not impressed.

not trying to be generic internet malcontent. seriously, the blog lacks substantive content and concludes with a demonstrably absurd thesis.

C minus.
Taken was a pretty fun movie. Completely mindless and predictable, but fun nontheless.

Just watched Lawrence Of Arabia. It's easily one of the best things ever made.
Bridge Over the River Kwai >>>LoA
Gah, I missed the free coke XBL points. Jerks didn't put it up til during the work day.
I put one in for you. didn't really read the article, but then again, I don't really know how to read. Reading English is so much harder than writing it.
Yea - I want to see Taken. They advertised that movie a ton here, but I believe it did terribly.
Really? I heard nothing about Taken. I went and saw it because I had nothing to do, and was very pleasantly surprised. Good thriller-type movie.
I'm glad I've been ignored but I figured it out anyway.
What was wrong/what did you have to do to fix it? I'm planning on buying a touch whenever Apple decides to come out with a new version/generation.

I did not say it was bad. Why do I keep getting quoted like I said that? I said, "I believe it did terribly" (in sales) which is a bummer. I still really want to see it.

Who are you?

j/k. In all seriousness and honesty, I think the article does need a little work. For one thing, I think it needs specific/concrete examples of gameplay or other gaffes. I also think it needs some opinion or insight as to why you think the genre nose dives from there (beyond just titles of other bad games). Beyond that, I think your writing is at it's best when it's Chac from CAG instead of the more generic and "trying to be a serious writer seriously" John ?.

Good luck!

I want to play Valykria Chronicles but the PS3 is upstairs in the hot hot bedroom and the 360 is down here on the HDTV with air conditioning....
I got the 2 Phantasy Star games for GC from a local gamestore.

One of them is sort of rare, right?
Yeah, Phantasy Star Online Episode I & II is the rare one. It's also one of the best games on Gamecube, especially in coop.

What I was referring to was that you said it was advertised a ton around you. Out here I don't think there really was any advertising. Sorry about the confusion, with my poorly worded english

I played through the Dynasty Warriors Gundam demo (first one) today, and it seemed enjoyable enough. Not a big Dynasty Warriors fan, but giant robots are always good.

Is there any difference between the Xbox/PS3 versions? Also, does the sequel improve on anything substantially? Would I be better off skipping the (cheaper) first game to go right to the sequel?

The article was a bit generic and didn't say much that hasn't been said about state of emergency. Do a little more digging next time. That's what I love about the Retronauts blog, is I learn so many new and weird things about old stuff on there.

My poorly worded English is what brought us into this mess. Haha. Ok: Taken looks good, I want to see Taken. There, I'm done! :applause:

Oh and @Manthing - If I'm so dang annoying and idiotic you can click my name > go to ignore > and all your dreams will come true. Just like I did for you! Viola no more drunken troll for me and no more idiotic annoying bear for you!

There is an obvious and simple solution to this... bring your bedroom downstairs and your living room upstairs!

yeah chac, i read the article a few days ago, while a good read it needs some substance to back some of your points up. at this point it feels more like a "personal opinion" talk than something informative with a bit of personal opinion.

Started Saints Row 2 today.

Only played about an hour, but I can see a lot of the appeal from what people talk about it. Seems like a fantastic game that sold like a $60 box of venereal diseases. Shame, really.

I played through the "zombie uprising" video game, and I hope there's more of that in the game. fuck yeah I do.

The two problems I had with the first one linger, though - but none of it is gameplay related:
1) The game seems to think it's funny as shit. Some of the humor in this game is just unadulterated lowbrow, but there's something about the vibe of this title that seems to consider itself absolutely hilarious. "You can't beat our meat" on a fast food sign? really? It's the same problem that third graders suffer from when they scribble poetry on bathroom walls. They may be the 5 billionth person to scrawl "here I sit, broken hearted/tried to shit but nearly farted" on the wall, but, by god, they're a GENIUS!

2) Despite the humor, I can't tell if the game is self aware of its own stereotypes, or if it's made by assholes. It takes itself seriously at times that it shouldn't. A lot of macho man "Vin Disel" kinda stuff thus far, and I can't see even a hint that this game was made with tongue planted firmly in cheek.
Do you hear me, motherfucker? You hear me, Bear? You had better meticulously research any and every statement that you ever make! Especially if you preface it with something all wishy-washy like "I heard..." or "If I'm not mistaken..." or even "I believe..."

Hell... "I believe?" No, fuck that, no using that. Because you know who uses that? Pussies, that's who. Are you a pussy?

Because if so, can you upload a picture of you? I want to know what one looks like.

well, just beat fallout 3... I certainly don't know what to think...

I personally think the story didn't feel as epic as it always almost did... I do say though that the best part of the game for me was the environments... I still have to conclude what exactly I think of it.
Is Saints Row 2 crash prone?

Just froze up on me in the middle of a mayhem mission.

I hope it's the game and not my console (PS3 btw).
23 hours and not a single freeze, but reviews said that it was crash prone. Did you DL the update?

Yeah, most of the humor outside of the main story is shit. I cringed when I saw the restaurant called Phuc Mie Phuc Yeu There are decently funny things in some of the cut scenes though.

The vibe I got from the game is that it was trying to be a playable Hollywood summer blockbuster, and I feel it completely succeeded in that. It does take itself seriously at times, and there is a lot of macho man shit, but that just adds to what it was trying to do. Beats the hell. out of GTA's heavy handed bullshit of a story.

DW2 has Psycho and Nu Gundam. Skipping wise, play the first one then the second one (cause maybe the second one will have dropped by then). I personally love both though

ps3 or 360 wise....go ps3 if you want your game to have some value later on(most anime-based games drop in value for xbox/360 but hold a lil or a lot on a playstation platform)

Mass Effect is a great game. It just is significantly less great at the beginning than the end. Stick with it and you'll love it. Not for short attention spans. The beginning is kinda slow. The end is one of the best endings I can remember.

So I'm in my 2nd playthrough of MGS4, and I just started Act 5, and I'm thinking "hey, this is my 2nd playthrough, where's all my shit from the 1st?" I realize shortly after that I had completely forgotten to load the game clear save, and I instead just started a completely fresh new game. #-o

Oh well, it's only Act 5, so I'll just make sure to remember this time...hopefully.

+1 for Mass Effect. Starts out a bit slow, but only gets better.

Think of that first Alliance planet as Mass Effect's Taris (that opening planet in KOTOR 1) -- long with some really cool parts, but gets kinda boring running around in the same area for a couple hours.

I can't wait.

I agree, me and my ADD have been trying to finish this game for a while... Good game though.

Hmmm, as a new 360 owner, what games do you guys recommend other than Mass Effect?
I have Halo 3 and Fable 2 from the new elite bundle so far.

I've been curious about the Tomb Raider games since I've never played one and they're pretty cheap.

Also, any XBLA recommendations as well?
Wtf happened to the new Getaway for PS3? I'm watching the very first GT Bonus round, hehe.
The testers probably scratched their eyes out looking for a map.

@Inf^Shini -- You should try Battle Fantasia and Dead Rising.

They cancelled it to devote more resources to SingStar.

Some are on the PS3, so if you've played them, nevermind:

Bioshock
Gears Of War
Gears Of War 2
Beautiful Katamari
The Darkness
Call Of Duty 4
SFIV
Left 4 Dead
I can't think of too many right now, but those are some of my favourites on the 360.

Now that I'm playing through Saints Row 2, I kinda wish I played through all of the first one.

And it's bonkers cheap these days. Then again, so is the second.

Seems like there's a few people playing through Saints Row 2 at the mo. Spent a few hours co-oping it this afternoon. It always makes me laugh when you're shooting at a rival gang member and they take a hostage, like that's gonna stop you shooting both of them. My mate had an annoying habit of stealing cop cars, but I'm getting pretty good at picking off the chasing cops as we drive about.
Lose Odyssey
TMNT: arcade 1989
Worms
Virtua On: OT
Sounds good. The others I've played before or own on other systems.
I'm one of the few whose has not played COD4 yet :/

More recommendations wanted! I'm looking to make use of the GS 20% coupon off used 360 games as much as possible; it came RIGHT on time!

Also, how different is Saints Row 2 from GTA4?

I wish PS3 had gotten Mass Effect(hoping for ME 2 on PS3). It was one of the games that made me almost get a 360. Also is Saints Row 2 really cheap(on sale) somewhere? I was just wondering if there was a deal on it because of it being mentioned a lot recently.
