How far are you? Have you met mr. pants yet?
Not very far at all, I'm about half way through the second chapter I think. The only enemies I've met are the blade hand things you meet first off and the freak babies.

What difficulty? I'm trying to remember getting mobbed by that many "things" early on...
Protips:
Just remember:
(a) RB will spin your plasma cutter's axis. very useful.
(b) dismemberment is key, go for the legs first -- then you can cut off another limb or their head as they crawl toward you or curb stomp the motherfuckers. :)
(c) stasis is badass. if you're near a stasis recharge station, clear out the area, return and recharge, finish clearing, then fill up for the road.
(d) keep your pimphand strong and run. if those fuckers roll up on you, smack a bitch, run away, turn and take out their legs.
(e) look out for mr pants. that guy is a cock.

I've never used the cutter alt fire mode, thanks for the tip. I always go for the limbs first, I don't think it was particularly hard I just kept fucking it up. I've got it set on whatever the default difficulty is. When I finally did it I don't think I'd lost any energy.

Half the problem was I was too worried about using med-kits as I don't want to be short later on.

haha.

Surprised more GGTers aren't playing Fallout 3
you know, cause this part of the post isn't just here to justify the first part.

I'm playing Fallout 3!

Just sidetracked by CoD4.. After playing the CoD5 beta and CoD4 multi a lot last night..

CoD4 is better.

That was a classic episode of South Park.

I'm still rocking Fallout 3, I really want to find the dog so I can start setting him on people.

I downloaded the COD5 Beta last night, haven't played it yet though.

Indeed. More fuel for the "Treyarch is full of diseases" and "Infinity Ward makes a superior CoD game" arguments.

It's not bad.. CoD3 was BAD.

I actually think Treyarch's single player might be better/more open/less focused on clone rooms. The whole "intense, linear roller coaster" thing doesn't work for me. It just exposes the seams even more when it's so linear and driven. And when the only way to pass an area is to find the spawn room for the Enemies and go there so they stop spawning. LAME.

But IW does Multi Better. For some reason CoD4 is just more fun. The vehicles don't really work either.

With a 6-8 hour single player campaign, CoD4 was mostly about multiplayer, at least if you planned on playing the game for awhile and getting your $$$ out of it. Not sure how long the previous CoD games were, but standard fare for FPS is generally 6-10 hours.

I think COD2 was the same-ish length as COD4, but I played COD2 on Veteran and COD4 on Hardened.

Plus COD4 > COD2 storywise so I kept pushing more with 4.

---------------------------------------------

And fuck you Sons of Samedi...SR2 keeps freezing up my 360 whenever I complete the blow up the labs/kill technicians level...

I might not ever be able to beat SR2. I killed off the Ronin and Brotherhood too, and found
Ultor's underground compound by accident. I wanna know what goes on in there too...

Which was harder COD2 on Veteran or COD4 on hardened (Is that highest difficulty on COD4) ?

I finished COD2 on Veteran and want to know how COD4 on the highest difficulty compares to that.

From what I've gathered, CoD2 on veteran isn't as bad as some spots of CoD4 on veteran.

Veteran is the hardest on CoD4.

When does it freeze? I had it freeze twice on me after one of the missions, though I can't remember which one -- same spot in the fucking cutscene too... I think I ended up trying to skip the cutscene or something after that...

CoD4 was much, much more frustrating, even on Hardened than CoD2 ever was on Veteran. I had a lot of fun slogging through CoD2 on Veteran, but CoD4's single player had so many frustrating parts where it was so obvious you just had to get lucky and make it past this invisible "Breaking Point" and survive until then or they just kept cloning more and more enemies to attack. It feels like it's pointless to even shoot back because the enemies just get replenished unless you get close enough for the game to turn off the "spawn rooms".

CoD4 was much more reliant on that, and I really hated it. Especially in the chernobyl area, defending underneath the ferris wheel. That's where I had to go way around the other side of the park and hide in this big square room that all the enemies were spawning from, to stop them from spawning.

At the 'Mission Complete' screen after the 2 ugly Jamaican fuckers say they're gonna pay you a visit while they watch the slums burn.

It's the 2nd or 3rd time it's frozen there...

Totally disagree with this. There were 2 parts of COD2 that made me walk away for a few weeks each time: Escaping the trainyard in Russia and the 'A-F' villiage in France.

The Ferris Wheel was easier than either of those scenes.

To this day I have no idea how I got out of the Trainyard.

The A-F level was hard until you realised that running into the houses and hoping for the best is the only thing you can really do. Unfortunatly it took me a while to realise that. Like Jer I enjoyed playing through COD2 on Veteran cos I always thought I would eventually make it to the next checkpoint.

I was wondering if I'd enjoy COD4 in the same way.

Keep at it! The Ultor base missions are neat, and definitely worth trying to get passed the Samedi missions.

Have you played the mission where
The Samedi abduct you and you're retardly fucked up the entire mission?
That's a goodin' in itself.

Yeah, that killed the CoD4 single player for me. I beat it on normal, tried on hardened and never got further than One Shot, One Kill as I could never make it to the helicopter. I seldom replay games, so I just gave up and relegated it to multiplayer only.

CoD2 I haven't bothered (and don't plan on) playing on hardened or veteran so I can't compare. But it did seem to have much less reliance on infiniitely respawning enemies until you reach the invisible barrier crap. I hate that, it's just lazy game design. You should be able to hang back, pick everyone off and move forward like you can in most good FPS games.

There's a mission like that in the new Bond game

Also, the new Bond game is the definition of average...

I think it was but it didn't glitch nearly as spectacularly as Oblivion did.

I haven't had Fallout 3 do anything crazy with me yet. I think I've seen at most one dancing corpse and even that was just a little twitch compared to TFN's CoD3 movie.

That vid was funny, I never saw that happen in COD3, I did blast through it quick on easy for the cheesemints though.

Morrowind 1.0 PC was super fucking buggy as all fuck. Bugs like "this quest is broken" or "it keeps crashing to desktop" or "the game forgot my quest path" or "this NPC is missing and I need to talk to them", for example. It was patched up to like 1.7 with the Bloodmoon expansion, and they fixed a lot of shit. That's like 6 patches later. So it had a ton of bugs that they mostly fixed. Still had some left though.

Oblivion was a lot less buggy, but it still had plenty. Most of the common bugs are graphical glitches, mainly due to the physics or people getting stuck in the walls. It still had some big ones like the dude who gives you money over and over, and some potential broken quest paths. It's only had 2 patches so far, and it was much less buggy than Morrowind from day one.

I don't know that it was a bug, but I remember I was maxing out my summoning ability or something. So I was prone to fits of randomly summoning zombies or ice monsters and stabbing them or magic-ing them to death, whatever skill I was working on maxing...

One time, as I was traveling around trying to buy every spell I could find, my ADD took over and I started to do this in the big church in Bruma (?). Well, the chick selling the spells saw me and the ice behemoth thing fighting. She came over to help. The guard saw her fighting in the church, pulled a robocop dice roll to check his directives, and proceeded to murder the lady. Luckily, I had bought all of the spells she was selling... :\

Fallout 3 is definitely their most technically well-crafted game (and their best game, but that's a different argument....) Practically no loading times on the PC version, very few freakouts. It froze up on me once and as i mentioned, I got stuck in some rubble, but otherwise, it's fine. The game will be perfect in a patch or two.

Man, I'm so slow. My co-worker picked up Fable II like a week after me and he's already way farther in the game. Of course, it doesn't help that all I did last night was run around Albion having sex with my 3 wives and redecorating our houses. >_<

Well, partial lie, I did buy more property and do a few more side quests/jobs.

Actually got in a lot of gaming last night. Started off with a long Fallout 3 session--very addicting game, like Oblivion was, but I like this better--because well, there's pew-pew in it. It is hard to be a good character when you have the freedom to shoot and kill pretty much whoever you want. :p Then I finished up with Fable II.

I hope for more of the same tonight! Unless Resistance 2 gets here.

Hmm... Maybe not worth a dead 360 over. But it's still a really cool ending

Not interested in the new Bond game... The new Bond just doesn't do it for me. Didn't care for Casino Royal either :whee:

I'd do things like that too. Sometimes the AI will make you go "WTF?" for sure.

In Morrowind, I'd run all around and get every living thing chasing me, including about 10 of those fucking stupid ass bird things that always had diseases, and I'd lead them into town and watch the guards go apeshit over the invasion.

Oblivion was full of funny shit too. I had Shadowmare, or whatever his name was, tine invincible horse, and I'd pick fights with guards and climb up on rocks where they couldn't get to me, and watch my horse and the guard duel to the death.

Also picking fights and letting the guards kill the NPC who "started it" is pure gold too.

Downloaded the ME demo last night. Went in with no expectations and was blown away. Definitely buying this day one next week. I played the 360 demo is there any difference between the two (360 and PS3)? Usually 360 versions end up better but wasn't sure if this was the same case when it came to the demos.

Just hit the sky dungeon on Zelda: TP. Pretty good game so far and this is it before the final dungeon I believe. Metroid Prime 3 is on its way from gamefly so not sure if I'll get a chance to play it much before Gears 2 arrives Friday.

They look about the same to me, but I've noticed some tearing on the PS3 version. I don't remember if the 360 version had that.

I'm no pixel counter, for the record.

haha Call of Duty 3 did have some really funny glitches.. Once I was on a mounted gun shooting over this valley and all of a sudden some allied soldier is running in the sky in slow motion and starts moving down to the ground diagonally all while in a running animation, and then dies when he hits the ground.

I was like WTF? hahaha

Gah, I can't decide between laptop, upgrading this computer, or an HDTV.

Gears 2 friday. I'm more excited than you can ever possibly imagine.
HDTV on BF, you big doofus.

And you can even buy some more crap for your PC.
That's kind of what I'm thinking. If I can find an HD for 400, I can buy an 8800GT with HDMI Out and be happy. Still will need a new processor and mobo eventually, but it can wait.

Bad thing about that is the only places in my town that sell HD sets are Walmart and radioshack.....

Anyone know where I can get a good cheap copy of vista?

Cool, I'll look into it.

I wish I knew exactly what is causing vista to freeze all the time. Strangely, it only happens when I'm on FF. Maybe I'll switch to chrome.
