I want to play FEAR 2, but it'll have to wait since I'm buying tons of SFIV shit. FEAR is bad ass, and while FEAR 2 probably won't be as good, it'll still be pretty sweet. That's the impression I get from the demo anyway. Of course, PC version for me, the way it's meant to be played.

Only thing going for it is graphics is not what was said, it was that it's a good shooter that gets by on having uber-graphics, which seems to be in line with things Chac, Rei, and Ninja Dog say too. RebelFM had some of the same things to say. It's good, but not great.

One thing that always bothered me about the game, and they might just not have shown this, but just like Call of Duty, the enemies kinda lack variety. It seems like you're always just shooting these same dudes. Like Half Life has the headcrabs, the zombies, the combine, and the striders, etc. and they all have a different pace, different feel. Everything I see of KZ2 is shooting at a dude with glowing eyes in various uniforms. A lot like shooting at a german/japanese soldier in various uniforms. That didn't excite me either.

There's nothing insulting about comparing it with a Call of Duty game. Last I checked, people seem to enjoy those, and they sell pretty well. Everything that gets said about Sony exclusives that isn't "MAN IT'S THE BEST EVER" gets turned into "MAN, THIS IS SHIT, SO'S SONY!"

I'm more excited about FEAR2 just because I liked the original a lot and the setting and mood is more interesting to me.
I agree with all this. Including wanting FEAR 2.
So you'd rather shoot at the same soldier over and over in FEAR? :]
Fear has some variety with the soldiers, different ghost type things, mechs etc. Lack of variety in environments was killer in the first, hopefully the second one fixes that. And also the enemy AI was very good compared to other first person shooters.

Not saying Killzone doesn't have variety or good AI, as I know next to nothing about it. I don't own a PS3, and unlike Jer I'm wise enough to not waste time reading up on games I'll never play. :D

I loved FEAR but didn't like the FEAR 2 demo. Wasn't anywhere near as satisfying as FEAR was. FEAR was amazing, FEAR 2's demo was not. Which is a good thing in retrospect since I'm gonna blow so much money on SFIV.

I really liked the FEAR 2 demo. Was creepy as hell in the school, the guns felt great (loved the CoD style iron sights), loved the mech suit etc.

Also loved playing a good version on the 360. Played the first on the PC and that hampered my enjoyment since I hate keyboard/mouse controls and playing games on the PC in general after sitting at one at work all day.

I've not played it but KZ2 sounds pretty good, it's probably better than Halo 3.

Not that thats particularly hard mind you.

Yeah I enjoyed FEAR as well, and I was playing the supposedly crappy 360 version.

I'm not so sure thats a good idea. If you read up on other games, you might decide that you actually want to play them.

I'm following Bayonetta right now despite that I dont even like that kind of game, but the trailers are entertaining. I would totally watch someone play it.
So you'd rather shoot at the same soldier over and over in FEAR? :]
FEAR may have you shooting the same dudes over and over, but the AI is top notch, and they change situations and randomize encounters enough that it feels like you aren't just shooting the same dudes in the same places over and over.

Killzone 2, to me, seems like a Call of Duty game. You go to an area, shit's going down, nonstop gunfire, noise, smoke, etc. You have dudes yelling at you the whole time. Then you do something and a scripted event happens. If that's your thing, then more power to you.

The only thing I really didn't care for was the control. Everything else seemed pretty solid. It's just not my type of game.

I may or may not be currently employed by the number one manufacturer of GPUs in the world.
Yes that's fine. Just wanted to make sure you were ok with shooting the same enemy over and over in one game but not the other :]]]
The replicant soldiers in FEAR have just as much personality as the helghan soldiers in KZ2 - which is to say, none. They're there to die.

Difference is I'm interested in FEAR2 for more than the shooting of enemies.

What else does KZ2 have? Aside from graphics, that is.

I'll never have time to play all the good games that do interest me on the 360. And I'm fine with that. Gaming is a hobby, I'm not required to make time to play every good game or watch every good movie etc. etc.

So no point wasting time reading up on games on consoles I'll never own.
What else does KZ2 have? Aside from graphics, that is.
Amazing multiplayer, and the fact it's only for PS3.

I won't lie. I won't play the FEAR 2 multiplayer, if it has it. I'm there for the single player.

I will play KZ2 at some point, just probably when a friend has it or it's cheap.

Can you get me a deal on a Nvidia GTX295FTWSSCOMG edition? 4 of them so I can QUADSLI those assholes.

By watch, you mean beat off to clothes-removing combos, right?

I want to try that game, but as soon as I read the gameplay element of "the higher the combos, the fewer the clothes" (or something similar), I decided that it wasn't my style of game.

Two hands on the controller, man. Two hands.

:whistle2:k Might wanna try playing the demo again because based on your analogy, it was more like FEAR in my case.

It's definitely MY type of game! Though that should be no surprise since i'll also be picking up Onechanbara next week.

Dude, we're cooking up quintuple SLi. Imagine 5 GTX 380s running some sweet ass games. Very High at 60 fps in Crysis is now possible, you just need $2500 bucks for GPUs alone. :)
:whistle2:k Might wanna try playing the demo again because based on your analogy, it was more like FEAR in my case.
FEAR doesn't have marines yelling at me to "BLOW UP THE GODDAMNED fuckING BRIDGE!!!!" every 5 seconds. FEAR is more up front, more personal, you aren't just one dude in a big ass war. I like the more up close and personal nature of it. It felt more like Call of Duty than anything, and I don't really care for CoD. FEAR doesn't feel like CoD.

Hell yes! Finally! Someone else who's going to be picking up Oneechanbara!

I dropped a g on my CPU a i14. Native Octacore.

32million in superpi in like 1.3 seconds.

Certain moves seem to require temporary declothing, yes.

According to my GameInformer, she uses internal strength to keep her hair together, so if you suck at the game and are getting beat up, she'll have less on automatically. Hilarious.

I played a surprising amount of FEAR1 multiplayer on 360..

I'm weird, I know. I liked the controls and the speed of it. Reminded me of Quake.
Good thing I have a girlfriend. :]
That way she can hold the controller for you during those huge combos, right? ;)

Your life must be boring, either that or I am bewitched.

To be perfectly honest, I don't get all this KZ2 hype. I can barely remember anything about a KZ1, truth be told. I think I remember hearing about it for a week when it first launched, and then nothing more.

But then again, I don't really care for FPS games, so...:whistle2:?

It sucks, thats all the beef needs to know.

About a month ago, I'd say that first half of '09 was pretty sparse, but now here's all the games I'm keeping an eye on:

2/10 - Retro Game Challenge
2/17 - DQ V
2/24 - Killzone 2
2/24 - Ys I & II
2/26 - Prince of Persia Epilogue
3/ 3 - Phantasy Star Portable
3/17 - Resistance: Retribution
3/17 - GTA Chinatown Wars
4/ 5 - Rhythm Heaven
4/30 - Flower, Sun, and Rain
5/14 - Devil Summoner: Kuzunoha Raidou vs. King Abbadon

Now, I'll probably skip R:R, and def won't get KZ2 at launch, but where the hell did all this come from? I thought I'd have time for backlog.

I really want that SFIV faceplate, but my GSs looked at me like I was crazy when I asked for it.
----

Also, KZ2 is very, very good.

Got done playing some of the Phantasy Star PSP demo. The tutorials are excruciating, and the camera kinda sucks, but it's still fun. Gonna wait a little later to try the multi-player.
PM me the link.
Quick heads up for another SoFla user; even with the new Tampa distribution center, Gamefly still has annoying shipping.

Usually a 5 day turnaround for me starting from the morning I drop it in the mail until the day it arrives.

You should skip Resistance PSP. Controls are awful.

Unless he uses the "Infected" mode if he has a PS3 and Resistance 2. If I recall correctly he can then use his PS3 controller to play it. If I'm wrong, then yea, pass on Resistance PSP.

ya if your psp is hooked up to your ps3 which makes playing it on the psp abit redonkulous.

Well, in that case, pick it up when it's $8.

If it's anything like the PSP Syphon Filters (and it is,) you have to switch control schemes immediately. So that the face buttons walk, and the analog stick aims? Did you do this?

PSP controls are one of the things that have kept me from buying one--though the main factor is just that I have little need for a portable and seldom touch my DS.

I've borrowed my brothers a few times, but just hate playing it as both the analog nub and the d-pad suck. It's a shame as the screen is so damn good.
