I finished off all of the Predator Challenges this morning. What a cakewalk those were. On the opposite end, the Combat Challenges are anything but. I must've spent an hour trying to get a Perfect Knight bonus, and the most Batarangs I got on the first room was 2. It's still my GOTY right now, though. But the Combat Challenges are kind of the only bad thing about this game right now.

I also ordered HOTD: Overkill and DQV from Amazon today.
Practice makes perfect, I guess... the more you play the challenges, the more natural the combat becomes. It's a really nice system because of its simplicity.

I still haven't done the predator challenges... I've thought about it, but I want the one for clearing one using only silent takedowns and haven't been able to manage. I got 5/6 once, and somehow the last thug saw me. :\

I just finished DQV last night, great game - much better than the already enjoyable IV. Wish I hadn't waited so long to get into the DQ series. Though I think I did play DW1 way back in the day on a rental.

Started in on Valkyrie Profile DS afterward.

The problem I have with the Combat Challenges is that sometimes enemies just move with moving their legs. They fucking Jedi with baseball bats!

The Predator Challenges are a piece of cake. Remember, that using your Detective vision doesn't count against it.
Beat splicers up with your wrench or get headshots on 'em to save ammo for the big daddys.
Thanks. The thing about this game is that all of the upgrades offered so far seem worth it but I'm not sure what to go with..
I finally got around to playing Bioshock. It's great so far. It's creepy as all hell though. Any tips?
If you want the research/photography cheese make sure you photograph mechanical things like turrets and security cameras. I didn't realize they mattered until the last level.

Well, 360 number 3 just got the RRoD. All I wanted to do was play some Raiden Fighters Aces. . .

It had a good run at least, lasting through NGII, Gears 2, SSF2T HD Remix, SFIV, and RE5.

Warranty?

And RRoD or E74?

Is there any way to easily tell how many blast shards I'm missing in inFamous?

Bah, I got a copy of Fear 2 a few weeks ago from Goozex and I didn't notice there was some sticky shit on the top of the disc. My PS3 went nuts when I tried to eject the game and scratched the disc up... atleast it did come out.

Dead Space remains insane.

I tried to barricade myself in an office and hold off the monsters as they poured through the doorway.
Those fuckers came through the airvents instead.

I can't play it for more than like 40 minutes at a time or I get too jumpy in real life.

I'm reminded of Silent Hill 2. For those who don't remember the very early days of the PS2, there weren't many releases of any sort of quality. For my money, all the good games were coming to the Dreamcast. Anyhow, Silent Hill 2 was one of the good, early PS2 games and I wound up getting it at launch as probably my second or third PS2 game behind Twisted Metal Black and (don't laugh) Gauntlet Dark Legacy.

At the time I was living in my parents house in San Diego and was only working a part time job. I had way too much free time on my hands. That free time translated into playing through Silent Hill 2 across maybe three sittings. It went quickly but it freaked me out, especially
the prison. oh my god the prison.
. Back then, games could be returned to EB/Gamestop for any reason. About four days after purchasing Silent Hill 2, I took it back to GS for a refund. They asked what the problem was. I said simply, "There are things in that game that I never want to see again."

Now, time will tell if Dead Space can keep it up and I'll be the first to admit that many of the scares are of a totally different variety that Silent Hill 2's but at the end of the day, I may well decide that I don't want to experience Dead Space again.

SH2 was demented in all sorts of bad ways.
I never even made it to the prison... I never got further than the encounter with Pyramid Head in the staircase. And seeing Pyramid Head rape the mannequins? fucking scarred for life... I should sue Konami for pain and suffering.

RRoD, no E74, and Warranty until early 2011. So I'm covered, I just have to send the bitch in.

Oh well, that's why I have other shit to play.

Odd. In all the failures my machines have thrown, they've always been E74. Is yours an older box?

Yeah, it's a Core, manufacture date of. . .holy shit, 9-10-2006. No joke. O_O

I am currently working through 1000 pointing Dead Space. I am enamored with that game, it went a long way to redeem so much EA crap. I am seriously considering seeing what the Wii title has to offer. It looked good when it briefly cameo'ed on TrueBlood).

Wow, I forgot it was even called the Core.

Finally got around to starting Prince of Persia tonight. I'm digging it so far. The combat isn't great, but glad to see the focus mainly on the platforming/acrobatics like Sands of Time. A bit easy to get lost and wander in circles though.

Tracking down the last of these blast shards is going to be a pain in my ballsack. :( I've got something like 39 left and no clue where to start looking. I've been running along the coastline of the islands (still need to do the Neon), then riding the train around, spamming the L3 radar button. I'm up to 311 or so, I think.
Ninja Gaiden 2 Sigma 2 Trophy list is out. It looks REALLY friendly to Trophy whores.
Shouldn't it be pretty similar to NG2 in general, with a few extra trophies for the online/coop stuff potentially?

Edit: Wow, I just looked it up. fuck they messed with a lot of them... not sure how I feel about that. :\

Well, you don't have to beat the game 11 times now. They just replaced those with 'kill 1000 enemies with Weapon X'. But they are pretty similar besides those.

Really? That scene with Pyramid Head and the mannequin made me laugh, quite a bit in fact. It looked so hilarious to me.

I really am waiting for the day when a game will actually scare me.

The Combat Challenge Rooms in Batman just plain suck. They're too demanding of the player, and to beat all else, they're buggy. You won't get points 50% of the time for ending a round on a counter attack. They're just not reasonable. Sometimes they'll send you going in the direction you didn't want to go. Attacks won't hit when you're in your animation for a second or two then they'll hit you just as their counter icon shows up.

I shouldn't have to be Perfect to get a rank of 3 in a round, which is what they want. If I get hit once, I lose a potential 1,500 per round and 5,000 points overall (Freeflow Combo, Dark Knight, Perfect Knight). So...I lose 11,000 points because the game bugs out for half a second.

I want Mario and Luigi on sunday for the gift cardo, but I'm low on money and payday is tuesday. Can't spare $30. :(

got a ps3 slim today (yay, can finally game it up in college!). Now i just need some games. Anyone looking to get rid of their Disgaea 3, Dead Space, Infamous, Siren, or Silent Hill Homecoming for cheap? :D

I didn't think SH2 was all that scary either. It was disturbing, but not scary.
