very surprised at the image quality of the Orange Box on the 360. Possibly more colorful than the PC version and the motion blur is nice too.

The reticule in the half life games is an insult to console gamers though. seriously, a big fat circle, valve? There better be some serious ammo around to make up for the crapshoot of trying to get a headshot.
I really need to go back to the Orange box.

I'm near the end of HL2...and I haven't started episode 1/2 or Portal.
Episode 1 > Rest of The Orange Box. Cemented Alyx as one of my favourite videogame characters.
LUL at Gears of War for PC being unplayable for anyone starting today. This is why I have a problem with DRM.
You mean it became playable again after Xbox Live was down for 2 months?

That game got so fucked on PC. whoever thought it was a good idea to tie saves to your Windows Live Gold connection is a major asshole.

Episode 1 and 2 are amazing, but you may as well take it slow, as Ep.2 ends on a major cliffhanger.

Portal, otoh, you should dive right into. Takes less than 3 hours your first time through.
 @ portal. the way people feel about braid I feel about portal if you catch my drift.

I'm slowly going through HL2... mainly so I can get to Ep 1 and 2.
Brave?

My thoughts on Portal: It's good, but it's not as good as people say. It was worth playing through once, but I can't say I ever plan on playing it again.

And that whole companion cube crap about not being able to burn it...I don't get it.

The... unfortunate... attempts of every other fucking person on the internet to turn every other fuck aspect of Portal into the next big meme kinda biased me against it. I mean... it's fun, and it definitely picks up after the whole "dumping you into the flaming pit" part, but it's not worth making eleventeen bajillion cake jokes.

I don't know what you mean because people feel all different kinds of ways about Braid. I'm starting to get the drift that you may not like it because lots of people have claimed its a breakthrough game though. :\

yeah, the 2 months after that game came out were pretty awful. My brain has been screwed with in many ways on account of reading the internet, but I wasn't able to summon a giggle at that game again until my playthrough yesterday. I was finally able to appreciate it almost as much as my first time through, since I haven't even thought about the game for months.

By people he means me, hence my previous post.

Braid's puzzles were really clever.
And the ending was just interesting.

The story?
Terrible writing, like a freshmen in college trying really hard to impress.

I loved both Portal and Braid.
I played Portal months and months after the hype had died, so I didn't have stupid cake jokes on my my mind.

Something tells me you don't like conceptual work. It's not for everyone.

While agree blow could've done better on the story, it's one of the best conceptual based stories I've ever come across in (console) gaming, though other indie games on PC have done better.

Be proud the game industry has someone like Blow. We need more like him.

I couldn't tell...I thought there was some unanimous decision on Braid that I missed while I was asleep.

I would play that game if it weren't for the rewind mechanic. Whatever happened to letting the character die, then come back on the screen while blinking and temporarily invincible? The 90s ruled.

and fat guys that turn colors as you beat on them more.

and portal is hardly pretentious. Obama needs to make an announcement detailing the definition of that word, along with specific examples. this would be step 1 in recovering the economy. fuck.

I tried that too.

Didn't help.

Did you play the the whole game? (ninja dog)
I thought it was just going to be that simple rewind trick for each world. I was pleasantly surprised.

It's a puzzle game, and not a platformer, but timing and jumping skills are essential... hmm. Well, I don't know.

Talking to me? I was saying that Braid was pretentious. I love Portal.

Just the demo. I do plan on playing the whole thing one day, despite my complaints.

Uhh, one of my favorite books:

No, it seemed like Rolento agreed with what you were saying.

What are you guys arguing about this time?

Portal and Braid.

FFVII > Portal and Braid

Ah you must, just ignore all the text.
Some of the best puzzles ever in a video game.

I won't believer your dedication to conceptual art until I see a pic of you dressed in bondage with broken blood capsules in your mouth while screaming the lyrics to Livin' on a Prayer while serving smores to children at a pre-school.

Now you're just talking crazy talk.

I'm just trying to tie the usual GGT arguments together!

fuck this shit, I have to watch the last half hour of Robocop!

I started it last night. Now it's complete-- now that I've seen Robocop and Blade Runner, I understand the plot of every cyberpunk anime ever.

I've played fallout 3 but only the chamber part till you go outside. personally, I'm waiting to play it on 360 but won't pick it up until the pack that has the open ended ending is released. I'm guessing there will be a GotY edition like Oblivion eventually.

PC version of Fallout 3 is the best. Mods + best looking = win. But there's no shame in playing it on 360. PS3 version supposedly has problems though. I wouldn't know, I've only played the PC version.

PS3 version had a problem where the game stopped for a few seconds everytime someone on your friends list logged in/out.

I hear that was fixed with a patch though. I haven't played it since the patch came out so I wouldn't know. Apparently trophies were added too if you care about that sort of thing.
