Also just played the Lord of the Rings Conquest single player demo. Not terrible, but I'm not a big fan of the hectic, button mashing combo heavy action games, but had to check it out since I love LOTR. Doubt I'll pick up the game though.

Ar Tonelico 2 comes out tomorrow! I'm pretty excited.

Also decided that starting about a week ago I'm going to play one game from backlog until I finish it. The game right now is Dreamfall: The Longest Journey. I really like it so far, but the fighting is horrific. Don't know why they even included it in a point and click game.

Yeah, I have this huge collection of games from last-gen I haven't finished. Some still sealed. It's ridiculous, so I'm finally going to finish all these games even if it kills me!
Finally got around to playing the Dead Space demo....and promptly deleted the game from my Goozex requests (it was on Hold as I wasn't sure if I wanted it).

Not sure why I ever bothered since I hate hard games and don't care much for survival horror. :p
It wasn't *that* hard... they just picked a stupid section to use as a demo.
That was the first hard part I got to, and I think it was in chapter 3. Part of it is strategery, where you have to get a high vantage point, use statis and kinetics, and have good aim. But the demo is poorly representative of the whole game.

Yeah, I have this problem. Luckily, I got the main PS2 titles I need to play down to Odin Sphere (sealed) and Final Fantasy 12 (opened but never started). I think the GCN only needs me to play Paper Mario: TTYD, as I've sold all the rest. I have bully for PS2 and 360, but will only resort back to the PS2 version if the 360 game glitches on me enough. :\ I will give myself credit though -- last year, I played a bunch of PS2 games in the beginning of the year... got MGS3, DMC3, and GoW2 out of the way...

!
I liked this game. A bit more than it's prequel.

I played the prequel so long ago that I barely remember it. This one is making me want to go back and play it. Hopefully it'll work in Vista.

Probably not going to game much today. Having a release party for the Repo DVD/BR today!
The genetic opera? Why?
Because it's awesome. I've been to see it 5 times in theaters. My friends and I have been to all the road tour showings on the east coast. Just last Thursday we went to see it in MA, then drove down to NJ the next day to catch it again, then drove back up to RI the next day to see it a third time. I've met the director and actors multiple times. We love Repo!

Dead Space is quality, and I despise most survival horror games.

Downloading that free suit from release week helped in that regard. I never had to worry about inventory slots, my most despised cliche from that genre.

Once I was free of the inventory burden('should I drop this for this?'), it played like an action game.

I really feel like Dead Space is more Gears of War than Survival Horror, but it still has a good "creepy" atmosphere. and the sections in vacuum are breathtakingly exhilarating (sorry.)

Started Playing through Resistance: Fall of Man today, after it took me an hour to play through the demo because I died constantly. I'm fairly interested in the story, even though its typical sci-fi stuff. Maybe its because its set in the 1950's.

How is it on ammo levels? I hate games where you have to budget ammo and can get screwed if you get to a spot without enough ammo. So that worried me given how much shooting there was in just that one room in the demo.

But I probably didn't give it a fair shake as I was really playing the demo kind of hoping I wouldn't like it and could drop it from goozex as my gaming time has shrunk drastically again and I don't want to build a backlog.

It depends on what the setting is. I played it on easy and only ran low on ammo once for my plasma cutter. I know the ammo the ammo count is exremely low on hard and Nightmare(?) settings. Also the game is pretty good about giving you ammo for whatever weapons you carry with you at the time.

woo, got my white Dualshock 3 and 12+1 XBL card from amazon, and my PS3 should be here today or tomorrow! Got my copy of Valkyria ready and TDK Blu-ray should be here tomorrow.

I played through on normal. I only ran low a few times, but the catch is like Chibi says, it gives you ammo, mostly, for the weapons you carry. I only carried the plasma cutter. So it was pretty good about giving me ammo for it.

Worst case, you sell the ammo at the next store/station thing and buy a shit-ton of ammo for your favorite weapon. It's what I constantly did. Sell all the ripper and flamer and whatever ammo and buy cutter ammo with it.

Was there a good deal on TDK bluray recently? I still need to acquire a copy.
GGT. Do me a solid and trade your Fallout 3 for my LittleBigPlanet or Gears 2 or Resistance 2?
I'll trade you the PC version for LBP.

That pretty much what I did. For the most part I stuck with the Plasma Cutter and the Assault Rifle(or whatever they called it). Once you put a few nodes into those you really don't need anything else.

I went for the plasma cutter only cheese/trophy -- so my cutter was maxed as were my stasis and kinetic by game end. Maybe even the suit. At least the life portion.

More Fallout 3 last night! I really should finish up the
Wasteland Survival Guide now that I've got Rivet City on fast travel. Also, found Charon last night and would like to add him to my party. Say, if that bartender guy gets killed somehow, can I loot my caps back if I buy out Charon's contract? 2K caps is a lot for me right now. Also, can I have Dogmeat, Ashley, and Charon in my party or does one or both of those NPCs count as a "slot" in my party?

And just before I turned in I played a little more of Dark Cloud 2. Wow, that game has a really long intro...

I seem to recall you can only have Dogmeat and one other NPC in your party.

I'm enjoying Bioshock on Survivor difficulty. Really having to budget my ammunition/money shows an element of difficulty (though it is a bit of "I hit you with electro shock and then my wrench" like the easier versions). But the soopa fun is in the Big Daddy fights. Every one of 'em is like a boss battle. I have to pick my spot, make sure I have the proper ammunition and first aid kits, and look around to see if I can use the environment to my advantage (i.e., how many turrets can I draw them in front of while I lob grenades at them?). Finished Fort Frolic last night, and hoping to get to play some of Hephaestus this evening if I can get my lecture notes for class completed in time.

Oh yeah, and Suikoden's "your characters can permanently die" aspect sucks. HARD. But, hey, a hella good RPG for $6. Bring #II to PSN!
I want PS3, or might settle for 360.
Weren't there some problems w/PS3 version? IIRC the DLC this month is 360 only? Dunno if PS3 will get DLC.

Anyway, I'm pretty hooked on the game right now. :p

I think they were fixed? And as of now the DLC is PC/360 only. But I really wouldn't be shocked if it made it's way to the PS3 somehow.

NPCs? Pfft, game is easy enough rolling solo. Why would you get NPCs? :whistle2:s

Could be like GTA4 DLC. Where it's 360 exclusive indefinitely... that's not to say it won't show up on PSN/PS3, but it might be a good long time.

I picked up Fallout 3 on the 360, thinking I would like the DLC at some point. Now I'm not so sure; after all, what's the difference between 150 hours and 200 hours of gameplay? Jaysis.

Fixed.

Hell, they can bring over some shitty ones like Nightmare Creatures 2 for all I care, as long as they stay $6

150 hours? :whistle2:s

I 1000/1000 the game, doing all sidequests in less than 60... So unless you're the kind of guy that likes killing obstacles (since you cap out at level 20 pretty early) or you just like checking out the same subways and busted up buildings for the sheer "fun" of it, I have a hard time believing most normal gamers would get 150 hours out of it.
I never bought DLC before so probably never will. I like the PS3 controller better too. I heard the bugs were fixed.
I tend to avoid the stuff, but I like the sound of the Fallout 3 DLC. I mean who wouldn't want to stop the Chinese from invading Alaska? I will admit the 2nd batch of DLC seems like it could be pretty bland to me. But Broken Steel sounds like it could be pretty fun.

NPC make great Cannon fodder. But yeah after a certain point I find the NPC's to be more trouble than they are worth.

And I could see them releaseig the Fallout 3 DLC on the PS3 disc only as a Game of the Year version or something.

Whynot Nightmare Creatures? I somehow have fond memories of that game -- though it's all blurry in my head, since it was like... 14 years ago.

I'll pick up the additional DLC. I'm enjoying the game, so another x number of hours to extend the life is fine with me. Of course, there's so many variables/ways to play the game that you could argue it isn't necessary.

Managing the NPCs can be challenging. I usually keep 'em back while I do most of the work so I can pick up the XP and minimize the risk of them doing something stupid and getting killed. Certainly you could go it alone, but I like having the NPCs around as it lends a different dynamic to the game. The Wasteland lives up to it's name--a big, mostly empty world without very many friendly folk to interact with--so having some virtual company along keeps things interesting for me.

(A) I've said this before, but I don't understand the purpose of the DLC without a level cap increase. It's broken to me, unless you're playing an entirely new character that has to level up from scratch. The third DLC expansion is supposed to have the continuation of the main story and a level cap increase though (DON'T READ IF YOU'VE NOT FINISHED FALLOUT 3)
Since you die at the end, or at least I did, I'm not sure how the level cap helps... unless it forces you to take the "send the girl in" approach. :whistle2:s

(B) True... they did it with Oblivion, sort of. The Knights of the Nine and all the stuff up to that DLC was in it when they released the PS3 version... though I'm not sure they'd have the rights to do that if MS has the contract on the content.

I liked Nightmare Creatures 1.

For some reason I remember NC2 being terrible.

I did have an NPC I loved having around in Fallout 3. But I lost that one when
I was imprisoned
and I could never find her again. I lost dog as well but I found him hanging around Vault 101 for some strange reason...

Yeah, it seems odd that only the 3rd Expansion will raise the level cap. But as I said I'll still pick up at least the 1st expansion since it sounds interesting. And, I hope that is not how they make the 3rd Expansion works.... I'd hate to forced to do that.

That would be correct. I thought it might have been because I had that Mutant join my party when I busted out. But she isn't anywhere to be seen.... Maybe she is still at that Vault I was caught in?
