General Fighting Game Thread 3 is full of scrubs (except Markman, ReRo, and Beef)
Excuse me? Femme Fatale tournament? Are you kidding me? Way to make girls feel more alienated than they already are guys.
I agree with that point, but I still think it's a neat idea. I think anyway it's shown it will be a negative. I remember AI doing one last year.

TvC Prediction: East Coast Takes Top 8. Dudes are the only guys who play that competitively.

Here's hoping the Player's Choice game is Melty Blood AA. East Coast can take Top 8 in that too :)

What a pain, living on the east coast and growing up in Cali (SoCal for those of you who are into segregation
j/k ... kinda
), who do I cheer for?

You're crazy uraizen, high level CVS2 is a snoozefest to watch. It's just turtling and guardbreaks, although CC's are pretty tight.

At least with Marvel you can have shit like Sanford winning with team Scrub, pulling some crazy ass tricks that a bunch of people have never seen, like using commando's assist to make cables dash ambiguous because he's covered by the blue explody shit.

I have to agree with Heavy Marvel > CvS2. I never could get into CvS.
Also, vanilla BlazBlue sucks, terrible ass balancing.
Perhaps but they can't afford to bring in cabs for CS, it would cost way to much and they would have to charge a premium for BB which doesn't have a huge turn out anyway. Just look at this as the last hurra for Nu players.

I would laugh if MB made the spot, that would just be crazy. It might boost the player base though if it happened.

If that happened, then I'd be all for Mahvel.

Donation from arc systems? BlazNu is going to be boring as fuck to watch.

yo yjdk. girl tournaments are the new thing.

theyre like the lady gaga of street fighter, heavy rotation in your station

Really Jekki? I mean... really?
I'd rather have CvS2 over Mahvel.
While this may be true...
I have to agree with Heavy Marvel > CvS2. I never could get into CvS.
...this is just plain incorrect.

This is the correct answer. I love me some CvS2, but Marvel is easily the most entertaining to watch.

I wouldn't be surprised if Aksys holds a BlazBlue: CS exhibition tournament in a similar fashion to what Namco did with T6. They probably won't have the console release out till fall anyways.

I'm all for Mahvel as the fan-voted game. Like the game or not, high level Marvel matches are super exciting to watch.
If that happened, then I'd be all for Mahvel.

Team Scrub= CapCom/Sent/Cable

CVS2 is my favorite fighting game ever, but I also agree that it's boring to watch at high levels (unless you REALLY love the game). Also (obviously) you start to see the same kind of teams dominate tournaments. Where's that A-Groove Nako?
Team Scrub= CapCom/Sent/Cable
Wait, what? Seriously? fuck that shit, already voted for 3s anyway.
Wait, what? Seriously? fuck that shit, already voted for 3s anyway.
Same here. As boring as it is to watch 3S Chun, this is an open shot to see Rom's Yang or Emphy's Urien. Fun times!

SF4 and SF2 are the only pure SF games that should be at evo. Third Strike, Marvel, and even CvS have all ran their courses. That said, I'd probably pick CvS2 or SFA2-or-3 over Marvel and Third Strike.

Ban Yun, Yang, Ken and Chun from the next 3s tourney for the hell of it. I'm sure it'd be a lot more interesting. Probably less people but way more fun to watch.

Yang and Ken aren't even that overpowered. They're like Ryu level in IV, all you need is Yun and chun gone and you'd see more cool stuff. URIEN!!!
Yang?!
that's because in the american version he only has Kick

in the Japanese version he has a move to store up power and release it after one turn, as well as one where he blocks everything for like 0 damage.

Top tier fo' sho', then he goes all martyr, dude cheats death, ends up banging some fine ass fairy chicks, and comes back flying some airship an' shit, firing cannons at this giant ass robot. GDLK
All about that Melty Blood AA for Evo. Don't fight it, embrace it.
I love me some Melty Blood, but to be honest (in the States) does anyone outside East Coast and some Midwest play that shit?

I vote no.

I'll admit, I lul'd. Yea let me tell you man.. people on the East Coast definitely do play Melty Blood, and they are the most vile people in existence. Picture in your mind the biggest weeaboo you know, and now imagine a room full of clones of that person. And such you have, the Melty Blood players.

Dude.. I'll tell you where. I went to UMBC for 5 years... they've invaded that university. My girl still goes to school there. It's also the big meet-up spot from Mid-Atlantic fighting game players... it's just ridiculous there. There's like 10 or so players who strictly play Pokeyman Brawl... weirdest people I've ever met.

MarkMan you made a fine arcade stick on the Wii. TvC is great with it but I was playing Gaplus with it tonight too. I wish there were more Virtual Console Arcade titles!
Gamefly hasn't sent my TvC yet. I'm am disapoint
You have it setup so it's the only game on your list, yea?
You have it setup so it's the only game on your list, yea?
I do and they still havent sent it >_<

Well, I am now officially 25 years old. Not as old as some of you and older than some of you.

I had a nice party down at an art gallery during the closing of a show i curated. It was nice since some friends' bands played and I got to smoke some cigars with close friends. I do regret not going to a party after the show with this girl I've been hitting on, but whatever, Ill make up for it eventually.

^_^

Happy Birthday ReRo!

Happy B-day Rolento. I too will be 25 in a couple of months.

Would anyone be interested in having a CAG FGT HD Remix night? It probably makes the most since because of the player match system.

lol I do feel bad for you. Guess the worst thing I saw when I was still in school was guys in their twenties playing/talking about pokemon. That I thought was some pretty sad shit.

So what do you guys do with your Arcade Stick once you're done for the night? Do you keep it out? Do you put it on the shelf? Back in its' original box?
lol I do feel bad for you. Guess the worst thing I saw when I was still in school was guys in their twenties playing/talking about pokemon. That I thought was some pretty sad shit.
Yea man.. I know exactly what you mean. These people are beyond sad. They completely encapsulate themselves in an artificial world of anime, video games, Asian music and movies, etc. Since they don't share group identity with mainstream society, they choose to further isolate themselves and end up becoming fascinated with some other culture, one not their own. The only question is; why Japan? Why not Norway? Or Zimbabwe? Or Fiji? I guess they become Japanophiles because Japan produces all the things they obsess over. They start to learn Japanese, try to get Asian girlfriends (I haven't actually seen any of them succeed), and do whatever it takes to further alienate themselves from the mainstream culture... it's really kind of messed up to witness just how out of touch with reality these people actually are.

I can't say it is a bad thing that they brake away from the mainstream of society, but only if it where to further develop their own since of self. From how you are describing it it seems to me they are the video game equivalent of fanatic sports fans, hippie vegans or the overly zealous religious people. But what can you do, people find comfort in these things. It is easier than making the changes needed to be what they desire.

Perhaps if/when you go back for your masters this could be your thesis?

On a fighting game note I got my ass handed to me today trying out a new Marvel team, Heavy or Jim could one of you explain how to better use Tron in a Jugs team?

I haven't decided if I want to do my masters in human services or business management yet... but anyway, back to the topic. I agree with your premise. There's nothing wrong with breaking from the mainstream and forming your own sense of identity. I don't fit into the mainstream, neither does my girlfriend, neither are many of our friends. But what weeaboos do is a little bit different. Weeaboos attempt to become something that they're not, they attempt to become Asian. It's kind of the equivalent of wiggers or chiggers or whatever. It's an attempt to find belonging through the adoption of another culture's norms and values.. the only problem is they fail. As far as I can tell, Asians have no respect for weeaboos. No one really does.. except other... lesser weeaboos.
Weeaboos attempt to become something that they're not, they attempt to become Asian. It's kind of the equivalent of wiggers
Ah ok now that I understand 100% if that is the case with them, than to hell with them. There are enough fake ass people in this world already, it's nice to see some things never change. :wall:

Yea man but it's not like they're doing something evil or anything.. I just think that they're harming themselves and blocking their own personal growth. I think a little bit of self-insight would do them a lot of good... they just need to be reached, just like a lot of people with mental/emotional problems.
