 players on the opposing team that get nearly all their kills by camping around a corner just waiting to do it. (and there is a lot of people who do that A LOT). Lately I have been hosting games with frags swapped for boomshot. At least that's an insta-kill that requires some degree of skill and I don't mind dying to.

yeah, I barely play online. I play with friends, but I'm off and on. I like playing for a while, but then I start hitting a brick wall with annoying 2 year olds on my teams getting killed left and right... It's fun, but there are enough annoyancves to break my long periods of play.

and let me ask why the hell do people even enjoy doing the "tag with smoke grenade, then gangbang." Most of those people shy away from anything homo in their real life yet, act very gay online... then again, this happens in almost every other shooter >_<

That is why whenever I join Warzone (which is my staple mode), I always hope the host has set the bleed out time to 10 seconds. That way, even if I'm the last guy bleeding, I'll just die shortly. If you're not saved within 10 sec, you're usually shot dead anyway. It's annoying how most people set the time to 60 seconds. WTF?! That's why they have Execution mode if people really want to emphasize saving your partners as part of the game.

I didn't know that bad sportsmanship correlated with an act homosexuality...

Just curious, why does anyone prefer warzone over Execution? I can't stand going back to warzone anymore. Rounds are over way too quickly and people tend to mostly focus on long range fighting/weapons.

I don't mind either way, people will argue both ways. Both modes have their pros and cons. I mostly play warzone, but I'll switch it up to execution once in a while.

feel the same... the game was built really well for execution, but not warzone...

Totally disagree. Execution makes the power weapons too damn powerful. It depends on the bleed out setting though. If it is a longer bleed out time then I don't have too much of a problem with execution, but I still greatly prefer Warzone. Lately I have seen alot of people play this 5 second bleed out BS. On that setting all people do is snipe since it's one of the only weapons to finish someone in one hit.

The assault rifle is worthless on quick respawn Execution since I can put someone down from 10 feet away and they will be back up before I can get to them.

Picking someone up should be somewhat hard to do. They did get put down afterall, they should die most of the time

question to someone who mentioned it and I have heard alot of people say

How does playing in Execution make saving your team more important? Maybe protecting them more important but in execution rarely do I go around saving someone. normally i just make sure they cant get within finishing distance

So who's gonna be the first CAG with the seriously achivement? Since I got Viva Pinata, Fear and COD3 (and a Wii) I haven't been playing as much. I think I'm near 3k kills in Warzone overall.
