Nah... my problem with RE5 was that I tried the Public Gathering level and got fed up with the fact that there was way too many enemies in a confined space and my character felt like he was moving through molasses. (Add that to the laser sight being point blank on their forehead and the hit not registering as a headshot...)
I played the Shanty Town scenario last night just to give it a fair shot to see if my initial "discust" was warranted... Shanty Town is much better.
The only thing I can see here is that Capcom picked a bad portion of the game to include in the demo. Sort of like EA did w/ the Dead Space demo. That demo is NOTHING like the real game and doesn't do the game justice. Granted, it's from the game, but I remember it being the first difficult part and the first part at which I actually died. Throwing someone into that without 2 chapters of getting used to the controls and having a proper inventory and mastery of the abilities and game mechanics was stupid. Same with the Public Gathering "level" in my mind. Shanty Town was definitely much better.
I do agree with you that Shanty Town is a much better chunk of what the game is going to be like.
After playing through the demo several times, I do think that the first part of it, should have been altered.
The only real beef that I have with RE5 now is that sometimes when trying to melee attack someone, Chris picks up an item on the ground.
Hopefully something will be done about that before going gold.
