so far that seems to be what everyone is leaning to, but sounds like it'll get dethroned by uncharted...

If Mass Effect 2 was releasing this year, i can easily say that'd prob be my GotY
Oh fuck yea. Uncharted 2 is friggen fantastic, but Mass Effect is on a league of its own. Cannot wait.

Lorne Lanning just confirmed that Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee and Stranger's Wrath will both be coming to PC this year, via digital distribution, available in a package of all four games called "The Oddbox":
http://bitmob.com/index.php/mobfeed/oddworld-inhabitants-interview-with-lorne-lanning.html

He first mentioned the possibility of PC ports of Munch and Stranger about a year ago, but I didn't think that it would actually happen. This is fuckin' AWESOME. Even though these will surely be straight ports, graphically, they should look really great at higher resolutions, especially Stranger. The only significant additions I could hope for would be proper widescreen support, and for the FMV to be remastered in HD.

I've been playing some more Bowser's Inside Story, and I just got past the first major boss fight. Characters are Lv.13-14 right now. I've enjoyed it so far, but not as much as I had hoped. It might be the mini collect-a-thon side-quest because I don't know if
Killing an enemy with a Blitty means I'm screwed or not, so I'm forced to Vortex every fight I enter.

For some reason I also popped back in Ninja Gaiden Sigma after about 2 years. I had some problems at the end of Chapter 7 (Which is where I started) because of the boss. I had to get the pattern down and deal with the horrid camera in that angle. Beat that, and played more of the next Mission which had Rachel in it. I don't get the hate for Rachel in that game. She's really easy to play as, and it's a bit more methodical. It also helps that she OHKO's every human enemy if you know what to do.

Chapter 7? Isn't that Alma? That would explain your being stuck -- she was supposed to be the major reason everyone quit playing NG/NG:B. I must say, if you know what to do with the dual katanas, she's not really that hard. Thank you Sigma. :)
It's a fun game, but you might not understand the meatier parts of the story.
I don't remember any meaty parts to the story of CC. I remember Genesis reading nonsense out of a book constantly, and the story rarely making any sense.

Dammit guys, now I'll have to pick up Batman: AA in this B2G1.
Dammit guys, now I'll have to pick up Batman: AA in this B2G1.
Smart move. I'd say I have about enough total time in the game on 360 to equate to about 2 playthroughs (strange shit happened, where I decided to restart on hard, then my save got corrupted about 50% through, and I immediately started again and played through 100% of the story and the predator challenges)... and I'm waiting for the price to drop on the PS3 version so I can pick it up and play through again.
No one seems to ever mention PS3's Joker challenge rooms, or whatever they were called. Were they not that good?
Depends -- I don't think the challenge rooms appeal to normal players -- hell, i only got into them because I wanted some of the extra achievements. However, once I started playing them, they've were fun... (stealth/predator) I couldn't bring myself to play the combat ones for achievements, because while I love the combat in the game, I'd be driven to go for golds on them all, which requires near to absolute perfection. There's a ton of free content as far as DLC goes on the PS3 -- I think they only had that one release on 360.

I liked Batman:AA but after I finished it I can't really be bothered going back and collecting stuff or doing the challange rooms. I think the last 2 boss fights in the game ruined it a bit, really hammered home the feeling that there wasn't much variety there.

I really enjoyed playing through it but I have little reason to go back to it.

I'm super pumped for Mass Effect 2, but bioware really is going out of its way to make it look sorta bad. This is almost as bad as the "new shit" Dragon Age trailer

Tell me after watching that you're not at least a little less excited for that game. I hope you can tell her to piss off/blow her head off and never see her again. Ugh.

also on pre-emptive goty talk..

So far probably Resident Evil 5. I played through it 3 times with my roomate and I haven't had so much fun with a game in a long time. But Batman comes close, but I sold batman pretty quickly too. Prototype is a contender, but I know it's not a "good" game, just one I had a lot of fun with. I haven't played enough Bowser's inside story, but it seems really good.

STALKER:Call of Pripyat/Uncharted 2/Brutal Legend/Modern Warfare 2 could change that though. But I think RE5 is the game I had the most fun with this year. Great game. Oh, also L4D2 isn't out yet.

My GOTY will undoubtedly be MW2. Followed closely by Batman:AA.
The Xplorer RB strat is terrible, if I want to feel like I'm holding a Fischer Price toy I'd buy one.
Fixed (from my point of view. ;) )

--

While I can see your point, I have to disagree -- while the xplorer took some getting used to (the buttons are closer than on the les paul), that actually is a positive for me, as I can stretch my pinky on an xplorer for orange notes, where on a les paul i have to slide. While I like the wireless of the les paul, the horrid neck design leading to dropped notes/non-functioning buttons wasn't worth the convenience.

I still fail to see any problem with the Strat, it's a good size and the button layout is much preferable to the separated buttons of the old days imo.

I got the bayonetta demo this mornin, I thought I'd like it, but it turns out I really, really like it.

The PS3 version is a no go though. The framerate's got some problems, and the lighting just kinda feels dull.

Does it really stutter that much?

The xplorer may look like a fisher price guitar, but the strat *feels* like one to me. Something about the buttons is just unbelievably uncomfortable to use, I hate the strum bar, and star power refuses to work right, in any one I've ever used. :|

Bayonetta's got sharp knees on the PS3.

If people selected their potential mates the way people piss about the nuanced differences between PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the same title, humanity would cease to exist in a decade.

rly? I had little to no drops on mine....I found it kinda boring though. I LOLed at collecting rings

A lot of people have been making a big deal out of this. Honestly I don't care, and it hasn't affected how much I want the game. I don't like the character, but I just won't use her. If it's anything like the first game I can just leave her on the ship, and no have anything to do with her other than a couple small sections.

True, but the fact does remain that it's better on the 360.
Really ?

Hope not, I was gonna get a slim next year.
I was just picking on tiredfornow, benjamouth.

I wonder if larger hard drive size has anything to do with it. I have noticed that as my 120gb 360 drive fills up, it gets slower (makes sense)... same could conceivably apply to tiredfornow vs. refusedchaos experiences if they are on different ps3 models.
PS3 Slim is the best thing to happen to me this year, benjamouth.
High praise indeed, I think it'll be a good time to get one, when GT5 is out etc

Ahhh ok.

I'm liking NBA 2K10, but the MyPlayer draft part seems needlessly difficult.

Also the Locker game storage system that's part of the Anniversary Edition is pretty cool. Almost wish it could hold more games, as 20 doesn't seem like enough.

What's up with the camera in Bayonetta? It moves so slowly when you're trying to rotate it. Other than that, it was okay. Pretty much a DMC clone, which I wasn't interested in when DMC4 came out last year.

But she's so SEXY!!!!

But yeah. It's a DMC game basically.
Since I stopped playing them after the first one, I'm looking forword to this game.
The style and soundtrack are most impressive to me.
And yeah, camera speed needs an option to speed it up unless I missed it in the Japanese menus.

Tower Knight boss was crazy in Demons Souls. I wasn't expecting that.
