Lil’ Bush Gets Premiere Date
Monday, May 21, 2007
By: Ryan Ball
Comedy Central will debut Lil' Bush, its newest animated series, on Wednesday, June 13.
Rock icon Iggy Pop has signed on to voice the role of Lil' Rummy in the show, which chronicles the early days of the president and such pals as Lil' Condi, Lil' Cheney and Lil' Jeb. Based on a series of shorts that developed a cult following on Amp'd Mobile, the show will premiere in the 10:30-11 p.m. slot.
This season on the show, Lil' Bush and Tony Blair become cheerleaders, the Lil' gang unleashes weapons of mass destruction and Lil' Bush makes a statement with his Aquaman underpants while facing off against Lil' Kim Jong Il on the playground. Other misadventures will include a panty raid against an Al Qaeda Training Camp and an attempt to convince the world that global warming is cool.
Best known as the front man of Iggy & the Stooges, Iggy Pop will play young Donald Rumsfeldt as a classic schoolyard bully with a few charming psychopathic quirks. He will be joined in later episodes by guest voices from the music world including Dave Grohl from the Foo Fighters, Frank Black from the Pixies, Jeff Tweedy from Wilco and the Red Hot Chili Peppers as themselves.
Lil' Bush is created and exec produced by Donick Cary, whose previous credits include The Simpsons and The Late Show with David Letterman. Jay Karas is Cary’s co-exec producer, and Amp'd Mobile’s Seth Cummings and Peter Adderton also serve as exec producers. Zoe Friedman and David Koga are the execs in charge of production at Comedy Central. Each half-hour installment of the show will be comprised of two shorts, each ten and a half minutes long.
