Maybe it's the fact I played at the 3 in the morning with random people. I didn't like the fact that when you spawn you can pretty much see the other team already. I'll have to play it some more.
 
I can't connect to friend game invites. It says I don't have content that the host has, though I have downloaded the map pack and the update. Do I have to jump into some random multi game first so it recognizes the map pack? Sorry I couldn't join your game today ppowers. That was the problem I was running into.
 
Old Bones is good. I like it alot since it is open up with some hallways.

Raven Dawn is fast but boring. Even though, there is cover... no one uses it. It is a mob mentality type board where a group runs together and just shotguns.

I hate the new lobbies. I don't get that many options anymore and normally they are of poor ratings with foriegners.

And yes... it seems the chainsaw has vastly become too powerful. A guy hit me with it with his backturned to me.
 
eh, i honestly wasnt feeling raven until i got into a good game, we ended up running it back to 19, GREAT time. i like how different you have to play it.
the more ive played the more strategy comes around. if you play it right the mobs dont win.

anyhow i still want a friggin party system.
and how come zewone has a 90% win ratio. fucker =)
 
I tried out raven down earlier, when I finally was able to connect. It was ok until one kid starting complaining that the map was cheap because he kept dying. I've yet to try the other new map but from the sound of it it sounds better then raven.

You sure you didn't dl "Map Pack 1 Trailer" or "Map Pack 1 Theme"? I did that.

We should be happy they gave us any free maps at all. I certainly would've payed quite a bit for them. Pretty much, whatever they wanted to charge. I've put so many hours into Gears that it would be justified to me.


I just hope they do release some additional maps after this.

Well it is a more accessible map because it is much more run and gun than duck and cover. I am not complaing. Epic could make a map where you are fighting a a giant container of horse shit and I'm sure anyone who likes GOW would pony up money for it.

Yea, I don't have many complaints about the new map. It's small but like someone said earlier, it's nice to have something different added. Anyone on and want to play a few rounds I'll probaby be on. So add me.

i like old bones. i dont like the sniper though, it should be a torque. raven down is just a shotty fest, which is beautiful for the host.

i still rather play the old maps, thats just my opinion.
 
After playing all the maps, I have to say that Old Bones has the best placement of weapons... It's a level that seems to give both teams an even chance to pick up the bigger weapons (ie. Boomer/Longshot). Also, it's the only level that should be played with less rounds seeing as it's the largest level.

It's nice that Epic gave two levels on two totally different sides of the spectrum... cramped tiny level and huge gargantuan area.
 
My problem with raven down is it's a whoever can run to whoever first map. There's really no strategy involved which has kept me going in Gears. It's a run with the shotty out as a team ( if they even talk or don't leave you ....) and blast away. No worries about cover or anything. Sure it's nice that it's fast paced which is another part of the game I like but it's almost too fast.

Another thing I have to ask is before the patch I would be able to join games easily no problems. Now since the patch I normally get a half of a list of matches, all but 1 will have 3 or less players in it :(, and I get can't connect to host alot. This happens at my house, my girlfriends, and at my brothers friends house. Each of us have different providers as well :(.

Also ever since they got rid of host name in the list. I find that people can stack teams just as easy still and when they don't get everyone in they just abandon the current game :(.

You can still use cover easily. The way you want to play is to sit back and bait the other players. All the spawn points have good cover... it's when you run into the center of the map that you loose most of the good cover spots.

i think maybe 2 or 3 of 12+ games i couldnt join.
sucks for those that it effects though.
as far as raven, i think the closeness makes it more tactical, i think as time passes youll see more and more of peopel ditching the new run around game play and settle in to a far more tactical game. thats exactly what happened as i played today.
 
Man I'm really liking these new maps. Played each once. Raven is a nice qick contact map in a compact area and old bones is a nice spacious open loop.
 
This game is too easy, it's like bitches are waiting in the line at DMV and I just shotgun em all down in a row.

Need challengers.

I wonder if we will ever get some additional single player/coop missions. I hope they don't keep releasing multiplayer content and forget about those of us that don't play multiplayer too often. I would still like to be able to play as Cole and Baird.

They sponsored the two new map packs, so perhaps the person you heard it from just got it confused.

So, is anyone else done with this game, as a result of the patch?

I tried to play with two buddies yesterday and it was impossible. Player matches are terrible, with people coming and going as they please - and that's assuming you can even fill a room.

I've put probably 100 hours into this thing, but if I can't play with my friends, that's the end of that. Hopefully Lost Planet will have fun multiplayer, or else we'll all switch to Vegas, I guess. : /

honestly, the lack of a party system has had a very negative effect for almost everybody ive talked to. if this game didnt have system link mp yea id be about done.
 
the thing that bothers me the most about the patch is every game I played last night... no matter what the connection strength... would shoot up a connection error in the middle resulting in people quiting, leaving a 2 on 3 type match up. Before the patch, I saw this only occur once. also, the amount of games to choose from has been limited... I only see about 6-7 each time I refresh when i know there are alot more out there. Before I had a lot to chose from.

About playing with your friends.... It is still possible to do it so stop crying. I have played with my roommate many of times after the patch. You just have to look for the exact same setup by searching specifically i.e. search execution and 8 rounds, then look for the level you want to play. About every room I am in, I play against friend clubs/clans. Half of the time the rooms don't even fill up anymore thus making it that much easier for people to come into the same room together.

Agreed. I much prefer playing co-op, than playing versus.

you never answered where you ride? your probably the guy who brags about his, "big air" or your "bag of tricks" then can barely ride. then again maybe not.
