Playstation 3 dead BR drives are becoming too common. Sort of scaring me.
Me too.

I might just say fuck the BC version and get a new 40GB, but I'm scared the 1 year warranty won't be enough either.

:whistle2:x

But I like the BC too much, so I dunno.
I was getting scared until I read his was a used/refurb.
I've heard of plenty of bought new drives dying recently.

The thing that scares us BC PS3 owners is that if we send our systems to Sony will we get the same systems back, BC and all? Let us not forget that we have to deal with Trophies and SOME Game Saves here, too, since they're also tied to your system.

Ouch... lets hope my 60gb PS3 holds up. Anyway, anyone think Warhawk is a good buy? It seems from video I've seen that it's like BF, but without the FAIL that is Dice and EA?

I'm real glad I got my PS3 with a 3-year warranty from Best Buy. Not that I've ever had any problems with it or anything, but just to be safe. But I personally would never buy a used/refurb console from this gen because of failure rates. Even Wii's have had problems, cause a friend of mine has had to send his in for repairs three times already.

At any rate, I've been playing a crap-ton of Persona 4, trying to get it beat. I'm at the end of November now, just a few days away from the big decision that determines what ending I get.
ouch! Shows how much GS "refurbishes" things. I doubt their crack team of slave laborers is trained to calibrate/clean blu-ray lasers.
Word up, when I went looking for a back up 360, I took my first "Gamestop 100% guaranteed refurbished" system home and it wouldn't even open the disc drive. Turned it off, then on, and that 3/4 circle was there. #-o

Took me about 5 systems (trying them in store) before I found one I was happy with. That system broke on me two days before the warranty expired and I got a new one. :whistle2:|

Wii Sports is now the best selling game of all time, beating out another bundled game in Super Mario Bros.

http://www.ripten.com/2009/01/04/wii-sports-now-the-best-selling-game-of-all-time-1/

1. Wii Sports, Wii - 40.52
2. Super Mario Bros, NES - 40.24
3. Pokemon Red / Green / Blue, GameBoy - 31.38
4. Tetris, GameBoy - 30.26
5. Duck Hunt, NES - 28.31
6. Pokemon Gold / Silver, GameBoy - 23.11
7. Nintendogs, DS - 21.37
8. Super Mario World, SNES - 20.61
9. Wii Play, Wii - 19.68
10. Super Mario Land, GameBoy - 18.14

As much as I dislike Nintendo these days, got to admit that it's impressive that the whole top ten is Nintendo published games

Do you have a 60GB PS3? I'm wondering how they would cover that under warranty since they don't sell those anymore.

They replace it with a refurb 60GB.

They have a stockpile they use from the ones that get sent back in that they repair.

Ah, I see.

I just saw Wall-E with my kids, so all I can picture is some guy in a blue shirt picking through a bin of parts from other dead PS3s in the BB warehouse and slapping it in.
I loved Killer 7 and kind of liked No More Heroes. But the bosses in the game just got to annoying for me to deal with... I gave up during the boss fight at the beach. Maybe I'll pick NMH up again and try playing on easy...
really? all the bosses (save the last real one) are really easy as hell, and I played it on bitter.

The bosses weren't hard. They just got more and more annoying as the game went on and I got tired of it.

Yeah, I can understand getting annoyed at their constant... invulnerability to your attacks.

Never really had much trouble with instant kills, though. I mean, yeah, Bad Girl got me the first time, but I don't think anyone else dropped me in one shot.

Well I just ordered the stick from BN too, and still have the one on amazon preordered.

I don't expect to get it for 40 bucks, so I'll just cancel it when they change it.

I swear next time, I buy another system"next-gen" I'm buying a warranty. I've had issues or something happen almost all of my systems since the ps1.

I called sony yesterday, and told the guy about the dead drive, he asked for my info and told me they were going to send out a box and to check for an e-mail with the intructions on what to do. He did not say anything about being charged anything.

I did tell him that I replaced the 40gb HDD with a 160gb HDD, he told me to be sure to send the 40gb HDD, because they will just send back a 40gb HDD. The problem is that after I replaced the 40gb HDD, it quit working.
I told the guy and he still wanted me to include it. I just hope it wont mess up anything, as far as my 160 gb working on the system when it comes back.

The NMH bosses were fun. Every time they do something annoying, there's a solution. like bad girl launching gimps at you, you can bat them back (or make sure she gets caught when you do a finishing move on one.) Or if all else fails, the dark step is always an option. The game has a surprising amount of depth.
The Street Fighter 4 FightStick Tournament Edition is $39.99 at Barnes and Noble right now:

That goes for $149.99 on Amazon. :)
Noice. Hopefully it goes through. Thanks for the heads up! :)
I just joined amazon prime and wouldn't mind inviting some family members on with me ;)
How much?
weird... anyone remember MadBalls from the 80s? well there's a new game coming to XBLA that has em:
I remember those. I had a ton of em. :)

Got the Shivering Isle Expansion and installed it. Going to get started on Knights of the Nine, but just for 30 mins to an hour as I have to get up early all this week. Won't be able to get into it much until after Saturday, then can play a bit through the next Friday and then I'll be out of own for work for a week. Figured I should start with Knights since I think it has no achievements and is shorter so it would be easier to blow off if I'm burnt out after playing Shivering Isles.

Also got The World Ends With You from Goozex today.

Seriously how the hell do you beat the emperor and empress on P3. I have tried so many times and it is so stupid to make it 15-20mins until the fight. They always get me with some gay multiwind + all team slash attack everytime. That or the stupid emperor Fatal strikes my main guy killing him instantly. So far I really can not see what people see in this game. I enjoy the story so far but the school part seems boring aside from doing s. links. Just seems like a major step back from P2 so far. /end rant

Mananged to stop playing Oblivion in less than an hour--that's a first! Tired as shit and have to get up early tomorrow trough Saturday for 5 day 8am-5pm stats workshop I'm taking.

Just got started on the Knights of the Nine quests, found enough of the Wayshrines that I had my vision and went and found the shrine for the next quest and saved in the first room.

That's a damn fun quest. I found that I needed to slide my difficulty bar down towards the middle/end of it though. But once you get the knights' armor, remember
that you need to be "good" or else the gods decide that you aren't worthy of the armor and you can't wear it any more. I think if you repent at a shrine, you'll be okay.
I'm not sure if that's truly spoiler worthy, but still good info to know ;)

I'm almost at the halfway point of DQIV. Which is great news because I'm really, really dying for Chrono Trigger. And I hope to put a few hours in to Fallout 3 tomorrow.
I swear next time, I buy another system"next-gen" I'm buying a warranty. I've had issues or something happen almost all of my systems since the ps1.
That sucks. The only systems I've ever had a problem with was my Gamecube (DRE) and...that's pretty much it. My 360 started having frequent freeze's before I sold it, but it still worked.
Good luck on DG! If you end up loving CT, then you'll need all the time in the world to see all the extra endings.
Hah well I hope I don't like it that much then ;)

Though I am bugged by the fact that there are a bunch of endings. How do I know which one is the best?!

And I think I had a revelation about my copy of Oblivion. I've got it on PS3, it's the normal case, and I believe normal disc, but I have access to the Knights of Nine quest. I bought it used at GS, could they have thrown in a GOTY disc by mistake? Or was KoN included on the disc for the PS3 release?
