You live in the boonies or something manthing?
Nope. Just in a market that 7-11 left years ago.
If you're nice to me, I'll get you a code.
I'm sure chika would want a slurpee too.
Who wouldn't want a Slurpee? Everytime I'm in Chicago or another 7 Eleven market, I try to make sure I get a Slurpee.
Of course you would. You've made it clear that you enjoy all the horrible JRPGs.
Not really, since I do enjoy FFX and others a lot (which most like). ;) I even plan to get Last Rebellion. Sometime I'll make a list of all the JRPGs I plan to buy this year.

I'm in the mood for MS Saga sometime. That game is so me, an RPG, with turn-based combat, traditional world map, mechs, based on a new Gundam story (Gundam is my favorite anime), and an appealing my character to me with a name I like.

New AC2 DLC is about a half hour long, but worth it. The flying machine bit is completely optional, and I don't think is able to be completed, since you can now land the flying machine wherever you want/crash.

You absolutely must wait until Caterina Sforza finishes her speech outside the city gates. You are in control of Ezio at that point, but trust me, sit through all 5 minutes of it. Foul language taken to a high art.

So I bought ME2 at Gamestop using my two 25 dollar gift cards and a twenty dollar bill to cover the rest. I handed this all over to the cashier dude and he made the calculations while I talked to a friend. Then I took my change back and absentmindely put it in the bag with my game and went home.

Now I'm sitting here with the bag, with one more gift card and a lot less real money than I should have.

Mr. Gamestop, I've defended you a lot. I don't have the same issues many do with you. But why, why why would I give you two giftcards and cash and not want you to use all of the giftcard money?

Rabble rabble rabble

btw I live in PA and I have never seen a 7-11 in my life

I'm glad ME2 recaps what you did in ME1 when you import because I couldn't remember. I went with my
Male, Vanguard, Ashley killed, Wrex alive, Paragon, Council lost
save.

Ok, just a few more planets to scan and I can get on with finishing my first ME2 play through. I definitely don't see any game topping this until ME3 comes out.
Mass Effect 2.
It's fucking awesome.

/thread
I'm still on the first disc, and I have to agree. It was expected but not this nicely.

I just got on the citadel a min ago just exploring stuff and I found an intergalactic version of Gamestop  even the worker there said I could trade in games to get double credits.

yikes..woke up at 7:30 yesterday and now 6:30 today. like "feeling good" awake too. is this a common side effect of exercise?

but whatever, all it means is more ME2 time, can't complain.

I decided to finish ME2 last night(I got tired of scanning planets). While my character survived I did loose one of my favorite characters
Grunt

Yeah that was easily the best part of the DLC. It was short, but for how cheap it was, it didn't matter to me. Writing in this memory is fantastic.

Wait.
Ashley could die? I did not know that.

I kind of wish I killed her now too. She was a complete bitch when I met up with her in ME2.

I'm debating on starting a new game+ or creating a new male Shepard. I kinda of want to be evil but that makes you character look retarded...

I'm still not sure how anybody lost people. It seemed so easy to me to have everyone survive, first try with no external input for me... :|

I also wish I'd killed Ashley, because I ended up choosing Liara for the romance... Ashley is just annoying as fuck in ME2 -- I find myself wondering if Kaiden replacing her parts is more tolerable... or if he just says the same shit.

She's a total racist bitch...seemed implied she had conservative leanings too.

My shepherd looks pretty cool with the scars. Though there are an awful lot of them and I barely have a quarter of the renegade meter up. Just more fun playing evil in any game anyway. I'm good in real life, I'm not trying to express myself through the game  Zaeed's loyalty mission:
though it was a little disturbing (and funny) having to hear the screams of the burning refinery workers while on my way to kill Vido.

Just got the convict...time to get back to studying. :(

Strange -- I don't know what the deal with scars is -- everyone seems to think it's renegade meter, like Fable 2 or some shit. But the game tells you straight out "you have these scars, and they'll heal eventually (mostly likely)..." And on my first run through, they did. I think I had one little line on my face with a 95% full paragon bar and 80% full renegade bar.

As far as Ashley went, I dunno, I was being a bit xenophobic, I guess -- neither of the chicks were hot, but at least Ashley was human. I think I was going for a threesome, whether it could happen or not.... I dunno, but I knew I didn't give two shits about Kaiden, so in the end, I took the soldier over the biotic. When forced to choose, I went with the blue chick so I could be like James Tiberius Kirk.

Started a newgame+ and re-created my Shepard. She looks the same but I fixed her makeup and gave her long hair. But I'm kind of annoyed that they didn't give me the option to change my class again... I guess I'll have to wait for my next game to do it.
She's a total racist bitch...seemed implied she had conservative leanings too.
Well it was either the racist or the crybaby... I took the racist since she was at least interesting to take to(even if I completely disagreed with her views).

Wow. Mass Effect 2 continues to be so good. I love being a renegade. I kind of want to start from ME1 with a paragon character though too.

I might replay ME with a male character after I finish ME2 again. ME is pretty short if you choose to ignore most of the sidequests(I'll just find a list of which quests matter in ME2). And I'll probably use him in ME2... then I can get that romance achievement.

I'm stuck in a hotel in Wichita Falls until my town gets power next week, so nothing but WoW on my mom's laptop for me! I could do some emulating fun, but that sounds no fun with a keyboard.
He said two credits, not double Rolento :)
My bad... then it must actually be gamestop >_<

oh and as for Kaiden... I really hated him. Seemed like he shoulda been on hispanic TV rather than ME.

Also for curiosity discussion sake since everyone here always talks about favorites, which is the better game and why?

Uncharted 2 or Mass Effect 2

I know it may be an apples to oranges discussion but I'm just curious what can be said.

i haven't finished Mass Effect 2 but that one.

Uncharted 2 was just above Gears 2 for me. Which is to say I was above average impressed with both of them, but not blown away.

Mass Effect 2 is like, a landmark game.

I think the best word I can think of that sums up ME2 is this:

smart.

All the design choices, flow, gameplay, story, etc. are all based around some very smart decisions and smart execution by the dev team.

Agreed.
I enjoy scanning planets.
If that isn't a testament to how good a game is, I don't know what is.

Also, for White Knight Chronicles, I hear lots of talk about co-op. Does anybody know if the game is just as fun in a single player experience? I'm very interested in the game, but I don't want to bite on something that's only meant for multiplayer...

Well as for Kaiden's differences...

He sounds really gay when he talks to you after you save him at the colony in the second game. He's like, "Oh commander... why'd you leave me? I have been longingly staring at your picture for so long." Okay, I may be paraphrasing it, but he is pretty homo sounding (Not that it's a bad thing...). He also acted like a total pansy when I mentioned working for Cerberus and he basically ran off to cry into his sundress.

I was reading about how to not loose any people doing that last mission and alot of people seem to think that there is some chance involved with who surives the final mission. People seem to think that completing upgrades and loyalty missions help increase everyone chances of survival. Another thing I've been reading is that for some reason Mordin is the crew member that seems to die the most. No matter what you do with him.
Agreed.
What the fuck is wrong with you? You like sitting there holding the trigger and the analog trying to find mineral deposits so you can get your necessary upgrades? I'd almost swap the stupid scanning mechanic for having to drive the mako.

It kind of bugs me that nobody seems to care about the flaws in ME2. :|

all I know is I had a couple scars on one side of the face at the beginning and now I have a bunch all over. I try not to do any paragon choices (but this game is actually decent at disguising what's what.)

as for the hyperbolic praise, I'll balance it out by saying scanning is a crime against humanity. Easily the most boring, repetitive task in a game since dodging lightning bolts in FFX (though thankfully not as frustrating.) also, I've gotten stuck on geometry twice. and got killed by a guy who clipped through a box and killed me from there.

Otherwise, yeah, basically perfect

Should people even care about flaws in games as a whole? Every game has flaws, to some people its louder than others.

As for scanning, I will admit I enjoy it as well. I thought I'd get bored of it but I'm not; its fun.

Plus, I was actually extatic when I found out I could buy a space hamster :bouncy:

Ahahahahaha.

Ashley gets stuck up and has too much pride in the alliance and basically gets a holier than thou, you are a traitor attitude going. fucking bitch. I wanted to shoot her and give her to the retarded Collectors. :)

Nothing is more aggravating to me than "I need this upgrade. fuck, I need like 25000 more of the element... let's try to find that on a planet." 63 planets later and 3 hours of boredom later, and I finally have it. Ugh. They replace one tedious chore (planet exploration with a mako) with another (stupid ass mineral harvesting.)

And don't even get me started on the save system. UGH.

yes! any critique of this game would be dishonest if it didn't talk about how you have to stop the game for long periods of time to do a mindless, repetitive task with no challenge. It's a basic violation of input/output-- the input (scanning) is boring as hell, the output (minerals) is necessary to improve your characters, so you're forced to do it.

With a game focused on dialogue primarily, I'd think anyone would come in expecting this.

Yeah, I honestly preferred the Mako to the scanning.

And I think it's retarded that you have to buy probes and fuel, which makes flying around and scanning stuff even more tedious. Plus I tend to run out of credits fast buying upgrades etc.--even with importing a level 50 rich character at the start. Wasted some money on heavy ammo and a couple other things I shouldn't have bought so early probably.

Still, minor nitpicks, but may keep me from trying to upgrade everything in this game.

Focused on dialogue? Hardly. Dialogue plays a part, but only when not in combat... they've turned the core of the game into little more than Uncharted or Gears with some RPG elements. Cover system, ammo, locked 3rd person over should camera... the focus is on combat and telling a story (albeit a very lame story, IMO). Scanning planets in the first game was neat. Oh hey, there's an anomaly. Hey, I can probe this and get a rare element. Oh, check it out, I'm exploring.

The game is about 50/50. 50% combat/50% check out a place/talk/explore. There's no reason that either of those should force the slow/boring/ridiculous element collection through planet scanning.

Forcing someone to sit there bored out of their mind slowly spinning a planet to look for the exact type of mineral they need? fuckING RIDICULOUS.

On insanity, you pretty much NEED to upgrade almost everything you use in your de facto squad to the max... :( The 50k element boost to start new game + is nice, but if you buy the ship upgrades (fuck you, med bay), you're hurting for elements again really soon. :(

You basically trade credits for fuel/probes so you can scan planets and waste your life... why isn't there some place I can trade credits or say, all of my useless irridium and element zero stock piles for some platinum and palladium? :bomb:

Well, at least now I know the game isn't for everyone.

Nothing's ridiculous in the game because I enjoyed every part you didn't like, which itself is valid for both sides of the argument.

I'd recommend you sell the game before the price drops. It's not a game for your tastes at all.

Yeah, I only play on the normal difficulty, so I don't have to worry about it as much. As much as I liked the first game, I only ever did one play through doing everything and then the first DLC.

Huh? Seems like he liked most of the game and had a few big gripes with a few parts of it.

That's the way most games are for me. Very few to I love everything in. Nothing wrong with talking about the pros and cons of a game.

Would be pretty boring if people only discussed what they liked about games.

I don't hate the scanning as much as he does, but it is pretty boring. The slow load times bother me more though.

Thats what I thought to but people who have done same have gotten different results. There is probably some other factor we don't know about right now that determines what happens. And I've heard bringing Mordin with you at to the final fight is the best way to keep him alive. If you don't he just seems to keep dying most of the time

I agree the resource hunting is the game biggest weakness. Nothing is less fun then trying to track down a specific resource(fuck you element zero) just to upgrade things you should have had in the first place(more probes, faster scanning and fuel) or ship upgrades that you WILL need towards the end of the game. And lets not forgotl wasting all those credits on fuel AND probes so you find those resources you need. I can understand needing to buy probes... but fuel? That is just a stupid.

Well, I have enjoyed everything so far.

I will say on the citadel Shephard is a dick if you're paragon to all the shops on there; he's an asshole for saying "I'm Commander Sheephard and this is my favorite shop" in every store >_

If you don't already know, the Med Bay is only used for aesthetically fixing Shepard's face. It's completely and utterly useless beyond that. Waste of Platinum unless you've bought everything else and have extra laying around.
'm debating on starting a new game+ or creating a new male Shepard. I kinda of want to be evil but that makes you character look retarded...

Strange -- I don't know what the deal with scars is -- everyone seems to think it's renegade meter, like Fable 2 or some shit.
It kind of bugs me that nobody seems to care about the flaws in ME2. :|
Because the flaws aren't that big of a deal. It's like if I won a million dollars, was on the way to get my prize and I got in a car accident. Sure it sucks but who gives a fuck? I just got a million dollars. Yeah, scanning sucks but everything else is so good I don't give a shit. It'll most likely be fixed in ME3, and right now it's a minor annoyance to me at worst. You're really just blowing it out of proportion.

Scanning isn't that bad as long as you keep on top of it. I merely scanned every planet in the new systems I had to go to to do quests, and I had more than enough. Same with credits. I never once ran out of credits in the game because I did the sidequests. The only one I had to look for a couple times was element zero, and that was rare.

I would agree with that. Like I said, it's a nitpick in a fantastic game. Same with the load times and having to buy proves and fuel.

I never once ran out of credits in the game because I did the sidequests. The only one I had to look for a couple times was element zero, and that was rare.

Really? I got the level 50 rich character bonus and was out of credits after one shopping trip on Omega. Did a few missions, did more shopping and ran out again.

Hopefully I'll get built up as I do intend to do every sidequest and always look for all the safes, save before hacking something so if I fail I can reload and do it again (despite the slow loads).
