Shit got deleted. Damn shame too, because it was fucking hilarious.

I played LBPPSP last night for about two hours. It's succeeding in convincing me that not only is it a great game, but ti's making me want to try and track down two more controllers and bang out the last few 100%'s I need to get in the LBPPS3. And I'm by no means a perfectionist! Also, I love Sackboy. Adorable character... maybe I'll tattoo him onto my body. Probably not. But there's hope ;) But I do need a video game related tattoo. Metal Gear Rex maybe? I don't know. Hah, one at a time.

Any of you folks got tattoos?
I'm not paying for 2 fucking online services
This is the first year since it launched that I am not renewing my subscription to Xbox Live. Two RRoD in one year on my launch model and the replacement have completely turned me off to my Xbox. It's now with my dad so he can stream Netflix and play Peggle. Crazy bastard loves that game. But to my point: If Sony offers a paid membership, I wouldn't mind. They have a decent system going for them now, and charging for a "premium" service only means that they can improve upon what they have already.
we are studying the possibility of introducing a subscription model, offering premium content and services, in addition to the current free services.
This sounds like a better system than Gold/Silver Live membership.

Either way, this is on my radar. I'm curious to see where it goes from here.

What was it about Ahadi, in a nutshell? :)

Seanrrrr, I scanned through all the BF ads but there's really nothing out there for a simple HTiB. They all have a DVD player doubling as a receiver for the speakers, and unless you want that, it's a bit of a waste both performance wise and space as you don't need an extra dvd player I'm sure.

I'll send you a PM with tips and questions about what you need or are looking for.
Personally, I'd buy an A/V receiver and then build that up by buying good, but 2nd hand speakers for the Left, Right and Center, and cheapies for the rears and sub (then upgrade those in the future).

I've got all kinds of speakers at my place so my setup is a bit of a mutt. (Snell speakers for left and right, Emotiva center, Paradigm rears, Velodyne subwoofer)
Then a pair of 5ft Magnepan speakers in the bedroom with a cheap Sony sub.

All of these I bought used, either from Craigslist or ebay (for one of them, sub was new though). I had the sellers test them for me when I looked at them, etc.

I just bought these beauties/monsters off Craigslist but have to take them back as there are rips in the ribbons. :(

Some chick who works for Gamestop got fired by some 30 year old creep with a kid who would come in to the store for hours at a time to hang out. The dude tracked down the Regional and General managers who were on the other side of the state - all because the chick played Scribblenoughts a few days earlier than it was supposed to be released.

The nutshell doesn't make it as funny. Damn...

@seanr1221, That's sick. I remember a while back there being a thread in the off topic section about someone with red suited Spider-Man and black suited Spider-Man as a trap stamp or something. Was that you?

I've got a D20 on the inside of my bicep and Skywalker's ROTJ lightsaber on my tricep. And now I'm in the process of getting a 40k tattoo on my upper shoulder.

Off to play LBPPSP. G'luck folks.

edit: I found this on Craigslist last night during a bout of insomnia. What do you guys think? Am I crazy for not jumping on this?

I used to play that exact arcade forever at the local gas station.

---

Is there a cheaper way to get a legit copy of Planescape Torment (disc or download?) All I've seen are copies for 80-90 bucks!

I dropped a hint in with Santa about that Street Fighter cabinet. That'd be a merry Christmas

LBPPSP turned into Monster Hunter. That game can be fucking frustrating :bomb:
Thats bullshit, was that an extended warranty you bought from Target (I assume it was)?
Yup. It was 3 year warranty. They said the 360 was recalled (which it wasn't) and I already dealt with Microsoft and took the box up to UPS. Target has kind of lost my business forever.

I fully expect Microsoft to call me and say that they're charging me for the repair even though it got the RRoD.

You know I've been listening to a lot of the DJ Hero Mixes (via Youtube) and i'm really liking the music, but I so wish that it gets Rock Band level of DLC support
Looks like we'll get Dead Space 2 info soon since there's a teaser about it for the next OPM UK.

I never played the first one. It kind of seemed like Bioshock to me. And Bioshock didn't strike a chord with me. Maybe I'll give it another go at some point :whistle2:k
Yeah, good one Thomas.
2 tracks a month sounds more likely.
That's not bad.. 2 per month. As long as they're consistent with it.

lol I thought I was the only that couldn't really get into Bioshock... I tried... but I didn't like it. Funny I have Dead Space.. and I love the game, but dammit it got so lost in the shuffle... I bought it last year for black friday and I haven't played it since. shame on me... DS is not like Bioshock - edit - imho of course.

Well Dead Space is on my shopping list now. I'm gonna have an incredible weekend buying games. But yeah, Bioshock. I played it for a while and kept wondering "when's the fun part?".

Bioshock is one of those games that either sucks you in from the start or doesn't for the most part. If the atmosphere and story etc. haven't grabbed you by the first hour or two (if not faster) then its probably wise to ditch it and not spend the time on it as it doesn't get much better.

I loved it from start to finish personally.
That's not bad.. 2 per month. As long as they're consistent with it.
How can that be good when just a moment ago you were hoping for RB like DLC which is 2x-5x that every week?

Being a "Hero" game, I knew the DLC would be slow though.

Yeah, I just wasn't feeling the love. And I was and still am wicked disappointed by that too, because I was so pumped for it to come out.

Side note: I'm trying to be a bit more active on Goozex these days and I managed to get three of my games selected to be sent out. The problem now is that my parents told me that we had a pipe burst in the basement where I was keeping them and they are now water damaged. I had to cancel the trades and told the story in the cancellation box. I hope there's no backlash from this.

Assuming those games are disc games, they're probably ok. Once the trades are canceled you can relist them as disc only (after testing them out of course). Same point value, just take longer to match up since many request full package.

I loved Bioshock, but I also have to say that Dead Space doesn't feel anything like Bioshock.

Also, Dead Space was pure awesome.

This is one of those "throw everything out" kind of pipe burst. It's a shame too, because the basement had my gaming table in it. 5' x 10' of pure war gaming goodness and hours of home made terrain.

My comparison of Bioshock to Dead Space is actually a really bad one. They're both first person shooters.

Dead Space is one of the best games of 2008

Question: what's one way to get people to give even less of a shit about a service they already don't give a shit about?

Answer: Charge for it.

Just saying.

What service is this, praytell? I assume you're talking about PSN premium, or whatever the hell they're doing.
I'm pretty sure Sony said that everything already on PSN will remain free. Netflix and Online-play are about the only things I would care about -- the only way to fuck this up is if they decide to try to charge for cross-game-party-chat -- which is what seems to get the kids hard these days.

Sony can't get away with PSN being free this generation. They're probably going to do another Qore type service (Is that thing still going?), but maybe with stuff gamers actually want.

QFT. It'll be interesting to see what "Valued Added" proposition Sony can come up with. But they'll always be a segment of the PS3 population who will pay up for anything Sony offers.

For the PSP, I can envision a rental service that works like this:
1) Pay $X.XX for a 3, 5, 7 day rental, or maybe something like Gamefly (1-3 rentals paid on a monthly basis)
2) You continue to rent the game until you "check it back in" (like a traditional DVD rental store). Puts the onus of game management on the user, although Sony could certainly develop a "kill switch."
3) You can apply the amount of money you've spent on the rental towards a full purchase.
4) You own the game when the total sum of your rentals equals the cost of the game.

Case in Point: Someone bought my inFamous "Home Avatar" costume (Amazon exclusive) for $35 on eBay.

I'm trying to think of my top 5 games of the year, but whenever I think of a list like this, I always think of the games that came out in the past couple months.

Hm..

In no particular order

Infamous
Batman: AA
Demon's Souls
Uncharted 2

and

..?

I never do a top 5. I do a top one.

Assuming I can't give the award to Fallout 3 more than once, thus far it goes to Batman.

MW2 is fun but more of the same in many ways (still has Marines flying into combat in SH-60s dur...)
I haven't played Uncharted 2 yet.
I'm more intrigued by NSMB Wii than I was a couple weeks ago when I heard the bad news about waggle but I haven't tried it yet.
ODST was Halo 3 with a few new tricks but Halo 3 didn't win my vote in 2007.
Resident Evil 5 was... well, the less said the better.

PSP rental service would be cool, for like two months, until you run out of games to play.

just sayin'

Cause that seems to be my experience every time I get back into that system. PS3 is kinda the same way. I used it for blu ray this weekend, that's something!

Don't feel it would be fair to pick one until I finish AC2 and Uncharted 2. AC2 has been very enjoyable so far (about 9 hours in, 43 percent synchronization).

Fallout 3 will probably be up there since I didn't play it until this year, and I put at least 120 hours and 3 playthroughs into it so far.

Mine:

Batman
Uncharted 2
Infamous
Dragon Age
Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2

Doubt I will get them in before the end of the year, but Red Faction Guerilla and Borderlands I didn't play yet either. I probably played more games this year than any other and the only ones I didn't enjoy were Prototype, Wanted, and Brutal Legend.

My top games of the year are probably:

Batman: Arkham Asylum
Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
Assassin's Creed 2
Plants vs. Zombies

There are still a few I'd like to play that could get up there, like Red Faction Guerilla and New Super Mario Bros. Wii.

My top 3:

Batman: AA
GTA: Chinatown Wars
Infamous

Honorable Mentions:
Uncharted 2
F3:GOTY (which I haven't come close to finishing yet)
PiCOBiTS
Dissidia: Final Fantasy

3 playthroughs? Seriously? Though I suppose I might've considered a second full playthrough if I wasn't so off-put by the level cap. 3 seems insane to me.
I wish there was a Dead Space GotY version with all the DLC... DLC killed the unlockables, $35 worth of DLC.
Dead Space had DLC?! I mean, beyond the free suits? Damn.

1st time through I played a good character and did all of the side missions and such.

2nd time through was as a neutral character to get the karma/level trophies (cheated to get the evil ones by stealing tons of stuff before leveling up) - also got the bobbleheads since I missed the Raven Rock and 101 ones on my initial play.

3rd time is the one I started once the GOTY came out so I could play all the way through with the new content in play. May do one more evil one after this since I have never blown up Megaton.

lol pretty sure the only DLC was those stupid weapon upgrades

I finished Tales of Monkey Island 4 early this morning. It's definitely good but my least favorite in the series so far. 3 was my favorite just because there was some good character interaction between Guybrush and Morgan. Although the cliffhangers they put on the end of these things makes me really excited for the next one. Well...3's for 4 wasn't too good, which is I guess why I didn't like 4 that much.

I'm also only a couple hours short of finishing God of War II for PS3. I honestly don't remember the game being this good.
