Dude, did you play it?
And you wonder why I give you shit.
Yeah, I played a few levels at my Brother's on X-mas on his PS3.

I think it's a fine game, like I said if I had a PS3 I'd play through it for sure. Just saying that someone like Jer that wants a game with a variety of powerups and gameplay styles like Yoshi's Island will be hugely dissappointed.

It's not that type of game, it's a simple 2D platformer with the main appeal being making/playing user created levels. As such, the main game is pretty rudimentary compared to other 2D platformers, but it was still pretty fun from what I played. But probably not if you want to fly, turn into different machines etc. as in games like SMW and Yoshi's Island.

Anyone who still owns a Playstation 3 and buys little big planet is at least lying to themselves a little.

You could have gone with something better..

but it's playstation.

And to point out your oversimplification - SMB also involved hitting blocks, discovering what was in those blocks, kicking turtle shells, chaining jumps on enemies, pipes that took you to secret areas, etc. etc.

SMB>LBP

It's like comparing SMB with Pac-Land.

I seem to have the worst luck. My first video card was broke now I get my second to find out my headphone's drivers are blown so I have to send those out for a repair now.

Perhaps in the sequel, they'll finally make it exactly like Super Mario World, and Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island.
Ah yes, because LBP has no secret areas, or hidden goodies, or hidden treats that aren't normally seen. Or multiplayer only areas that involve up to four player teamwork.

Oh whoops, beta only.

Liked Gears 2 enough to pick up Gears 1 cheap. Playing through the campaign now. Is it just me or is a lot harder?

I mean Hardcore on Gears 1 seems to be more difficult than Insane on Gears 2.

Yep.

If only they had the talent to pull it off.
They don't need to change a thing. People like Jer just have to move on and realize that's not what it's meant to be.

I feel him, as I prefer games like SMW etc. where you can fly and get all kinds of cool abilities. For instance, I've never gotten into the Sonic games as just running fast gets boring quickly.

But some people spend far too much time bitching about games they don't like rather than just playing and discussing games they do like. Not every game is going to suit you, and thats' fine. Move on and play/discuss ones that do.

There's something for everyone into days gaming world, and it's a great time to be a gamer.
Not even Nintendo does anymore.

Actually, whichever team made Canvas Curse, might be able to. Still my fave DS game.
Indeed. I'm dying for great platformer, and that team may have the chops to do it. Canvas Curse was great, but I'd love to see a good 2D platformer with traditional controls and some cool powerups that are as fun as the ones in SMB3, SMW and Yoshi's Island.
I personally find LBP very fun with 2-3 other people, but kinda boring by myself.
Same. I was tired of it going at it alone when I was just try to Ace every level and get 100%.
Aside from the first time through, doesn't grab me enough to do it again alone.

Other than that I only played co-op, either locally, or online.
Mostly locally.

That sucks.
Same with my lady friend and the Wii.
Only game she'll touch is Animal Crossing, other than that, she just says "Wii sucks" even when I want her to try something cool like Trauma Center.

I'm not even joking. It's weird.
Okay, disregard my comments. It'll make my disappointment and the terrible sales (and thus, many other people's disappointment) go away.

Just ignore it. It'll go away.
my word. you must've gotten mixed up somewhere, because "terrible sales" doesn't necessarily reflect anything to do with disappointment. i'd say the wii is a fucking disappointment of epic proportions. but it sells like it's made of gold.

i don't know what you'd call an anti-fanboy, but you, sir, are most definitely one. take that shit somewhere else, it's not helping or contributing anything productive here.

I'll applaud that as well. CAG (and game boards in general) are tough to read most of the time as so many threads are just full of bitching.

Fanboys defending "their" company to the end, taking every minor negative opinion as a huge personal insult they have to defend with name calling or huge walls of text.

And haters that have to bash a company or game every chance they get rather than just moving on and playing and discussing something the actually enjoy.

It would be great if we could just play games and discuss them and the industry without all these people who take it way too seriously and personally one way or the other.

Oh dallow, I forgot .. I saw some posts of yours while browsing in the Killzone 2 thread on NeoGaf. That is one awesome looking game (at least based on the gifs that were posted). I can't wait to try it.

Graphics alone, it's mindblowing.
The 1up preview and some other though give me hope of a good single player experience though.

I don't remember posting in that thread though, unless all I was saying is "give me a beta key please" or "wow, that gif is awesome!". :)
You were commenting on the gif of the grenade thats thrown and blows up a nearby pillar.
Ah yes, one of my faves.

Most interesting about it is that it's not scripted, every piece is subjected to the physics going on around it. Wind, other explosions, other players. And that was just from the MP beta.
heres to hoping its not a broken neck crapfest like resistance 2. :]
Is it that bad? I still haven't played it and am not very interested in picking it up unless it's cheap.
Just doesn't look appealing to me. I'd rather play World at War.

I started an NE hunter in WoW. So now I have a 60 NE druid, a 60 draenei shaman, and a 59 draenei death knight. Thank goodnes for RAF and my co-worker who happily helped me grind up. :p

And Resistance 2 is not bad at all. Haven't really done multiplayer other than beta though, so maybe that is what TFN is talking about?

That's some gangsta shit right there. Dallow took off the gloves! :whee:

Anybody wanna play some Burnout Paradise sometime? The online is fucking stellar, and seems like it'd be great with friends. I should have picked up this game earlier like I intended. Everything about it is very well done (except for the insane soundtrack).

It's what happens when people say the LBP is limited in what you can make.

I don't think anyone said it was limited in what you can make. Just that the main game was limited for those not in to making levels or playing user created ones, and that there was a lack of power ups. :D

Any chance they'll add power ups down the road? That would expand even more what we're seeing in terms of awesome levels from users.
I don't think anyone said it was limited in what you can make.
He very clearly said the creation tools were limited.
Little Big Planet (Awful, floaty controls and limited creation aspects)

They did add a 'powerup', I supposed you can call it that.
The MGS pack added a paintball gun which opens up new possibilities since it's an equipable item, and it seems you can give 'life/hitpoints' to enemies.

This is going by the trailer, I haven't downloaded the pack yet.

And yes, I realize I just took his bait, but I'm bored at work.
Why am I work when no one else is?

I'm stuck at work bored as hell. Have some stuff I should be doing, but frustrated as what is most pressing is held up waiting on comments/email replies from colleagues....hence my unusual amount of posting today.

Also, a bit annoyed that The Shivering Isles disc hasn't dropped in price yet. Annoying that it's still $30 or so everywhere when the Oblivion Game of the Year edition that has all it's content plus the original game dropped to $30 a couple weeks ago. Even the Ebay/half prices haven't dropped.

May just bite the bullet and pay the download price if I don't see a deal when I finish the main game. Think all I have left in terms of main quests/achievements is the Mage's Guild.

Thought about doing a free trial on gamefly as someone suggested, but that just feels wrong.

Don't suppose any GGTers have the 360 disc around that they want to sell cheap? Or to lend out with me pay paling $5 to cover shipping and paying to ship it back myself?

Free Gamefly trial.

That's what it's there for, to give you a preview of their service. You may be pleasantly surprised. Either way, you save $30.

I just feel guilty as it's more or less stealing the game (so would borrowing it though) and I have no desire for the service as I can't keep up with the games I want to play that I buy/get off of Goozex so I don't need a rental service.

I may still try though. Can you cancel the free trial online, or is it one of those hassles (like Amazon Prime) where you have to call to cancel?
Do local stores not rent out the expansion disc?

I've seen it for rent a a few places.
Well, that was back then though.
I could check I suppose. I have no idea as I don't even have a membership to BB or Hollywood anymore. More or less started boycotting them years ago as the prices were absurd and the service terrible, and just no need with Netflix being much cheaper and more convenient.

But I do have a BB and Hollywood both within a mile so wouldn't hurt to check. Though I'd rather pay $5 to a CAG than $5 or whatever to them. :D

Really? That's pretty dumb of them.

Very simple to cancel online.

My Account -> Cancel subscription

Easy stuff.

Dallow, when I said you took off the gloves, I was referring to the comment you made about how you'd rather play WaW than R2.

I opened that post you made with the 4 LBP levels though, I plan to check them out the next time I fire it up. Thanks.

No, I know. I just didn't make much sense with my followup comment.
And yeah, that's a good link for nice levels to try when you're playing, I should post it in the LBP thread.

I'm being honest about R2 though. :)
Have you played it?

Bought some ipod apps today.

Tiki Towers(99c)-Seems really fun so far. It's kind of tough to build really solid structures, but it's got a great art style and is addiciting as hell. It's a lot like Elefunk on the psn.

Bounce Trap(99c)-It's kind of like peggle/pachinko. Hard to explain how it works, so just download the lite version. It's addicting and hella fun.

Crazy Tanks (99c)-It's just like the tank game on wii fit, or the old atari combat game. It's got a great art style and wonderful controls, but it's pretty repetitive.

Any sub 5 dollar games I should check out?

Fieldrunners.

All the ngmoco games.

Warfare Incorporated. (Almost, but not quite, Starcraft on iPod)

Only the beta. I thought the MP was reasonably done, but had complaints with the sizing -- it seemed that dumping 30 or so people in the level led to these awesome group firefights, but I'd get "clusterfucked" all the time... (that's my term for when people would queue up on my lead, follow me into narrow pathways, making it so i couldn't step backwards to use cover when being fired at, essentially turning me into a meatshield). That and if you respawned far from the epic battles, you had a ways to run before you got to them.

Not sure how the final build plays, or how the single player is.
Having played WaW a bit, (though I didn't make it far, as I started on "raining 'nades" and I don't like all the bolt action/single shot historic guns), that seems like a hell of an insult to me.

I have fieldrunners

I have all the mgmoco games besides Rolando (which I can't justify spending 10 bucks on)

WI looks really good, I might check it.

I'm thinking about getting touchgrind.

And I REALLY want Sim City, but I have a 5 dollar mental price barrier.
