Your description of the process of licensing music is written from the vantage point of someone with a diminished understanding of our legal system, but continues to want to have an opinion about it.

It is both more and less complex than you describe. More to the point, it's not about the developers and ownership. It's about publishers.
One reason we don't even see many VC games
BUH?!?!?! We DON'T see MANY VC games!?!?!?!

I don't see many VC games if I turn my PS3 on. But when I turn my Wii on, I see HUNDREDS.

(HUNDREDS!)

They have something every week. EVERY WEEK. Whether it's good or not is immaterial.

So your argument sucks, scientifically speaking. Try again. Stop scouring the internet for the first plausible explanation that defends Sony and believing that because it fits your philosophy to this generation, because anything other than "they're stupid and lazy and not doin' shit" is, logically, a shitty excuse. Because any argument to defend it implies, in order to remain plausible, that it applies to every single PSOne title ever. Otherwise, the argument fails.

 nice

I like how they're barely holding the controllers in that picture. and the 12 year old's eyes just look dead in every shot they take of him.

I want to share!

First console I ever played was my uncle's Colecovision, which is in a garage somewhere. I have very vivid memories of playing Adventure, the racing game, and the Tank shooting game.

My first console was an NES, I don't remember buying many games at all for it, but I borrowed a lot, and rented all the time from the local Tom Thumb grocery store.
I remember renting Dragon Quest because the art looked cool, but took it back the next day. It was so BORING! :)
I did own Final Fantasy, I never beat it, but watched my cousin finish the game.
I had Robocop, TMNT, some Muppets game, Zelda II, Batman (the good one), Dodgeball , Megaman III, and one of my personal faves, Quantam Fighter.
Man, where are these games now...... they have to be in my dad's garage somewhere too.

Got an SNES! I went crazy.
There's an old Christmas video of me saying right after unwrapping it. "Now I'm playing with Super Power!! Not just regular power with my old NES!"
Super Mario World blew my young self away.

Never had a Gameboy, but always wanted one. How much were they?
I eventually did get a Gameboy Pocket, and later a Gameboy Color, I even had the camera and printer....... oh man.

Got a PSX, and then PS2 and then games sucked. The end.

Every time I see that picture it makes me wish an asteroid would hit this planet and kill the miserable lot of us, I'm not even kidding.

Luckily I can cheer myself up with a quick glance at Gunm's sig pic.

First console I had growing up was Atari 5200. It sucked as the button would break on the controller after few weeks and then we could only play a couple games like Pacman and Frogger that didn't use the button.

So I didn't really get into gaming until we got an NES a year or 2 after it launched. From then on I've owned: Gameboy, SNES, N64, PS1, GBA, Dreamcast, PS2, GC, Xbox, DS, Wii, Xbox 360.

Gameboys were 100 bucks, I think.

I remember skipping the Gameboy and grabbing an Atari Lynx for 200 bucks. Scrap Dog, Slime World, and California Games kept me gaming for a few years. :x

I had an NES at our condo at the beach, and a few years later I got a SNES to keep at home. My dad took my brother to colorado one year and they picked up a N64 w/ OoT for me cause they felt bad I had to stay home for 2 weeks with my grandma. :(

I think I traded everything I had for SNES to grab a Playstation and ended up regretting it. I bought a PS2 in 2001(2002?) with money I had saved up and some fuckin' asshole broke into my house and stole it. I got my Xbox off of a girl that needed money for drugs and my first Gamecube was a hand me down.

He just realized that he could have done better.

Game Boy originally retailed for $89.99

My brother got one fairly early after launch, when there were only 5 games available, all made by nintendo :whistle2:(

There weren't ANY new games for the GB until Motorcross Maniacs and Castlevania Adventure hit a day or 2 before X-Mas '89.

I remember my brother being SOOO excited about seeing new games that he shouted 'YES!' so loudly I could hear him in the shoe department on the Kohl's store we were in at the time

First 5 GB games in Amerrrricuh:

Alleyway
Baseball
Tennis
Mario Land
Tetris(included w/ GB hardware)

Saddest thing is, he ended up getting all of them during those first 4 months.
Heiankyo Alien, muthafuggas. obscureeeee
I kept thinking of that one Acclaim puzzle game with the 'extreme' mohican tomato. Kwirk?

Alleyway is a fuckin' whore.

Many hours I spent playing Mario Land back in the day.

I thought maybe Revenge of the Gator or Solar Striker were launch titles, I guess not.

We might have got different launch titles in the UK.

The first GB game I ever saw was Double Dragon on a GB my mate had bought in Hong Kong, long before they were out officially in the UK.

I played a lot of Tetris on the old GB in a Montgomery Wards.
I still remember that little kiosk, and the little red reset button.

They eveh have Zelda playing on those CD-i systems.
I remember thinking 'What the heck is this...........?'

I remember buying True Lies on Gameboy and crying about not being able to return it cause it really sucked.
Solar Striker
My girl talks that game up and down like it were the best thing ever. Is it really that good?

EDIT: Hell yeah, dallow, except we had Service Merchandise and they always had 3D0/Jaguar on display.

Yeah it's definitely got a certain something, it is a very basic shmup by todays standards though.

I don't know what it was about GB games, but back in the day they seemed awesome, maybe it was having portable games for the first time.

It really is amazing how shit most of those GB/GBC games actually were.
They were barely a step up from the static background, lcd keychain games.

I don't think I ever saw a Jaguar out in the wild, maybe just a box somewhere.
Never saw a TG-16, or a NEOGEO when it was new.
I did once see a 3DO setup in some specialty arcade/game place. You had to pay to play it. Never did.

Revenge of the Gator = $$

I always thought the release pattern back in the day was Japan-US-------Europe
Even as a tiny lad, and a stark-raving-mad Castlevania fan, I knew that Castlevania Adventure was diarrhea in a cartridge.
Lies.

Sure that Belmont trudged like he was walking in Elmer's School Glue, but the fireball whip was neat.
Is The Legendary Axe available on VC? That game was the fuckin' jam.
Heh, that reminds me of an Uncle I had who bought a TG-16 for when kids visited him. He was married, but didn't have kids at the time. I don't think he put more than an hour into playing the system.

He was the only person I know who ever bought a TG-16

I used to love going to his house to play Bonk 1, Legendary Axe 2. I hated all those lame sports games that had the RPG potions though.

My first console was the Magnavox Odyssey. My first real console was a Colecovision. My dad made me play those for a month before letting me play NES. What an asshole.

From when I really started gaming...

SNES
GB
GBC
PS1
PS2
GBA
DS - 04
PSP - 05
PS3 - 06
Wii - 07
360 - 08

I was at an out-of-town Shopko and they had non-mario versions of these:

on clearance for $2 or $3.

I had my DS lite with me, and I put it in one of them to see the fit.

I picked a different color one and went to the check out.

I didn't realize I'd left my DS at the Shopko until I got home.

I called the store to see if it was found, but all that did was probably alert the teen working in electronics about a free DS Lite.

:wall:
Speaking of DS Lites...I'm going to go get mine today :whee:
I pre-ordered my blue DSi today with Rhythm Heaven! :whee:
It's basically a free game.

Still don't know if I'll sell the DSi for a little extra cash, looks like supply is pretty high so I'll end up keeping it.

Maybe that's what I secretly want.

You know that's exactly what you want ;)

I still kinda want a DSi, but I just don't care about anything it adds...I think I care more about it not having the gba port.

I want to see how good the browser on that DSi is. My laptop is broken but the only thing I need it for is the occasional mapquest whilst out of town.

Or maybe I'll just get one of those $200 teh kiddie laptops olol.
