Genesis 3 + imports question?

I remember reading something about it along time ago...... but ..... Does anyone know if the Gen 3 can play megadrive games without any kind of modification (specifically Golden Axe 3). I think I remember reading that the cartridge slot was wide enough to allow the use of MD carts without any modifications..... Thanks!

You should be able to play all MD games w/ a model 3 Genesis. I have a couple of Japanese games and they play on my GEN-3 w/o any problems.

I believe games from all regions will fit in a Genny 3, but later games that had lockout chips won't work.

I own GA3, and it's got the lockout code in it. Anything made from about 92-93 on cannot be played on another territory's system. And be careful when buying pass-through converters: Most of these only act as a bridge (to get around the cartridge slot shape), and do not defeat the territorial lockout. It's honestly a lot easier to find a Japanese MegaDrive system.
