General Fighting Game Thread 3 is full of scrubs (except Markman, ReRo, and Beef)

It's difficult to reach out to these people since most of the time they have no real social connection. There isn't anyone outside of the gaming/otaku community to give them a reality slap in the face. But I will say there isn't anything wrong with being intrested in a culture that isn't your own, infact it should be encouraged. I love Japan, however I don't limit myself to Akihabara when I visit.

People get obsessed with Japan 'cause its got a pretty damn interesting cultural output that resembles Western cultural stuff...as opposed to the other places you mentioned that obviously have their own thing going on, but are not even close to the same level (in terms of variety and sheer volume.) Though no doubt there are africa-philes, norweigian-philes scandinavia-philes, etc. But the U.S. and Japanese have been obsessed with each other's cultural and technological output since World War 2...weeaboos are a weird offshoot of that.

It's not a bad culture to be into...there's a hell of a lot of interesting stuff going on in Japan. It's just that the people who are purely in it for the video game/anime aspect often take the obsession/fetish part too far and lose sight of who they are in relation to it. I think the amount of actual otakus like that are far fewer than the internet would lead one to believe, though. Of course, there's a big stigma attached to it now, as a result of all the otaku shit on the internet. I tell people I'm interested in east asian studies and I usually have to explain at some point that that doesn't mean I'm an otaku at all :lol:

I did okay in the singles event. I played vs Korea's rain first round (by request) then worked my way through losers beating some soso and good/known players. Finally ran into the wall that is MYK (http://iamtekken.com) and was eliminated.

In the team tournament however, I fared much better. My team ended up sending the Korean team to losers and riding that momentum all the way into the winners finals. We ended up getting second overall. Not too bad considering SDT barely practices together nowadays! Everyone should really watch the goods though, the matches were amazing.

Na, Jugs is the main. I wanna try something that does not use the 4 big names. I have read at a few places that Tron is the best/ highest dmg assist in the game and I was wanting to combo that with Jugs since head crush is really damaging. I did not have any really luck with Tron as an assist, more so with so much of the meta game using the big four, I only started doing a lot better once I bought in Cyke as my aaa. Was wondering if you had any xp playing with her as a assist.

Damn ty Asian I never would have thought to pick Doom and would have just kept using Cyke for a aaa. And of all people its MikeZ lol. I have give this shit a try and see how it plays out.
 
Tron is definitely the most damaging assist in the game, but she also dies for free against a number of characters on block, especially cable. You need to be really careful with comboing into her and covering her, especially since Juggs and Doom cannot do this too well because of their shit mobility.




You could always count on Doom runaway to try to clutch it out though hahahahah

round 3, again, he falls to it
round 4, he finally got smart and started ducking, then countering throw
round 5 starts and i just go ballistic and play for real

At about 3:52 or so in that vid, Ken does his F+MK but stop right in the middle of it before he even sticks his toe out. It wasn't a kara throw, kara SRK, kara taunt, etc. So what was it and more importantly, how did he do it?

I think I'd pick it up...but with SNK's release date track record, it will be fucking irrelevant by the time it makes it to the US. It took what, 14 months to get Samurai Shodown Anthology here?

BTW...I know I haven't been around this thread for a while, but I may actually pick up T6 if I can find it for $20 or less...I lent my stick and some fighting games to a friend for a while so I could focus on some RPGs (still need to finish Rogue Galaxy!) and MW2. Got it back a few days ago...and I'm itching to play some SFIV.

Ah, don't have much experience against Team Z.. I can tell you though that landing those jump in HP with Juggernaut is gonna be a lot harder than it looks in that tutorial video lol.

I only really use Jugs as an assister. I don't mess with Tron too much because like Heavy said, she pretty much dies for free.

I generally use Cyclops or CapCom as my assist (AA of course), sticking with Sentinel and Cable as my other two. Sometimes I'll branch out and use Blackheart or occasionally Iron Man.

Some other assists that you might wanna check out (not great, but can be fun / useful in the right settings)

Colossus - Dash (Some nice combo set-ups) and AA (just overall a good AA assist, pretty strong)
Blackheart - AA
Gambit - Projectile (Cards will "hold" the opponent in the air for like half a second, can lead to some interesting combo set-ups)

I would post more but Comcast closes soon and my stupid HD box is broken. Like I said these aren't top-flight assists but if you are looking to stay away from Top Tier they might be worth checking out.

I'm not Marvel pro either, just a heads up. Just a formerly above average player who hasn't kept up with the scene lol.



Also, those NGBC screens look more like the old sprites with a filter on them then "re-drawn" IMO. I would be up for HD Remix but Lost is on :)

I don't know about Tron, she really is free to the point of pissing me off if I call her at a bad time. Really just messing around with differnt set ups I have never used over the years. The only person I won't use is CapCom. He is good but god damn every one picks him. I'll check out Blackheart don't think I ever spent any real time with him.

Yeah I expect the SNK shit to be broken, but was just wondering what everyone else thought. I actually hate NGBC for reasons I think everyone here already knows why.
 
Mark = #1 weeaboo FGT member. I might pick up NGBC. I've never played it before and it looks good.. although I've heard it actually isn't.
