General Gaming Thread 8: The ACTUAL Mass Effect 2 Edition...

I've heard that also. If I ever get around to playing Persona 3, I'll buy a PSP and skip FES completely. I'll probably never get to it though.

Strangely enough, I own 3 PSP games and no PSP. Parodius Portable, Twinbee Portable and Echochrome.

Bioware is alright. I played 40 hours of Dragon Age and never want to see it again. I liked that Mass Effect was shorter, but the framerate was lulz in busier fights. I hope it's much better in ME2. KOTOR Xbox was amazing at the time. These days it's still alright.
I could never get into Bioware either. Mainly because I despise AI controlled teammates. Secondarily because I almost never play hack n'slash, action rpg or shooter/rpg.

Us _MKs gotta stick together.
Bioware doesn't make games for SD consoles, do they, unless you count the original Xbox... Unless you played something other than Nintendo consoles last gen... well, I'm finding it hard to believe you've ever played a game developed by bioware. ;)

Bioware is great! I can't wait for The Old Republic. Plenty of time to decide whether I should start as a Sith Warrior or a Sith Inquisitor at least.

Frame rate seems fine. Hope you like the Uncharted in your ME2. ;)

The developed that Sonic RPG for the DS, he may have played that.

I thought nobody played that because it was supposed to be... oooooh... right. ;)

I actually do have a somewhat capable gaming machine (core 2 duo @ 2.66, 8600GT). I've played exactly one Bioware game. Neverwinter Nights. It was alright.

I crank down the resolution to the lowest possible and turn off every effect I can to get better framerates. 640x480 all the way, unless the lowest is 800x600. Neither of which are technically HD if you use the 1280×720 as where HD begins.

Random thought: I remember running Doom 3 on a GeForce 2. That engine was crazy flexible. Then again, rendering black is easy :p

Eh, I'm just giving you shit. :)
Baldur's Gate was awesome. Minsc represent!
He can't play a lot of LP2. The game isn't out.

The WOT is WOT does LP2 and Xbox Live Network have anything to do with it.
Did everyone already forget how LP1 played and then also played the multiple demos of LP2? where has everyone been?

and yes, the demo had enough gameplay and insight to give a good idea of how it would work. trust me even if im wrong ;)
I'll probably get MH3.
If I can't get a steady group I'll sell the game and keep the controller.
Count me in. Longtime hardcore Monster Hunter player ^_^

hey, the original xbox had some 720p games (and maybe 1080i, I forget.) It's like...one small step above the Wii.

EA needs money where they can get it. If they can get a lot of money on a Wii spin-off of Mass Effect, I'm sure it'll happen.

gah! banned from gaf again. I was hoping they wouldn't check my ip addresses. some mod was bored enough.
but he was wrong in thinking my other account was permabanned. the mw2 thread shall make a triumphant return. yeah, i'm bored

Not really reading what anyone is saying, but my first 30 minute impressions of ME2:
Holy shit the opening was insane!!!!! I LOVE THIS GAME. Then right before I picked up the pistol I went to my interview (I got in my dream school btw!!) and rushed home and started from the point where you picked up the pistol... and...

WTF IS THIS SHIT!? Is this Gears of War? WTF?! BAHHH! THEY BETTER HAVE NO fuckED UP MY FAVORITE GAME...

I've only played for 30 minutes.... ugh... I'm annoyed
I'll play more though. =/

You meant to say 'control wise'.
In which case I'd point to my PS2 as proof. ;)

Ha, what was your name.

You've never played it?
It's the tied for best RPG ever created. Play it.

Where is my copy... I might even buy it from you as I think it's lost.
At a discount of course.

No the right bumper is active reloading. Did they remove the entire inventory system to?

I'm going to call the damn wahhmulance soon. It just makes you feel sad when they rape your favorite game of all time. I'll get over it eventually. And crying on public forums is what I do best...

The cutscenes and conversations are top notch though, so that is slowly making up for it...

It was one of my favorite things in the first one. Getting new gear and finding better weapons and mods... none of that now. So little Sally can play...

I stuck to my guns and finished Assassin's Creed 2 before starting ME2 tonight. That's almost one game a week i've been finishing this year.. Silent Hill:SM, Xmen Wolverine, Bayonetta, and now Assassin's Creed 2.

Mass Effect 2 does such a good job of removing the bullshit from the first game, so far.

Leave that stuff for Dragon Age. Mass Effect is the big blockbuster franchise.

Going to be such a long day at work tomorrow. It looks so, so good.

Picked up a TvC stick on a whim. Not sure if I'll keep it yet.
Hey jer, TMK and DMK, have you guys found some legs for when you combine into your Voltron of Terrible Taste? :p
lol my terrible taste.
Bayonetta is awesome.

That is all.
Truth. I just beat it the other night. Great action game.

Nope keeping it for more achievements and the DLC
At least want to get 1000 on it.

Stop it.
Stop it.
No, it is called making it better. Not removing it. They even removed exploring worlds... I was hoping they'd perfect the Mako - not remove it.

And what is with the surveying of worlds? Is there a reason for that? Every single planet is the same thing...

After trimmng the fat, my final discounted order with Amazon.
It's pretty much just for console PS3/360 titles.

Can't think of anything else, if only they had L.A. Noire or Deathsmiles up for pre-order. I have until WKC ships at the end of the month to make changes. Hmm..
Also they need to add MGS: Rising for PS3, and Castlevania as well. Don't know if that one will be good though.

PS3
3D Dot Game Heroes
Dead Rising 2
Final Fantasy Versus XIII
Final Fantasy XIII
God of War 3
Heavy Rain
Mafia II
The Last Guardian
White Knight Chronicles
Yakuza 3

360
Alan Wake
Deadly Premonition
Tropico 3

Yeah, I'm pretty much in the same boat as you, DNB. I missed all my amazing gun upgrades and the customization I did for my shotgun. I miss my Polonium rounds, too.

I hate that there's an ammo system and I hate the Citadel now.

On the other hand, though... Is anyone else totally not having a problem with money? I remember I actually ran out of money a time or two in ME1, but I've pretty much been rolling in the dough from the get-go in this one.

Also, Grunt is a badassmuthfucka, that is all.

Well I went back and ordered the TvC/Stick bundle for $115 with the $10 credit instead.. gonna return the TvC stick I bought today at amazon.

I don't mind the changes. The menus and upgrades were just kind of fluff. They weren't really necessary to get through the game.
Ha, what was your name.
uh uh no way i'm not telling *rimshot*

coming so close to getting ME2. but then I boot up NMH2 and forget everything. NMH2 is seriously fucking good people. I can't believe they packed so much awesome into a game (if you're into retro gaming, otaku parody, and ridiculously awesome boss fights.)

I'll get NMH2 when I get tired of TvC.

Had a great MAG match earlier. Our squad pushed Raven all the way back to their spawn and they couldn't get anything going. Instead of attacking as a group they showed up one or two at a time.

I am actually still having problems with NMH 1. Can anyone give me advise on beating Shinobu Assassin #8? I saw NMH 2 and I have ME2 but I have so many games to play (still playing Dragon Age and beat Batman Arkham Asylum which is a good game by the way). I probably should have bought Darksiders but I guess I will wait until summer for it to be at a reasonable price. I like good game releases but all these games are coming out in the same period.

Still working on finishing Assassin's Creed II. Game seem's MUCH longer than the original. I totally upgraded the villa, so now I'm just rolling in the dough.
AND they took out like 80% of the skills!? What have they done to my game? *tear*

Yay...Gears Effect. I hope there isnt much combat...
I told you that you were in for a rude awakening. Sorry bear. :(

Gears of Uncharted Effect 2 has more than enough combat to go around. It's pretty much all you do.

combat > walk around somewhere, use convo wheel > combat > walk around, use convo wheel > combat > fly around space, shoot yourself in the face because you need more platinum and every planet keeps giving you irridium or palladium > walk around, use convo wheel > combat...

Grunt is indeed awesome.
You'll have a problem with money eventually if you try to buy all the upgrades... at least, I did... I was about 9000 credits short of buying the last gun upgrade I wanted -- I didn't realize all the sudden the missions would dry up and the 50k a pop for things that were decent was going to bite me in the ass. :(
Who thought giving Miranda buckteeth in ME2 was a good idea...
I had that thought. Probably to make sure that someone genetically engineered to be "perfect" could still have flaws. ;)

The game is light years better than ME1. You're insane.
