Seems like a stupid move by Sony. With multiplatform games usually selling more on the 360, seems like some developers/publishers may just say screw it and make the DLC exclusive to the 360 where it will sell more and they don't have a fee.

Seems like Sony just completely lost their business sense this generation (other than winning the HD movie format war of course).

I can appreciate that Sony probably loses a lot of money paying for bandwidth for someone else's free/paid shit, but god that is a stupid move. Of course, they could show ads during downloads to offset the cost, but then every last idiot would be complaining "IF I HAVE TO WATCH ADS I SHOULD GET EVERYTHING FOR FREE."

So GTA: Asian Americantown Wars is pretty fun. I intended on trying the first mission or 2, and ended up playing all morning.
I'd rather they charge the publishers and not me.
I don't think you'll still have that sentiment if publishers decide to start either a) trimming down on PSN downloadable content as a result of these extra costs, or b) charging more for their DLC.

But yeah, MS recoups their costs with the paid subs, so it's kind of a wash IMO. You can either pay a little more or get a little less however you look at it.

A rather cheap move on Sony's part, putting the burden of charging users on the third parties/publishers, I think.

But since this has been in effect since October and no publishers have decided to do either of them, then what's the problem?

Here's another insider tip: Publishers don't like that Microsoft reaps all the money they get from XBL subscriptions when they use our games as marketing tools to lure players in.

...which is why they should release all those PSOne games on PSN.

The games aren't that large plus every paid download would recoup some costs.
I really hope they don't omit gamesharing down the road though, THAT would suck
I'd rather they charge the publishers and not me.
Who do you think the publishers are going to charge?

Or, maybe they just won't put out DLC.

Neither of that is good for you.
Zew: Get a PSN card if plan on gamesharing
I'm thinking I can still gameshare with the gift card.

I'm going to pick up PJM fasho.
But they are putting out DLC. And have for five months already. Stop spinning this into something it isn't ffs.
Oh really? How do you know there isn't DLC that's not going to see the light of day because of this? Or DLC that was to be free?

I think the writing is on the wall that Sony will charge for online play next generation. I can understand why publishers are upset with the fee, but Microsoft does the same somehow.

PJM Encore is like...more of the same for PixelJunk Monsters. I hope with PJEE they don't make it harder because PJE was pretty hard.
I think you already have all of the fun stuff on PSN, though.(

What's PJM Encore?
An expansion pack for PJM.

so can sony fans finally stop crying about how psn is better because its free?
Please have to pay for it next generation.
Publishers are gonna nickel and dime themselves to death and no one is gonna want that shit anymore.

I just wish the NXE wouldnt hang on the damn buddy list.

My NXE works flawlessly.)

Well, I take that back. It hangs on me during the opening video of SFIV, but thats it. I don't really use it all that much so it never bothers me.

whenever I open up my friend list it seems to take about 30 seconds to get everyones stupid pictures.

Which version of the xblox do you have tiredfornow?
And how much free space on the hdd do you have?

I have that red RE5 360, and I had a two month old Jasper arcade before that.

Red 360 has 87/120gb free and the arcade usually had 2-3gb free after all of the game installs. Every time I was messaging or something while loading up SFIV it would freeze and I'd have to reset my console, but other than that I haven't had any problems with it. It does take a while for the avatars to load on the dashboard, but it doesn't get stuck on the screen. :3

Hrm it does take awhile to get the pictures up but it never freezes. Sometimes it takes so long the music cuts out in the game that is loaded up.

I will try and delete some shit off my HDD.

I enjoy PSN way more than Xbox Live. While more of my rl friends on Xbox Live, the fact that it costs money is still bullshit. Free is always better. Especially compared to $70+ a year ($7 a month add's up. )

I have Live until the end of 2010 and it only cost me 6 bucks. (Had the codes since early 2008)

Guess the suckers paying retail are the ones getting fucked.)

Now that I think of it, if I didn't buy the red system my 360 with 3 years of Live and a shitload of points still would've been 100 bucks cheaper than a PS3.

I'm so sorry you're too lazy in that if you want to play a game you can't put it in the tray. I bet you'll love free universal healthcare.

Also not all of us can afford the one time payments for XBL. Some of us have to pay it monthly in which case it's ridiculous when we can run onto PSN and play online for free.

Now if someone has a free monthly code for XBL they don't want...i'll gladly take it off your hands ;)

I dont understand what cross game invites have anything to do with being lazy.
You need a new hobby if you can afford a $400 system but not $30 a year.
I'm not paying $400 a year. Also some of us aren't still living with parents and have bills and children to support. $50+ a year adds up alot for something that you don't even physically own. And $50 a year * what are we, on year 5? Is over $400. So that's $400 in groceries that would be well spent elsewhere.

"

Why do you need a cross-game invite when you can just throw in the same game as your friend? I never really understood this thing, even with XBL.
I dont understand what cross game invites have anything to do with being lazy.
Exactly. Still have to get up in the put the game in unless you have it installed to the hard drive.

Just nice to know you have a friend online that wants to play something (and to be able to get into the game lobby right away) when you're playing something else.
Accept it and you're in the lobby as soon as the disc loads.

Not worth the XBL fee by itself, but it's a nice feature. At the end of the day all that really matters in the XBL/PSN debate is: Which one do you have more friends on? The other differences are pretty minor IMO.

$0.16/GB means no more paid DLC?

 That's absurd.

We may see fewer demos on the PS3, but really, this charge is much ado about nothing.

It won't have any impact whatsoever on the user-end.

The party system on XBL is worth the 30 dollar fee. Chat with all your hombres in a game, and not have to listen to all the other assholes on XBL.

True. Forgot about that since it was new with the NXE and I've barely done any online gaming since then.
Atleast you can mute on PSN. That alone is worth the price, oh wait, it's free.
You can mute on XBL too. And even set it so you never hear anyone not on your friends list.

Again, the only really meaningful difference for anyone that does online gaming is which one you have more friends on. Everything else is pretty minor IMO.

Ahhhhh I swear to god I hate those stupid fucking screws they use for the plates for the sanwa sticks. The fucking screws on it stripped the second I tried to unscrew them and I barely even used any force. So. fucking. lame. :bomb::bomb::bomb::bomb::bomb::bomb::bomb::bomb::bomb::bomb::bomb::bomb::bomb::bomb:

Yeah, the party system on XBL is an awesome feature, and probably the best feature on Live, although it's still really buggy (like NXE) because sometimes it just boots the entire party.

I have found that one bad apple can ruin the entire party. That bad apple happens to be me most of the time since my home POS router is having trouble resolving DNS.

You're posting on CAG and you're gonna use the 'LIVE costs $50' argument?

Party Chat is definitely the best feature about Live. So damn convenient.
I use it sometimes while playing KZ2 with friends.

In a reverse, I used the PSN Chat Room to talk to my friend while playing RE5 on 360 since the sound was so much better, we kept cutting out with the regular 360 mics.

Yeah, this 6 month old fee on bandwith won't affect paid DLC in any way.
As if a 500MB download at $9.99 won't be worth the $0.08 fee on it.

You wouldn't put them to use, I'll be keeping all my free 1 month cards. :nottalking:
I should be getting a $20 Visa gift card today.

I plan on buying some PSN games with it. Would it be easy for me to use it and remove the card from my account later, or should I just use the card to go buy a PSN card at Gamestop?
Very easy to just remove the info. Just go into Account Mgmt. - > Billing Info.

I heard those official PS3 headsets stink.

You need to pick up a wireless 360 mic. Quality is SOOOOOO much better.

I wasn't referring to paid DLC, more so free DLC since it's going to cost publishers to give us DLC.
Where are those Kuro pics, Flood?
At home on my camera. :booty:
Its still breaking in, so ive only got some pics of it all setup.

Red and Green Slides arent the most fun things to take pics of.

Ill take some pics with Blus going tonight, and some games.

Any Requests?
