Finished RE5 again, that's what, seven times now? Finally did a run through on veteran. Now I just need to grind for BP so I can have infinite ammo for every gun.

I still think Chris Redfield has the weirdest looking jaw i've ever seen in RE5...

I haven't played the game yet besides the demo, but I have to say capcom did a superb job on the cutscene animations as well as use of dynamic angles.

Still don' care for it too much though... half because I don't enjoy horror based games/movies and second RE just never interested me enough... probably the only one I ever liked and saw someone play all the way through was RE3.

just a heads up, you can get the 360 camera for dirt cheap now... get the "In the Movies" pack for $19.99 and it comes with the camera. It's more usefully as a webcam though.

Re5 is excellent, I really like Chris.

I wouldn't say its horror Rolento, it doesn't really seem like its trying to scare you. The vibe is more like a metal gear with zombies I'd say.

XBL is just an all around nice service, and maybe someday Sony will have things like party chat. I'd trade Home for party chat right now.
I'd trade HOME for a STD. The STD would provide more lolz and be less gay.
the PA games are great I'm sure, but I can't really play them seeing as I never like PA at all in the first place ever.
Or because PA lacks $$$$$$y crotch shots.

What kind of idiot buys a laptop for gayming?

Pretty much didn't buy it exactly for gaming. But it's got a decent video card in it to run stuff on not max settings.

Anything to say something negative about my posts, eh?

I guess I'll just also say zombie games I really don't enjoy. The only game that I do like that has emphasis on zombies was/is Dead Rising... largely because comedy had a larger role in the game than just zombie killing.

I will say, Dead Rising was a very good game with a very strange structure that kinda killed some of the fun, but made it unique.

you got a good deal my friend. A laptop w/ that vidcard is usually easily over $1000

Looks pretty cookie cutter. Guns, ramshackle homes, and more guns? I get the feeling I've been there once or twice (or a trillion times) this gen.

Don't flatter yourself princess.

My laptop has a 512MB video card, but I refuse to play PC games because PC gayming is for wierdos and pedos.

Which one are you?

I'm wondering what the big genre will be next after the FPS fad dies out...

previously it was sandbox games (kinda still is a bit), now it's also kinda music games as well, but for the future... any predictions?

I'm hoping fighters or beat-em-ups but I doubt it.

It's already happening .. tower defense games. And I think the fighting/beatemup "fad" happened in the arcade/sega days.
And I think the fighting/beatemup "fad" happened in the arcade/sega days.
Doesn't mean that it can't happen again. I mean look at crap like pogs.
Pogs are back?
Not right now they aren't I don't think (although I do see them in stores) but didn't they just come around again for like the 3,4 or 5th time just a couple years ago?

I was mostly just referring to the fact that most "fads" come in cycles.
Doesn't mean that it can't happen again. I mean look at crap like pogs.
exactly. Digital distribution already shows that it can re-start fads. Geometry Wars is to blame for the oversaturation of SHMUPs on XBLM/PSN and others.

I personally wouldn't mind a re surge of popularity in RPGs, but not by square at all and in an entirely new direction... valkyrie chronicles is a good vision of this: a new setting, system, and lvling structure that is good and dosn't demand too much from the player.

I've been eager to play Stalker, Crysis, TF2 (For reals), and Company of Heroes. Starcraft 2 will be nice next year too.

Do you think crysis is worth buying for this laptop? I don't care if it's max settings, I just want to play it.

^Crysis was more for "OMG look at dem gfx!!"...the game it self is quite boring at times (depending how you go about things for each mission) and the helicopter levels are...>_

Fighters and beat em' ups were big in the 16-bit gen...I don't think they'll come back around. I mean, SFIV had a huge marketing push and still only moved 400k on both systems. Which isn't bad, but not genre-reviving good. And beat-em-ups get low scores from sites just for being beat-em-ups, which sucks.

I think first person perspective games, shooters and all, will remain popular. There's really no signs of slowing down, only selling more and more.
It's already happening .. tower defense games. And I think the fighting/beatemup "fad" happened in the arcade/sega days.
Depends on what you mean by "fad." What people play? What gets released in abundance? What is released in abundance that has a market for it, and what is released that doesn't?

Until we see sales/profits decline, I think we'll see more cookie-cutter games. Companies will be afraid to take on some kind of big-budget art-darling Tim Schafer project. Digital distribution helps them to a degree (we'd never see the everyday shooters, braids, and bittripbeats of this gen without it), but the question being asked is too vague.

Overstaturation? Hmm. I don't know about that. What I like about the 360, and to a lesser degree, PS3, is that they've made "scores" count again. I still remember how shocked I was when I read that people were, en masse, trying to outdo each other's GW scores. THAT's some retro shit right there. Score fighting, somehow, stayed limited to that game pretty much only, though, with the exception of achievement/trophy whores. Now they compete for levels, points, and recognition. It's semi-retro, since we're comparing silly numbers and tokens.

But that's not a genre, now, is it? ;)
SFIV had a huge marketing push
where? I didn't really see much of anything I'd call "marketing," let alone a huge push.
Just watched King of Kong, Billy Mitchell seems like a read dickhead.
Something about his smug look, brushed hair, and U-S-A! necktie collection make you want to slap the taste right out of his mouth. But if you step back for a second, count to five, and think "well, tomorrow he's going to wake up in the morning and still be Billy Mitchell," then you develop some sympathy for the guy.

Ikaruga and Geo War 2 brought out the score fighter in me.

I spent a whole day studying the first level of Ikaruga to get the closest to perfect run I could. Glorious.

I'm still not a score freak but I see the attraction. But yeah, too many dual stick shmups IMHO. not in a bad way since it's nice for the people who love the genre, but it's kinda anoying when XBLA weekly games would be 2 weeks in a row of shmups.

I personally wish more bored and card games would come out more often... I miss playing Catan and Carcassone

I really need to get back into Ikaruga. Recently started playing Geo War 2 again. Started improving some of my old scores. One thing I've found is that after not playing the game for a while , I have a new found appreciation for King and Pacifism. They are now my 2 favorite modes in the game.

Dear The Crotch,

Why the hell are you pretending to be DMK?

What the fuck are you talking about?

My last signature/title series has run its course. This is a holdover until I figure out what to do next. It seemed cleverer in my head than it looks to me now. Darwin will return when I get a new signature and title.

As someone who follows the PSN releases more than XBLA, I suppose my view is slanted by the abundance of Tower Defense Games (hereafter TDG). To be fair, after watching the free month of Qore, I am still mad excited about Fat Princess.

I did enjoy Astro Tripper, though I would have killed a motherfucker if I paid $10 for that short of a game. $5 was tolerable.

I personally wish more bored and card games would come out more often... I miss playing Catan and Carcassone

HASBRO FAMILY TIME! OH, SHIT! I GOTTA PAY FOR 'EM?

Why don't you play Catan and Carcassone, then?

I find myself buying all the XBL releases I want, but never playing any of them. Just bought the Dishwasher and I'm all "Awesome, this game rules!" but I won't get around to it ever.

but it's all on MS' dime from the car challenge, so meh

What, exactly, is your point?

I didn't go into buying the laptop to get a gaming system. I went into buying a >$1000 laptop and found one that does that also.

OH MY GOD HE BURND ME SO BAD ON INTERNETS

On a more constructive point - Crysis runs okay on Medium settings on this. The demo, anyway. I'd think the full version would be more optimized. Should I get it? Or wait till may for that double pack with it and warhead? It'd be about $10-$15 savings.

Oh, sorry, I'm only allowed to use this laptop for non-gaming purposes then, to not have seanr act like a dick towards me? are those the rules? would that make you feel better? It has to be one or the other, can't be both. Are you seriously that thick to ask that question?

Also, saying MANG makes you sound like you're mentally handicapped. Or maybe that's just yo STYLE and I CAN'T HANDLE HOW ORIGINAL YOU ARE.

Warhead runs better than Crysis. If you are running Vista x64, you can run both Crysis and Warhead in 64 bit mode and get a few FPS there.

As a game, I like Warhead more. It's only like 5 hours long at most, but it's just all of the good things about Crysis with almost none of the bad. I'd wait for the pack, personally.

Also, welcome to the "wierdo" and "pedo" club! :)

I fought was I assume to be the final boss in Persona 3 last night. I spent 2 hours between all the forms/arcana. And then I ran out of revives after the instant death spell hit me.

I guess its time to go grind in Tartarus again.
