It's only for a week, too. If they made it 400 points permanently and made it an Arcade Hit (they haven't added one in over a year) then I might care.

You really are an asshole, aren't you?

Is what got that term in my head. Lappy.

I think I'm gonna have to cave and get Defense Grid... having wayyyyyyyyyyy too much fun with it. Would be nice to buy it some where other than use my existing points...
The least? What the hell kind of colon melting horror games are you playing?
I think I've mentioned this in this thread before. The thing is it's almost impossible for media to scare me. My mind rationalizes it into the fact that it's not real therefore there is nothing for me to fear, so I don't get scared at all. Especially in a game like Dead Space where most of the scare factor comes from things popping out at you. It just doesn't affect me at all.

The only game that has ever scared me is Fatal Frame 2. That's only because the plot had to do with a sick ritual involving twins, and I have a twin. So actually I was probably more disturbed than actually scared.
I picked up another complete copy of Lunar: SSSC yesterday at a flea market for $2.50. Just a little dust on the discs with no scratches. No big box/leather manual either, but I already have enough of those. I was just happy with the Dragonmaster Dyne/Alex disc variant (as I didn't have those).
Very nice find. How many variants did they have?

The last time I jumped playing a game was Resident Evil, dogs through the window. After that, nope.

The scariest thing in that game was having to deal with 2 green dudes with 5 handgun bullets.
When are our summer of arcade 800 pt refunds coming?

Ahh. I'm just the opposite. I get so immersed that I don't even notice the outside world when I'm playing. I just kinda zone. Same deal with books.

Got the platinum in Batman, I think it took longer to complete the challenge rooms than to play through the game again on hard. For those wondering, the only differences on hard are that you take more damage, and the enemies don't get the little spider(bat?)-sense things above their heads before they attack.

I just played through on hard to begin with (I had maybe gotten through Scarecrow's first encounter on normal and decided to restart on hard).

Most of the time, it's not a problem, but some of the fights get a little annoying with titans and loads of henchmen. I don't know if I can be bothered to get all the achievements, the challenge stuff is a little aggravating. Maybe someday.

Keep plugging away at those combat challenges. At first, it seems like you'll never get close to the third medal, but after awhile, everything just flows and becomes instinctual. I still haven't gotten them all, but I am pretty close.
I had two moments like that in Bioshock. :cold:

I think the scariest moments for me in Dead Space always took place in that open room where you could see the meteors fly by. You knew you were gonna get swarmed but they could attack from anywhere. Plus the sirens and lights flashing didn't help.
I always thought the "outside" areas were the creepiest since there was such a sense of urgency and no sound and everything.
Is the mainstream getting tired of peripherals yet? I sense a TH: Ride and DJ Hero flop (at least I hope as to put Activision in their place again). And Blur is an obvious flop.
Have the impressions of Blur really been that bad? Blue is the mario kart-esque racer from Bizarre correct?

How is there a delivery time for something that is digital? I guess they just need time to do all the administrative stuff for it (like e-rebates).

Does beating Batman on Hard also give you the Trophy for beating it on Normal? I hope so. I'm really enjoying Batman so far, and to be quite honest, the only thing I see stopping me from getting a Platinum is the Combat Challenges and 40x Combo. I seem to lose a combo for doing almost anything that takes more than 1 button press (even R2+Triangle which are supposed to keep your combo going).

That's good. I also really like the music. Although I can't figure out if it's been in any Batman TV series or movie. And if it hasn't, it should be.

My only REAL complaint is the Visor. I'm using it way too much. I'm going to agree with Edge. It's the "Win Visor".

Bizarre's not doing any PR that's worth anything to get exposure for that game. Blogs barley write about it, sites that go to E3, GamesCom, PAX, etc. never talk about it, and they've not put out much, if any, trailers that could at least get gamers talking about it. With Gran Turismo, MotorStorm, Dirt, Need for Speed, and Forza games coming out this fall, it needs exposure to get some recognition amongst these established series that are hitting the consoles and PSP over the next few months.

Abusing the doubletap X dodge roll might help you out. You're pretty much invulnerable doing it, and it'll only break the combo if you use it without jumping over an enemy twice in a row.

Buy the critical strike upgrade. Then it makes a 40x combo a 20x combo if you learn the timing.

I got it while fighting a titan and henchmen exiting the water pump control.

If you plan on ever getting all the combat challenges done and scoring well enough to get a gold (for the other challenges), you're going to be able to get a 40x combo, no problem.

Don't forget to use the batclaw/batarang to extend combos. Dodge roll away from the group and use the claw to pull 3 of them in, then do the quick batarang. You'll get 3 enemies stunned on the ground, and usually enough time to do the ground takedown (R2+Triangle) on 2 of them before another enemy comes in to attack.

I got lucky on my 40x combo, I hadn't gotten into the combat upgrades at that point. I guess I just had a good sized group fairly well spread out.

Almost had a heart attack.

Turned on my PS3 and it said something about the HDD needing to be restored.

I did it and luckily lost nothing. Freaked me out though.

That's its way of dealing with data corruption of some kind, though it may do it as a preventative maintenance measure as well. Not entirely sure; at any rate, it's nothing to worry about.

Clearing up the loose ends on my Batman achievements lately... Cleared all riddles from the general Arkham areas and got the rest of the combat achievements (minus the medals). Almost down to only needing challenge achievements for 100%. I fucking love this game. :)

I played the Batman demo and I don't think the controls are anywhere near as floaty as the Prince of Persia series; the controls seemed fine to me. I liked the demo.

Been playing my PSP, haven't touched it in a long time.

Man, Crisis Core looks awesome, I forgot how great 3D games can look on PSP.
But if this game weren't set in the FF7 universe, I'd stop playing, I can't stand real time fighting in RPG-ish games. Other than one Tales game in the past, I just hate it.

Turn-based and it would have been perfect.
Dissidia demo was kinda dumb too.

I'm actually the opposite with RPGs these days. Can't stand turn based games anymore, and will only play ones with real time combat.

I've got to be missing some upgrade or item in Batman. I cannot figure out how to
Explode walls with no platforms to stand on next to them.

You have to use the upgraded batclaw

Man. I just updated my PS3 to 3.0 (to watch a Blu-Ray).

It's godawful. I always liked XMB's simple elegance and now it just looks like gay garbage.

Nooooooooooooooooo! I've said it before many times before: I thought the XMB was perfect and I want Microsoft to copy it for the 360.

But, but it sparkles now...

And that scrolling ad in the upper right corner sucks ass too.

I do really like the dynamic themes though and want to see how advanced they can get in the future. (Afrika with -3 brightness is perfect)
I thought animated themes would just be a 'video' type thing running in the background, and surprised they can make them interactive to an extent and are real programs running with polygons, effects, etc.

They just need to give the option to scale back the size of the icons to their original resolution, and turn off the ticker. Oh and the stupid gray boxes on the friends list should gone.

Meh, PS3 3.0 is alright. I like animated themes.

For example, I eagerly await the inevitable animated bikini girl theme.
