I guess I'm not seeing the "magic" in Uncharted 2 multiplayer like everyone else is. Still just looks like a cluster fuck of people shooting and dieing (just like every other friggen shooter). Every shooter tries something different, and to change the pace of the game - but it all ends up with: RUN IN > SHOOT > DIE > RUN IN!!! Maybe one game will have it so you use a knife once in a while instead but it is all the same. . .

MGO, Resistance, Killzone 2, Gears of War, Halo, CoD, Socom, Battlefield ect. ect.

I know some of you will be like, "Well once, in Resistance 2 I was like playing with my friends and clan and we played really strategic." That's not what I am saying.
I don't see it as "magic". Just as added value, if it's done correctly.
I played around a bit with DMK's SFIV TE arcade stick.
I think my favorite thing about it was the storage for the usb cord. :p

Also, he owns me at both Smash, and now, SFIV. :(
Shouldn't he refuse to play SFIV? He must have paradox absorbing crumple zones... cause SFIV isn't on the Wii... it's HD gaming... :whistle2:k

My delicious chocolate cake is only a delicious chocolate cake! As long as it's fun, who cares?
My delicious chocolate cake is only a delicious chocolate cake! As long as it's fun, who cares?
Yea I agree. I'm just tired of seeing these games putting a "different spin" on multiplayer but they usually result into the same thing you've seen a hundred times.

I love Killzone 2's mp, but once you are in a never ending spawn camp explosion, you wonder where the "strategy" elements went.

ah, so he's just trollin' with the "wii only" shtick. Well done DMK.

The only recent multiplayer shooter I've played regularly is Call of Duty 4. It's so fun I don't care that it's unfair (spawn>die-in-explosion>spawn>grenaded etc.) sometimes. Games that are great transcend lack of balance. I remember the original Counterstrike had tons of cheaters, but I still enjoyed it.

Lately, the spawning shit has pissed me off in CoD4. I love *spawn* -> knife in throat -> *spawn* -> grenade -> *spawn* -> headshot... WTF.

I might be out of my gourd, but I think Gears 2/KZ2 seem to have better spawning -- maybe due to the "team base" kind of mentality.

This Thursday, April 30, PlayStation Network users will enjoy a free, exclusive MVC2 demo! Here are the details of the demo:

* Two-player local matches
* Six available characters – Ryu, Chun-Li, Strider, Spider-Man, Iron Man and Wolverine
* Seven selectable environments
* Upscaled 1080p graphics
* Widescreen or 4:3 aspect ratio
* Two graphic filter options for character sprites
* And other cool options to check out

I have never tried Gears of War, mostly because I hate the way it looks. Also because I don't think 3rd person works as well as 1st for online shooters. One day maybe I'll give it a go. As for Killzone, I thought the first game was good but I don't have a PS3.

If you don't like Gears of War you won't like Killzone. It's basically Gears of War only its "heavier" (control wise) and has Helghast instead of Locust.
Playing a game at someone's house doesnt exactly do a lot to support the platform.
so "playing around with DMK's TE stick" was code for something else then. gotcha.

I've never been happier to see a demo for a game that doesn't need a demo.
Oh yeah about that .. is it completely digital download only or is it a mix of dl/umd?
it's download only, but you can buy the voucher which has a case, and manual.

man... fuck worrying about it being digital. it's a full game that's very good for an already steal of a price.

if ur a freak about resell value, then that's a different story.

I probably don't care because I know I'll keep it permanently like I do witht he first.

I don't care what format it comes in, $30-40 PSP titles can fuck right off. Patapon and its sequel are the right price. Not that I'll buy it, but I can't remember the last PSP game I bought - meaning it was at least 9-12 months ago.

I suppose FFVII International counts, though. Thanks for nothing, SCEA!

What? You been drinking again?

(A) He said he didn't play gears because he didn't like the visual style.
(B) How is KZ2 = GoW2? You don't even use the stupid cover mechanic in the multiplayer. There's no shotgun rolling, there's no lancer, it's first person; not third, etc.

I would've waited myke for FFVII... sadly, just wait.

C'mon Frosty - you're telling me there weren't times in the campaign where you were wondering if you were playing Gears? The third person view, the clunky/heavy feeling, the cover, the controls, the exact same shitty story, a squad of four that is always split in half, etc What more does it take to identify two games as similar?

And rolento - I assume you were saying "you" to people as a whole, but I wasn't "worrying" about Patapon 2 being dl or umd. I'm probably not even gonna buy it since I haven't opened the first one yet. I'm just trying to stay on top of things.

Sold the R4DS for $30. Final Fantasy X and Kingdom Hearts for $12.58. Stranglehold, Tomb Raider Legend, Prey, Splinter Cell DA, The Darkness, and Tony Hawk's Project 8 for $36. And last week I sold my Hori EX2 for $84.

$162.58 for those counting. Pretty good for some spring cleanup.

Still have more to sell too, easier to throw stuff on eBay even with all the fees just in terms of convenience.

the only time I felt like it was like gears was the locations (ie. train mainly, but that was it really).

The two games feel entirely different. I know for sure Gears is more twitchy, and KZ is more weighty. I'll take weight over twitch, but both are very good different games.

You can read Japanese? I thought the International subtitle was a misnomer.
You sold a Hori EX2 for $84? Was it modded? If not, then god damn I feel sorry for whoever bought it.
Nope, not modded. Sold it on eBay.

R4DS is the only non-eBay sale.

Wait? We haven't had a single PSOne title in the US this year. fuck SCEA; SCEJ works hard for my money, so they get it. 250+ PSOne games in Japan, 50+ in the EU, and 24 in the US.

They.

Can.

Kiss.

My.

Honky.

Ass.
You can read Japanese? I thought the International subtitle was a misnomer.
Misnomer? Nah. Square added content when it came from Japan to the US (the ultima weapon super boss types come to mind) - so Square gleefully cashed in w/ a Japanese rerelease featuring the US content and a fourth disc which is a FFVII encyclopedia. They did that w/ other FF games afterward, and they got progressively cooler stuff. FFXII International got a whole new job system (the zodiac?) which was different from the grid-based upgrades in the original and US versions of the game - as well as new jobs, I think. They even got an upgraded Kingdom Hearts in this way (Final Mix+, I think it was called).

I'm not completely literate for this title, as I haven't kept up with my studies. But after awhile, some characters stand out. I'm following the game well enough (only ever played it through once before, to be honest). About 5+ hours in, fighting to the top of the Shinra building - just encountered Red XIII last I checked.

About the only fucking thing my PSP is good for right now.

I don't blame you for thinking that way, which is totally valid... I'm just saying.. i'll shut up.
I'm confused Myke, I thought the "International Edition" was in Japanese only (hence my calling it a misnomer).
Why does "International" = "English"?

The game was released in many other countries and many other languages. Why couldn't it be in Portuguese?

ReRo, you're a hella nice dude, so I'm not thrilled to have to say this.

Your kindness is inversely proportionate to your ability to predict a fucking thing.

EDIT: And let's shit in a pot and call it dinner and say you're right for a change. Two dozen titles and FFVII. You know what I say to that? Not good enough. SCEJ has set the bar. You might be able to pare it down to 200+ titles instead of 250+ if you take out dating sims/ancient japanese strategy games/ancient japanese dating sims. But one FFVII =/= FFVII, Xenogears, RE1-3, Brave Fencer Musashi, Front Mission 1-3 (or was it 0-3?), and probably 40 or so *amazing* PSOne titles. Sony better send out vouchers for a free ass-kissin' session if they want to gain back any goodwill they flushed down the drain the way they've been sitting on a goldmine of $6 titles and not done a fuckin' thing with 'em.

I was implying that International = multiple languages, English being the relevant language. If it's not in English, can you read Japanese or are you just a masochist?
This is the new regime!

Right here man, bayonetta looks bitchin'
Oh wow, I didn't think you'd actually do it.
