I saw you on earlier but i was already playing co-op with a pal.
i will be on literally ALL the time so im down to play.
im workign through it on hardcore atm but will play it through at least once on each difficulty.

I got mine at about 1 PM today, the CSR at BB said everyone's been coming in asking for GoW. Yeah, I went to Gamestop too since I had it preordered. I also preordered at BestBuy too since I wanted that free shirt and needed a backup in case Gamestop screwed me over. Well, I get out of class and stop in to Gamestop only to find out they didn't have it yet. I asked for my money back and drove across the street to BestBuy. Of course, I don't have the preorder slip from BestBuy since I preordered two copies there (one for me, one for my roomie) and my roommate actually had the preorder slip. No big deal I think, they probably have tons of copies. Wrong! The shelves were empty but after begging customer service (who had preorder copies behind the desk) they actually found two extra copies of the CE version. A man waiting to exhange his damaged 360 at customer service (who I talked to about COD3 while waiting) gladly took the other copy. When I asked what happened to all the copies they had in, he told me that they sold them all to unhappy Gamestop customers! BestBuy certainly gained a loyal customer today. GOW is awesome too!

I take it back. I went to the closest BB by me and as it turns out all the regular game stores have sold out, and this particular BB is the only one in my area that hasn't recieved a shipment. They didn't get it until 7 at night. Bullshit. I couldn't take it anymore so after work I went directly to Fry's, and all I have to say is thank g-d for Fry's. I picked up one of the last CEs (I like this one). They had only three left.

I saw this today at my BB and almost paid for it. I'm glad to know that CC is running a deal where you can get it for free. I'll go tomorrow buy it and return the game after a PM at BB. fuckers were supposed to have the game especially after I pre-ordered with them....well not really....I just made them give me a raincheck for the game week's in advance.

By the way, everybody who posts to this thread, hit me up on Live and send me friend request. Just be sure to put CAG or your CAG name in the description please.

Ahh, you're ppowers. Kept saying you were signing on and off. Sorry, I lose track of whose who on my buddylist since I primarly play XBL with my RL friends.

I'm totally psyched... I forgot Best Buy even had a faceplate, and as soon as I saw it there I knew I just had to try and get it.

Luckily I keep a copy of the BB / CC ad in the car, just in case ;)

This one is going on my 360 ASAP... I've been so busy I haven't even opened the game yet, but that's about to change in 5 minutes :D

I don't know. I do know that I played some dude and his guest online yesterday though.
 
does this game auto save after checkpoints.. im playing on the harder difficulty and havent seen any option to save..and really dont want to lose progress
 
I pre-ordered GoW at CC so that I would be guaranteed to have a copy on launch day. Even the local CC flyer says that they would have them Wed. by 5pm, but here I am still without any copy of GoW! Supposedly the truck didn't come in today, so no copies of GoW... man I hate CC!!!

Guess I'll have to try again tomorrow.

i did sign on and off a couple times.
where are you in the sp? i should be finishing up act one pretty quickly tomorrow. i wouldnt mind replaying the act as dom.

yes it auto saves. just shut your 360 off, when you comeback continue campaign and itll start you at the last scene/checkpoint.
 
Bah! Well, the game went and killed my 360. Played it for about 5 minutes and then the freezing started. Now all my games freeze after a short period of time. Ugh. what a shame.

:rofl: You must have shit your pants the first time you came across the B. I had something similar happen with my Lancer Rifle w/ chainsaw. I switched out for some rocket launcher type weapon and thought I'd never get it back, but I stumbled upon one later.

zewone said the same thing, but I still havent been able to figure out how. It doesn't work like PDZ/Ghost Recon does tho if it somehow works.

And if it works correctly you Really shouldnt be logged into another profile in profile 2 until it goes to the 4way split screen wher eyou can log on as GUEST.

You sign in with a gold account and before you choose quick match, custom match, etc...the second player has to press "Y" and sign in as Guest, not a silver account.

i activated my 48 hour trial from the game. so yeah i know a regular silver account can't. but with the 48 hour trial thing it should work. there's a bunch of threads on gamefaqs where people can't figure it out either.

Yeah, but if you want a guest to play, it doesn't need to be gold or anything--just look in the bottom of the versus menu thing, so that when you play it comes out like Gamertag and Gamertag(1)

I gotta' tell you, I didn't know what to make of GoW these last few months. When I did start to give it some thought, like others, I thought " Oh no here we go again" (Brute Force). I didn't really have any expectations. Although alot of the hype was not on the part of Epic, but from gamers and the media. I then thought maybe there is something here. Epic did not toot their own horn on this one. They let us do the tootin'.

I bought the game Nov 7 from EB Games. I have to tell you, do not give it thought beyond budget issues. This game is a must-buy! It goes above and beyond all the hype that preceded it.

Remember how we used to say "Damn, I wish the games could look like these cutscenes in the game" Guess what? Mission Accomplished! The best visuals to date including Oblivion! This game also has awesome gameplay. And for those of you who keep saying there is so much shoot and cover that a person can take. I got news for you. This game has variety. I just left the gas station, and there is a vehicle that you control that makes the warthog look like a hooptie!

As far as the comparisons to Halo go. I am not a Halo basher, nor am I a fanboy. But I have played Halo 1 and 2, and GoW does exactly what it is suppose to do to Halo, BUST ITS ASS! THere is no comparison, and just so. This is the first real Next Gen game that all others to come will be measured by/

Now Bungie has something to shoot for. If they can humble themselves and take a page from Epic's book and take gameplay elements from other great games and developers. then we should be in for a serious treat. So get your weight up Bungie! Because if they can accomplish such a feat, then we will be truly blessed to be XBOX 360 owners.

Conclusion: We should all be greatful for any game that comes along and revolutionizes its genre or the video game industry as a whole like Gears of War has done. Just think, the bar has now been raised and developers from other companies have taken notice. Now because of this, I am extremely anxious for games like Ninja Gaiden 2 and the such, because I know they are going to be SICK!

Finally, EPIC has a killer app that Epitomizes their name. Gears of War is truly Epic and goes above and beyond the Call of Duty.(No pun intended Activision)
 
people who want to play multiplayer into wee hours of the night and dont mind having their heads blown off consecutavley ADD ME AND YOULL GET AN INVITE

Just finished Act 1, and some multiplayer, then took a break and played FEAR

Heh, what an experience that was. Yesterday I thought FEAR looked and played great...

1) You're right, I'm a Halo fanboy. Pay no attention to the Gears avatar, or my constant posting in this thread and saying how good it is.

2) You're comparing Gears to Halo 2 and the original Halo, games that are two and five years old, respectively. There's a good chance you've played those alot and grown sick of them. You've been playing them for years. Gears is new and fresh.

3) I locked the topic because this is the official thread. Everything besides a deal on it or a CAG's review of it should be posted here. Your topic is not the only separate Gears thread I've locked.
 
That "boss" fight at the end of Act 1 was awesome, I liked it a lot. Now that I (finally) have the controls down pat, i'm liking this game a whole lot more. This game looks very different on a normal TV versus HDTV. Normally there's not too much of a difference, but you can definately notice the difference on here.

As far as Dom goes.. he's alright some of the time. I like that Cole Train guy better. Sucka!

Not quite sure, I've still got a few hours of playing time ahead of me. I'll let you know though.
 
Got a little tip, I'm probably the last person to notice it though. Anyways - when you hold A for the roadie run you do not need to hold the stick forwards, you will automatically run. With this in mind you can tilt the stick a lot more to the extreme left and right. Seemed to make a difference in manueverability during the run.

Okay guys, the key to playing as a guest:

The guest CAN NOT be signed in their live account or ANY live account. You just hit Y on the multiplayer screen with NO ACCOUNT SIGNED IN THAT CONTROLLER. Even if you have a silver account signed in, it won't work. It only works if there is one and only one account signed in, then you are his guest.

do you hit Y on the first player or 2nd player controller?
Good to hear it's possible though

Actually I don't know, I already shut everything off so I haven't tried it yet. I'm just telling you how it SHOULD work according to the weird MS guest rules.

I just think the reason everyone is having such trouble doing it is they are signing in their silver live accounts.
 
Just have yourself signed in as usual, with the second controller on. Once you hit the "Play Player match" or whatever it is, at the bottom it should say "Press Y to sign in as guest" Then it brings up the profile screen with all the Live accounts listed and a guest account at the bottom. Choose that and your good to go.

cool thanks, now I just have to convince my stubborn friend to play Gears of War. Even after the reviews and after playing it in Hollywood he's still saying it sucks ass....
 
Is there any way to change the settings in multiplayer so that you start with frag grenades. Its sucks starting with just smoke grenades.

My main problem with this game is that people will wait around a corner with a shotgun and wait for you to come. I know they are there but the most I can do is run in there with my shotgun and I hope I get lucky. Frag grenades would help a ton.

pretty sure there isn't for that. As for people around the corner many times I see that they stick out. usually the maps are designed well enough that you can go around them and chainsaw the damn campers ;).

I do find it strange how the shotgun can sometimes lead to a 1 hit kill though.

I didn't get to play today sadly due to the string of shows from lost all the way to colbert report, and since I missed yesterday's midterm midtacular I caught up on that. 8-12 all gone =(.
 
None at my CC either, they said they would get it tomorrow. I'm stacked with school and work until 7pm tomorrow so there better be some copies left for me and that damn faceplate. Hopefully they'll let me PM the Fry's adscan.
 
so is everyone paying the retail price of $60 for this game?? as a true CAG. i dont want to pay that lol. also i have some credit towards my paypal that i can use, but i dont see any deals out there. the one deal ive seen is for $40 from play-asia, but its n t even released on there or no idea if its region free or not...any info on this or possible other deals?? thanks

i did that and it's still not working. I think i HAVE to have a Gold account, it won't work on the 48 hour trial. the second player gets the option of Guest but when he clicks it it signs the first player out and says you can't use it.
 
Wow. I thought MP was just meh when I first played it. But after a couple hours, man is it awesome.

Also, can we compile a list of CAGers' Live tags with GoW so we can get together and play some MP?
