Yea, it is pretty cool.

I just feel pretty damn guilty for taking all that for free. I'm still getting the Collectors edition and I will definitely purchase all their DLC to make up for it. But, it is nice to get the blood dragon armor and Gamestop stuff.
I don't really feel guilty, but I'm with you on buying all the DLC, I'll be buying that stuff the minute it comes out.

I just hope all the DLC sounds as promising as the first pack.
You should have known that she would have been a option the moment we saw that character trailer. Also
Tali romance confirmed

OMG, GREAT NEWS! I think I'll get her instead of Miranda now... Though Miranda does look like a fox....

I'm hoping she is an option for my lady Shepard... but I doubt it. My only option will probably be the other blue chick or the crazy chick.

I still haven't decided if I should pickup ME2 day one or not. I have a massive backlog already, but I do have a $60 GC to TRU. :whistle2:k

no offense to those who want heavy rain, and again, I'm impressed with it in terms of what it wants to do, but the actual gameplay makes me lol so much.

also glad to see Mass Effect 2 shipped to me today from gamefly.... bad week to do so though since I got alot of important work due next week.

Beat Bayonetta. Amazing game, I think Jeanne was my favorite character in the whole thing!
I can't wait to unlock her!
Next thing I gotta do is beat it on Normal, but I don't think I'll be doing that anytime soon with ME2 coming out tomorrow.

Heavy Rain.
Looks so damn good.
I don't understand why you LOL rero, of all people.

And Sean, saw that this morning, solves that problem. Wanted that game anyway. (so long as the online is free)

I think it's just the idea of the level of interaction of the game that makes me lol not because its bad (cuz it hopefully isnt) but I just find it funny to do a guesture for every cutsceney thing. It takes me back to space ace for no reason.

But again, don't think I'm bashing, I'm just being skeptical and hoping for the best.

Yea, Heavy Rain looks amazing. If done well, it is a game that can change the industry (parts of it atleast). I'm not saying every game should/will be like it, but hopefully it will open up a more Mature side of games that is actually taken seriously.

But, really 2010 seems like it will be a poor year for games (for me). Unlike last year, there are no titles that I am drooling to have (AC2, U2 ect.). I mean, Mass Effect 2 will most likely be my favorite game of all time - and it is one of my most anticipated games of all time. But for the rest of the year? Nothing really... I mean, GoW3 looks fun, Heavy Rain looks really cool and I can't wait to play Red Dead. But, nothing is causing me to say, "This game is my most anticipated game!!!" Hopefully I'm provin wrong. Anyone have anything they are REALLY looking forward to this year? Outside of tomorrow? =P

Wow, that's cool--MHT controller bundle! I might actually get that game now.

I wish the 360 ME2 DLC was cross-compatible with the PC version like the Blood Armor code in DAO. I grabbed all that free stuff anyways...
It has no option for controller input. I hate kb and mouse controls. On top of that I hate PC gaming. It's probably just a mental thing, but gaming for me is relaxing on my couch in front of my big, HDTV.
Get yourself Logitech Cordless Rumblepad 2 controller. You can easily map mouse (and keyboard) to this controller's analog sticks/buttons.

I use it to play ME1 and DA:O on my projector in glorious 1080p. FYI the video signal goes over a 75 foot monoprice DVI cable and looks crystal clean. If you have a powerful enough PC you should seriously consider getting the PC version. In addition to better visuals, you're also able to use mods (very handy on DA:O).

I have to agree. This year is primarily Q1 and Q2 stuff. Only good stuff I see past Q1 I want is Super SFIV and Lost Planet 2.

I hope you can turn off the motion controls...that may kill the game from me
Alan Wake
Dead Rising 2

Possible 2010s.... Last Guardian, L.A. Noire
forgot about those... though Alan Wake actually made me sad at the last E3... not what I was expecting based off the initial showings.
If someone modded DA:O with something from Bible Black, I'm sure Rei would look into it. ;)
So true.

And Heavy Rain looks fantastic.
Anyone else gonna get this?

http://www.amazon.com/Deadly-Premonition-Xbox-360/dp/B002WSR8BC

Deadly Premonition (used to be Rainy Woods)

This is a full price title in Japan for 360, PS3, developed by Access Games.

Ignition is bringing it over next month for 360 only (booo!) but for $19.99 (yay!)
Seems like cheap fun.
The game seemed interesting until I read this:
Various mini-games such as fishing and racing which add to the experience.
Still, $19.99 (9.98 clearance!) is hard to resist...

I was wondering what happened to that game. In the original trailer, every. other. fucking. scene. was a Twin Peaks/David Lynch reference.

Read in the game's wiki that they delayed and changed the game because everyone called them out on the blatant rips. As corny and dishonest as the premise was, I was gonna get the game just for the lynch references.

I hope you can turn off the motion controls...that may kill the game from me

so all you have left is a shitty movie about a guy brushing his teeth :l

That Vandal Hearts game is so disappointing I want to cry. I was a HUGE fan of the original game on the PS1. I've beaten it like 15 times. Even if this new one was a good game, the art style is so bad I want to vomit every time I look at it.

Reminds me of SF4. :whee:
Reminds me of SF4. :whee:
I agree with you there. That's one reason I just couldn't get into SF4. Everytime someone got punched and they'd make one of those stupid fucking faces that looked like it was straight out of Facebreaker. Ugh.

whoops, you said motion controls, not QTE.

but still, what's left, a shitty game about a guy brushing his teeth. I don't use this term lightly, but Heavy Rain is straight up pretentious. I could give a fuck about drying someone off with a towel, brushing some bro's teeth, or even putting in QTEs to keep the continuity of an action scene going. Is there any reason this game can't be pre-recorded to a Blu-ray or DVD and be one of those cheesy "DVD games" that requires you to use a remote control? there's just nothing new about Dragon's Lair...

Games like this need to go under a test, imo--ask yourself if it would still be fun to play if the characters were basic polygon models and the production values were low. if not, the game sucks.

All the devs have proven is that they're good at graphics. Congrats on the great graphics devs, here's your cookie, I'm a go play some Bayonetta k thx.

Rant over.

Oh wait, no it's not.

Heavy Rain sucks shit.

Rant over.

Didn't you just describe Indigo Prophecy? Which I liked.
Didn't you just describe Indigo Prophecy? Which I liked.
I'm talking barebones, VF1 with no textures models. i'm getting at gameplay here.

In all fairness, graphics can add to the experience just as much as anything else or detract from it like in that previous mention of SF4. Sure, good gameplay should be the foundation but other things can make up for gameplay that might not be top notch. Whether it's the story, graphics, or anything else.

I guess my philosophy is that graphics, story, etc. never really patch it all up if the gameplay isn't good. Then again, I get most of my aesthetic/narrative taste satisfied by movies/music/art-in-general, so I like games to be almost all about the gameplay.

It's kind of odd that that's all you see in Heavy Rain.
Unlike Dragon's Lair, you really do make choices in the game. Allow people to live or die, love or hate you, see you or hide from them.

I personally can't wait to play and perform all the minutiae

Unlike Dragon's Lair where it's "do this or game over", you really do make choices in the game. Allow people to live or die, love or hate you, see you or hide from them.

I personally can't wait to play and perform all the minutiae of waking up in the morning. Do I brush my teeth or not? Do I make food for my kid? If I make him food, do I just throw some cereal together, or make him a nice sandwich. Do I just go outside and sit down until the bus arrives? That's just the intro/tutorial of the story.
I actually get excited just thinking about it. There's a demo the 11th, not sure if I'll spoil it then.

I'm going to be playing this game over and over. I can understand what you mean about the gameplay itself. I really don't mind, it's just a little different.

I do personally believe like Rei that poor gameplay can be made up by other factors. Somtimes I like a little style over substance.
(i don't consider HR style over substance though)

Gameplay is by far the most important. And nothing can make up for BAD gameplay for me.

But story, graphics etc. can get me to play through a game that's has good/ok gameplay, that I'd skip if the story, graphics etc. were also not great.

Though in actuality, with limited time/interest I really try to only play games that I love on all fronts--great gameplay, great graphics, good story (if it's a story driven genre) etc. Only playing a handful of games a year, I may as well stick with the cream of the crop in genre's I enjoy.

I couldn't do that honestly.
I like playing broken games, little games, games with not much other than heart or charm going for them.

Playing the cream of the crop only is akin to buying a 'greatest hits' CD to me.

Ooo, MAss Effect 2 shipped already. I guess I didn't need to worry about not have release day shipping after all. I guess I won't be playing any Tatsunoko vs. Capcom or No More Heroes 2 for a while.

Exactly. For example, Drakengard. That game is horrible from a gameplay perspective. That being said, I love the game. The story and music are fantastic. The game is a chore to get through at times, but I still felt it was worth it because other factors made up for that.

No...just no...nononono. I'd rather listen to Lady gagoogoaga then ever play that again.

I can see that. It's just a difference between a hardcore gamer like yourself and a more casual/mainstream gamer like myself. Someone like you that plays tons of games a year will seek out more stuff, and have more tolerance for games that aren't AAA quality on all fronts than somone like me that plays 5-10 games a year tops.

It's like that with any hobby. Some people on go see a couple big hit blockbusters a year, others go to the theater a ton. Some people seek out music not played on the radio and TV, others just listen to that stuff in the background.

The more you're into a hobby, the more you can enjoy a wider array of content (both genre and quality wise).
