Well the main difference is SR2 is fun, whereas GTA4 is a more accurate simulation of the monotomy of everyday life, with increased amounts of annoying phone calls.
I wish PS3 had gotten Mass Effect(hoping for ME 2 on PS3). It was one of the games that made me almost get a 360. Also is Saints Row 2 really cheap(on sale) somewhere? I was just wondering if there was a deal on it because of it being mentioned a lot recently.
I bought the SR2 CE (with bullet-shaped usb drive. wow.) for $35 shipped from Amazon a bit back. It's been sitting in the backlog.

Mass Effect talk will probably have me heading out to Toys R Us tomorrow. They carry that and Orange Box for $5 each. I've been meaning to play Orange Box for years, just hearing casual gamers tell me that Half Life 2 is one of the greatest games ever has always made me want but I just never had the time. To top off Orange Box's awesomeness my gamerscore currently ends in 7 and one of Orange Box's achievements is worth 13 points, woot.

@Inf^Shini - My brother has a Wii and is getting a 360 this summer. He is planning on the Halo trilogy, Left 4 Dead (both our laptops aren't really meant for gaming so we've been waiting for him to get 360 so we can both get this), and a bunch of XBLA games (Castle Crashers, Alien Hominid, Braid, Geo Wars 1/2) to start. We'll probably both get some cheap co-op games like Army of Two. We split the 360 when we got it also so I also still have Beautiful Katamari and Kameo waiting for him in my collection.
Anyone heard anything new on Alan Wake? So few details...
E3 my friend, E3...........

And finally I've been having some insane password troubles on Firefox. I just recently go a 16" Widescreen 16:9 HP Laptop and I absolutely love every single thing about it but for some reason none of my passwords save in Firefox even when I check to save and click 'Remember' when Firefox asks.

I had a lot of fun with OB on 360, but after going PC with it and L4D, there's no going back..

STALKER is so GOOD!

Yea, I'm always stunned to see people playing L4D on the 360. Seems pretty hard to do that. I've gotten it on PC and it is awesome having a mouse and it almost seems vital.
That doesnt mean the control scheme is good, it just means you are an exceptional player that voluntarily plays with a handicap.
Right...

Or, he's just good with a control and not with a KB/M?

It's like fighting games. Most serious players use a stick, but there are some high level people that play on a pad. It's just preference.

Picked up Mass Effect last night. Liked the first 30 minutes I played, but I wish it had Kotor's combat.

Controlling a game with a keyboard is a bigger handicap, IMO.

I've never understood why they didn't make a nunchuck like peripheral for pc. I love aiming with a mouse, but I'd much rather have an analog stick for walking than using wasd.

That is a great idea! Hmmm...

I think Valkyria Chronicles may be my favorite PS3 game so far. And I suck at strategy.

Ergh, I want to get it so bad. The demo was good, but not the best thing ever - what is different about the retail version that puts it over the top?

I'm debating about whether I should keep my new 360 elite or not :whistle2:k

I was convinced Jasper would be included in the package but I come to find out today mine has a manufacture date of July 2008 and all signs point to a falcon unit.
I followed this little tutorial and came out disappointed, not to mention that this IS a new bundle but they threw in an old 2nd Gen 360
http://www.anandtech.com/gadgets/showdoc.aspx?i=3472&p=3

Thing is, I've already cracked open the game and everything else, so I'll probably be stuck with it anyways :/

Part of the reason for waiting was for a nice bundle (check), but also to allow enough time for the fairly new revised 360 mobo to get settled into the market so I could pick up a unit with a possible decreased chance of RRoD and that would run cooler.
The last batch of falcons are better than the new jaspers, don't worry.
Any sources to ease my mind?

There's a couple reasons why I'm a bit perturbed:
1. It's a NEW bundle with a 2nd gen 360, not a 3RD gen one.
2. I want a 360 that runs cooler.
3. It's possible this new revision could decrease the chance of RRoD. Despite the chance of this not being true, I'd still want to have that piece of mind.
4. I want less power consumption. The new Japser units only consume 100W with a 150 PSU while the older Falcon's 120W with a 175W PSU.

I wouldn't worry about it. If you cracked everything open without checking to make sure it was a Jasper first, then you couldn't have been that concerned about it, right? ;)

If it makes you feel better, I'm playing on a Halo 3 LE console. :p

I'll bite...how come?

I'm thinking of getting one of the new Elite bundles, but if you've got hard proof, then you might save me some bucks :)

:(

I cracked it open because after years of waiting, I just couldn't wait to mess around with the damn thing since it had two games I had REALLY wanted to play plus get in on some of the contests and whatnot.

After a bunch of googling, it seems not that many people have found an Elite with a jasper mobo out there anyway, but I did happen to find a lot of angry people finding out that their Elite GOTY bundle didn't contain a Jasper unit.

I'll probably get over it...that is until I run into the RRoD ;)

Like this?

I'm guessing they don't sell as many Elites, hence less Jasper Elites are being made?

I wish this whole region-coding BS was tossed out the window already. But, it's like MS knows there's this small niche group of crazy otaku willing to import a Japanese 360 just to play some obscure Japan-only shmups. :/

I guess what I'm wondering about is whether NXE really loads faster and doesn't freeze up on Jasper systems and if the system is significantly quieter. Those are the only qualms I have left with the 360.

NXE no. Quieter, yes.

My Jasper didn't come with NXE pre-installed though.

I do want a Jasper for my Nippon 360. That's a console I want to have working for as long as possible. I'd rather get from PA, but seems like only NCSX is able to gurantee/pick out the Jaspers.

Broken Steel tomorrow! :whee:

I'm not sure on sources honestly, I'd say google it. All I hear is how the new jaspers have many freezing issues, and I never had my falcon freeze up on me. I also have a whisper max fan installed in mine that keeps it %240 cooler as well.
Win:win.
NXE is bonkers fucking slow.

I wish I could go back to blades, and not have to wait 40 seconds for my arcade games to show up in my menu.
Yes, my 360 is just a mess now. I give up. I'm suspended until I pay them 50 bucks (bullshit) and everything is super slow and my HDD is filled. Ahh!

Planning on finishing up RE5 tonight. Probably going to pick up Mass Effect and Orange Box tomorrow night for a cool $9.98, which is the sole reason why I don't generally pick up single player only games for a while after release.

Beat Resident Evil Zero over the weekend and just started on REmake.

So for someone who has only played the RE5 demo, how does the single player aspect of RE5 stack up against the partner-swapping of RE0?

I've also played the first handful of missions in Saints Row 2 as well, but I think after GTAIV, I'm having sort of a sandbox burnout, so I think I'm gonna put it on hold for now and spend more time playing SMT Nocturne.

Didn't pay his Live bill on time.

Never buy Live with your CC over the 360. Turns into a recurring subscription, unless you add time before the next payment is due.

This x 100

I hate NXE. Its slow and I find it difficult to locate what I'm looking for sometimes. I wish Microsoft would just rip off the XMB / PS Store setup.
when i didnt have a mouse on me, playin tf2 on pc with a 360 controller just felt wrong
I play TF2 with a 360 pad on PC, just cause I'm so used to playing spy/Engie with those controls for selecting weapons/disguises. Everything else I can play either way, except sniper, which is much, much better with a mouse.

L4D is a mouse/kb game, though.
I learned the hard way... fucking ass holes.
Yea me to... friggen lame. I did not know you had to pay the bill on time. What the hell am I renting out an apartment or something? I understand not paying it, so they reduce you to silver - but banning you from doing anything?! Ridiculous.

Nothing like it at all. Sheva is pretty much always with you, aside from one or two moments where she's gone for about 10 seconds.

I dunno, it's not that different, but a half an hour is not enough time to get into an SRPG.
It's fun single player too! It's like contra, but way more hectic and easier. definitely day 1 for me.
works for me though i hope its 400 pts despite the fact it wont cost me anything at any price

Good news for Myke (via Joystiq):

Capcom is going to make its PlayStation Network presence a lot more robust as it begins releasing ports of PS1 titles and providing downloadable versions of previous PSP titles throughout the year. We spoke with Capcom's Chris Kramer, who let us know that the company would be listening to what the community wants and figuring out internally what titles to release -- but don't expect any of them to involve licensing shenanigans along the lines of Marvel vs. Capcom.

"We'll definitely be looking at a lot of titles that have things like Street Fighter and Resident Evil in the title," Kramer said. "We're thinking about putting together a long list of the titles we're looking at, and then releasing it on Capcom Unity and having people vote on them. Ultimately we're looking at bringing between 20 and 40 titles to the PSN over the next several months."
