I'd get MW2 but I've got honestly shittier games I'd rather be playing. MW2 is fun but it dosn't really appeal to me much. My dad really enjoyed beating CoDWoW though, but then again he plays almost every PC FPS under the sun.

oh, and I'm with willard in terms of batman... it's a game that can be really good, but there's enough to offset my likes about it.
What is Atlus picking up, dallow?
Hopefully 3D Dot Game Heroes from From Software.
They mentioned playing the demo that FS has sent to different US/EU publishers.
I have no desire for MW2. I'll sign it out and beat the single player in a couple days never to touch it again.

I'm only interested in the single player so I'll pick up MW2 when it's $20-30 or something.
Yeah, if you're not going to do the multiplayer, it's not really worth buying.
I see the Van Halen pre-order deal as a completely desperate attempt to get that game into as many hands as possible since they're releasing it at the super confident release date of December 22.
I don't get putting them on a game disc by themselves. Maybe I just live in an area that's not representative of the rest of the country but I don't know a single person that likes Van Halen or has any of their cds/dls. I don't think I even have a friend that could name one of their songs other than maybe Girls, Girls, Girls.

Pretty much the same here... except for the siginng out thing. As of now the only game I might pick up that month is Agarest: Generations of War(If the price is right).

CRANKY OLD MAN ALERT

I can't believe how expensive movie theater tickets/food is these days.

I've only been to a non-dollar movie theater 3 times in the past 2 years so I'm always shocked when I see the prices. I'm pissed that I spent $30 bucks on two ticket, 1 med drink, 1 med popcorn.

The couple in front of me got popcorn, drinks, candy AND nachos. I don't want to even think about how much he spent.

Inglourious Bastards was excellent though.

No more wide-release movie trips for me unless it's Pixar.

Ticket prices have went up, but I don't mind $10-11 for a good film. I try to do matinees when I can to save a few bucks. But I'm a big movie lover, so I'm kind of stuck. Much bigger hobby for me than games.

I never get any food or drinks though. I can make it through a movie without eating, and drinking just leads to needing a bathroom break. So no since in paying those absurd prices.

When I went to see District 9, two large drinks and 2 medium popcorns......$24

I was not shocked but it reminded me why I usually sneak stuff in.

I'm a film lover too, but I really just prefer seeing it at home now since I have a decent setup and it usually looks better than in the theater. (i prefer fine detail vs huge fuzzy screen) Few of the movies I want to watch end up on the premium 4K digital screens.

I only went to see Up in a theater because I had to see it in 3D.

Matinee is definitely a lot cheaper, and there are still some places here that'll do it for $5.00.
Also, I'll be sneaking in food and drinks again. It was too last minute to do it last night.

I have a decent set up too, but still just can't beat the experience of seeing a good film on the big screen at a nice theater IMO. Quality varies a lot theater to theater. I was amazed with the picture at the theater where I saw Inglourious Basterds, it really looked like a huge HD screen and had none of the film grain, scratches and dirt on the print etc. that you sometimes get. But even if it has some flaws, the size matters a lot to me. Same with TV shopping I'll always prioritize size over picture quality when trying to get the most bang for my buck since I'm not a videophile at all.

I'll wait for stuff like comedies to Netflix since the big screen doesn't help much there--other than the crowd experience of having a 100+ people to laugh along with.

But anything with good cinematography, special effects, etc. I still catch on the big screen.

Because that's their philosophy for GH games. They're starting to turn it around with importing, despite the poor start to that process.

It's $7.50 here to see a movie at night, which isn't bad. I did love going to see movies for $0.50 at the dollar theater, as the matinee started an hour after I got out of school and most of the movies were only a month or so old.

All Summer i've been going to the drive in where its $8 for two movies. Other than that I have a hard time going to the movies because its expensive and that i'd rather be in my own home watching it.

$6.50 to see a movie here at night with college discount. Not terrible, but when movies hit the $2 theater a week or two after release I feel bad for spending $6 on it.

I see pretty much everything in theaters...even stuff I don't particularly care about. I just love going.

Yeah, I used to be much the same way. Being older and busier I have to be more picky about what I see due to time constraints.

But I just love going to the theater. I don't begrudge those who prefer watching at home....means less people rattling popcorn, slurping drinks, texting etc. in the theater! :D

But thankfully I'm not too sensitive to distractions, so I don't get annoyed very often. Going to weekday matinees or the first showings on Saturday or Sunday morning helps as well.

I thought I'd be sneaky and see Up at it's first showing on a Sunday, but darnit, had a little girl sitting behind us saying 'Oh my!' over and over throughout the movie. :)
It was only cute the first couple times.

Yeah, kids movies you're out of luck as lots of parents do take their kids to early showings. Those you're probably better off with one of the lastest showings a couple weeks after release.

R-rated movies tend to be empty in the matinees on weekdays and weekend as the 17+ crowd is at school/work on the weekdays, and hung over/tired from social outings Friday/Saturday night to make the 10-11 am Sat/Sun showings most of the time.

Yeah, I definitely have less time now that school's started again to go as much as I'd like. Between it and work I'm pretty much left with the last showings of the night or weekends.

Oh well. Still fun :D

Your post frightens and confuses me...but then again, I'm just a Caveman. I don't know of your strange playing of games that haven't been released yet, or this agreeing with "Willard" stuff. :D

Just seems strange to me. I haven't been to a GS in over 12 months, but the PSP section has always been scant and disorganized at best. I don't see that growing over time, and could really see the PSP largely disappearing from retail stores in the next 12-18 months. Especially if releases stop coming on UMD at all.

Nah myke.

The GO isn't being made to replace the 3000 model. In fact there's another UMD model coming (4000) that probably has a few of the GO features like Bluetooth.

It's just there for the savvy consumer that doesn't want to be tied down with physical media, and wants a more portable solution than the current sized PSP.

I'd love one because of it's size, but switching over to pure DD will be hard for me.

EDIT: If it's ever hackable, and I can rip my UMDs with my 1000 model and put them on the GO. I'll buy it.

Wait if you believe UMD's are going to completely vanish wouldn't selling something like the PSP GO make sense?

Finally I'm getting a copy of Dragon Quest 4 from Goozex... now I just need to wait for DQ5...

Considering that the PSP is less than dominating the market, doesn't having two different products that are essentially the same thing seem a little...Sega-y to you?

I'll be picking up a PSP GO but keeping my 1000 for my older games(And the occasional import and retail game)

As a former (nearly) militant Sega fan, I feel like I can confidently say, "Oh fuck yes".

As much as I miss the days when I could walk into Toys R Us and pick from...

Sega Genesis games
Sega CD games
Sega 32x games
Sega Saturn games
Sega Gamegear games

and purchase the following hardware to play said games on...

Sega Genesis console
Sega Nomad
Sega CDX combined Genesis/CD console
Sega CD console
Sega Saturn console
Sega 32x console
Sega Gamegear

It wasn't working well for Sega. Sony has a ways to go before reaching that level of absurdity but the fact that they're releasing a PSP 3000 bundle with Gran Turismo right after the PSP Go launch (as opposed to doing the European DD-version of GT with the Go) seems to point to a certain lack of confidence in the Go at least in the US.

Wow, I actually started those lists to be at least a little facetious but if you look at the official start/end dates for each of those consoles, you literally could buy them at the same time. Some might've been tough to find (I remember seeing the CDX in stores exactly once) but damn that's some kind of ambition.

PSPGo is mostly the same functionality as the current PSP, just in a slightly different package. You might as well ask why Nintendo decided to sell a DSi along side the DS as the business behind doing it is similar. Also, unlike Sega, Sony is sticking behind PS3 and the general PSP design/software. Thanks to BluRay winning the HD format war, you're not going to see a PS4 any time soon, much less a PS3 add-on with enhanced/different technology).

Sony is aware of the existing player base for PSP1000-3000 as well as their retail distribution channels and are not going to undermine that by making only PSPGo digital distribution in the near future. Could PSP2 be online only with just download codes in cases or PSN cards at some point? I'm going to guess, most likely...
snip
That's just great for Sega fans like you and I, but, as you said, it was terrible in the long run for Sega and killed consumer confidence, and I can see the same thing happening to Sony. Not to the extent of Sega's situation, but this seeming lack of faith in their product can't be good for the company.

EDIT: You also forgot all three models of Genesis and the two different models of SegaCD to fit them, but that's just nitpicking.
You might as well ask why Nintendo decided to sell a DSi along side the DS as the business behind doing it is similar.
I can buy a DS cart and play it in my DSi.

Haven't found a spot to put a UMD in the Go yet.

The jury is still out on this, of course, but we'll really know for certain if, say, six months after the Go is released, the PSP section grows even smaller than it already is. That Fates/Unlimited game is on the PSN store only, as are Patapon 2 and Holy Badman! Whatever This Game is Called I Totally Forgot. There are a handful of other titles that have UMD releases elsewhere.

I don't think my line of thinking is totally off kilter. After all, the UMD movie is long relegated to bargain bin status and I'm pretty confident new releases don't happen anymore.

So what would you say when you found out that you are wrong?

A quick look through Amazon shows that select titles do see UMD Movie releases. But don't ask me who buys them. The only UMD I brought was for $5 just to try one out and that was it.
Suppose I'm a video game retailer.

Suppose you're Sony.

I think an exec at GS went on record a couple weeks ago that they were looking forward to the Go, because it will fuel UMD trade-ins. Go figure.

Pure DD is a total deal breaker for me. Games are just disposable entertainment to me. I seldom buy any, just get most off of Goozex, see the credits roll and throw them back on there. I have no interested in collecting them and keeping them around as I'll never touch them again.

So pure DD just doesn't work as I don't enjoy gaming enough to spend money I can't get a large part of back.

Maybe if full fledged games were $5-10 (and not just shorter/simpler games like XBLA titles) I could deal with it. I don't have a problem with dropping $5-10 on an e-book for my Kindle that I'll only read once. That's pocket change as I kind of view it like buying a movie ticket.

But when you're talking paying pretty much the same prices as disc based games for a full fledged download, no way, Jose.

Since you're the only person I've heard of buying a Kindle, let me ask you: why the hell would you want to read a book on a screen?

You can usually get whatever paperback suits your fancy for $5-10 on Amazon.
Oh, I technically still have it, it's just at my parents house somewhere

Believe me, you will be the first to know!

1. I seldom ever re-read a book, so I hate buying a book and having it waste space in my house when I'm probably never going to touch it again. I've been trying to pare down my belongings a lot in recent years, and have been pretty successful. I hated having a bunch of junk I was never going to touch again laying around and cluttering up my condo. Moving 600+ miles over the summer was a big incentive to pare down as well.

I also hated hassling with the library, and dealing with donating or selling books after I read. So e-books are just more more convenient for me as I don't have a physical item to deal with, or due dates and limited selection at the library etc.

2. The Kindle screen is just as easy on the eyes as paper. No backlighting etc. with e-ink, so you don't get eye strain like with an LCD screen. So reading on a screen isn't a negative on an e-ink device IMO.

3. And I find it more comfortable to hold and read on than a real book. Thick books are a pain when you're near the beginning or end. Especially paperbacks.

4. Convenience. Great to be able to buy a book and start reading instantly. Also love that you can get samples of the first couple of chapters of pretty much every book in the kindle store. I hear about a book that interests me, I go to Amazon.com and send a sample to my Kindle, and it's there for me to check out when I get around to it.

5. Price. New releases are mostly $9.99, so I don't have to wait a year or so for the paperback to come out to get the book for a decent price since hardbacks are so expensive.

6. Ease for travel. Great to be able to take tons of books everywhere you go in something about the size and weight of 1 paperback.

Anyhow, I love it. One of the best gadgets I've ever bought, and I've read a lot more since getting it due to the convenience factor.

I must say, you make a convincing argument. Seems like a neat device!

Personally, I need to able to flip the pages by my nose and have that distinct book aroma flood my nostrils. But maybe that's just me.

so anyone else other than friskytanuki pick up defense grid on xbla? if not buy it if u like tower defense and even if u dont this game may convert u!

My friend bought one and just got it in today actually. I felt the same way you did until I saw it. The screen looks exactly like ink on paper. There is some amazingly cool technology behind those e-ink displays. I would totally get one if they were $150 ish.

Yeah, I can respect that.

I'm that way with music and movies. I still buy CDs even though I do most listening on MP3s ripped from them these days, and have little interest in buying digital movies. I just like having the physical copies.

Both those are also things I listen to/watch repeatedly over the years, where as I seldom re-read a book. I do have some of my favorite books on the shelf still, and anything I read an e-book of and really loved I'd probably track down a cheap hardcover the next time I wanted to read it.
