Get Brutal Legend or NFS Shift for 19.99 at Gamestop after 2 eligible trade-ins.

This would be tempting.. since FIFA 09 is about to drop most of it's value and I'll be getting 10, but neither of these games are appealing.

kinda sad how somehow thats a deal.

they sell it for 49.99 - 54.99 x 2 and you still have to pay 20 bucks.

Can you say in the butt?

hey does this deal go through nov 10th if so i would trade cod4 and waw for brutal legend i would be to busy playing mw 2 to play them anymore anyway

no it doesn't go through the 10th. i'm gonna do this on my way home. was gonna trade in halo 3 anyway since i have odst for multiplayer. might as well trade in tales of vesperia

I guess they learned their lesson from the Fight Night trade-in deal when their shelves immediately became overloaded with copies of Monsters vs. Aliens still warm from the lights that hang over the Target clearance endcaps. . .

Nice try GS, but CAGs are too smart for ya!

The funny thing about this promo is that the in-store copies of this flyer actually have Need for Speed Shift as one of the games that you can trade in...So you can trade-in Need for Speed Shift + another game + $20 to get a new (most likely gutted) copy of Need for Speed Shift, the game that you just traded in. I was laughing about this with a few of my local GS employees.

Are Rock Band 2 and Halo 3 still free after rebate (or close to it) at FYE? That was true a few weeks ago but I'm not sure those rebates are still active. If they are valid and you can find an FYE that still has copies of those games you could get Brutal Legend for close to $20 (after FYE rebates).

I guess Gamestop learned their lesson after the FNR4 deal, huh? Of course, it helped that Blockbuster had a BOGO going on at the time and I had a copy of Folklore from Sears that I paid $10 for that I didn't care if I got rid of.

I just got done using up most of the credit I got from that deal after returning FNR4 with a gift receipt a half hour after I 'bought' it from another GS just up the road from the one I returned it to.

Mind ya, my one buddy did that 'deal' like 2-3 times and was able to find cashiers stupid enough to give him CASH back.

I want Brutal Legend and have DW 6 for $10 and L4D $12.48, but I still won't bite. I'll wait to buy for $40 or less straight up.

LOL to me this is to little to late, I already enjoyed the good TIV at TRU on the games in that list, and got ODST and getting Brutal Legend no additional cost..... and NFS: Shift, I managed to get my hands on a copy for 16$ after BB sale and gift cards, and shift almost not worth it, I like Grid much MUCH better, been thinking on ebaying shift while it stills get a premium...looks like ebay easily gets you 35~40 easy for shift
Shift is $40 at Best Buy
No its not.

This deal sucks too, they'll take Halo 3 but not Gears of War 2 or Resident Evil 5 for 360. Half the games on the list have a TIV of $20 and up anyway.

These 'DEALS' are geared towards the main stream consumer - not really CAGs I suppose...Have to agree with everyone on this. GameStop is ripping you off here - see two of these games on ebay and get 60 bucks...RE5 and KZ2 would give you that easy...

Got NFS for 30 bucks last week, it was 40 at BB last week and I had a 10 dollar reward certificate.

Listen, I trade in games to GS, but only when theres a promo + edge card that makes it comparable to ebay. Like this week, I traded in batman arkham asylum. TIV was 25 but I had a 30% coupon plus edge so I got 35 bones for it. Better than the hassle of ebay selling it for 44 then ebay and paypal fees

I have a few titles on that PS3 list, but only want to trade in inFamous. Might just use the added 30% trade in coupon.

According to the Toys R'Us game trade-in website TIV thing, Batman: Arkham Asylum gets $35.45 without having to do any stinkin' promos at Gamestop.

Of course, just 2 weeks ago it was getting $43 and change without a promo there, but I procrastinated since I decided to keep my copy till I'm done with the challenge maps.
Just a quick heads up to anyone who's thinking about getting Dynasty Warriors 6 at Target for under $10. First off, I'm just going on what someone else said earlier about the price but second, theres a Dynasty Warriors 6 and a Dynasty Warriors 6: Empires. Empires is new, i think, so make sure that you're buying Dynasty Warriors 6: Empires if it as at all on sale. In other news, this deal sucks my balls.
I checked again today, it is DW6: Empires for 10 bucks.

wow...a shame I cant trade in a lvl 80 druid from an account I'll never touch again. wtf kinda promo is this? words fail me...I'd rather just get store credit.

Most games it would seem have a higher TIV at TRU. But at the same TRU hasn't run any kind of trade-in promotions, yet, I believe, so that's all you're getting. Plus, each store has it's advantages and disadvantages in terms of what they sell and the deals they have, so it comes down to what credit you'll most likely get the best use of.

I don't think anybody wants either of these games that badly to trade in two $40-$60 games and still have to pay $20. Stupidest promotion ever! Thumbs down.

P.S. I'm sure that Brutal Legend will be great since it's from the same guys that made Psychonauts... but come on Gamestop.

While it is true that GS has promos, their TIV for Batman is already down to $25 or under, I think. So even with a 30% promo and stacking 10% Edge, you're coming up about even then, but TRU's values are without having to rely on a stupid promo to get more.

GS has a promo almost all the time. Plus, EDGE is a constant. We understand you hate GS with a passion, Cheapest, but not everything they do is stupid or dumb or lame. Sometimes, it just is what it is. And again, it all depends on what credit is worth more to you. Personally, I buy almost no games from TRU, because the electronics department at the store near me is a mess. Nothing ever comes in on-time. No one knows anything. You often have to wait 5+ minutes standing at the register, because the lone employee on the clock has disappeared into the back to fiddle with him/her self.

Agreed that TRU sux my chocolate salty balls but so does GS for many reason but one sticks out, the lone employee or two that fiddle with themselves in the back room who then comes out and acts like a GOD of the store but in reality it's just some middle aged nerd who still lives in his mom's basement.....oh and plus they fight with me over penny guides even tho they were on the shelves...oy and don't forget they're terrible TIV and even prices for a new game are a whole 5 bucks less then the MSRP....and oh, dang i could keep going and going and going....

I'd never trade in my Batman (of course I've got the LE) but I would trade my Wolfenstein, Call of Juarez: BOB, and my ODST. I'd rather trade them in at Amazon though.

If you trade those in to Amazon, there's a decent chance they're being resealed and sold as new by pieceofmind/NorAm. Just on principle alone, I refuse to trade in to Amazon because of that. The company doing the TRU trade-ins has been accused of doing the same thing.

With the current trade-in promo, I was able to buy an XBox 360 with games from a guy on Craigslist, trade in the games for nearly the price I paid for the system and games (most sell online for less than the trade in value I received), and trade in a number of games I picked up during the last B2G1 deal at nearly the cost I paid for them. Not a bad deal at all. Perfect opportunity to unload older games that we all should have picked up on the cheap.

For those of you wondering why Gamestop is offering a less than stellar deal for Brutal Legend and Shift, I present the following:

wow the list is becoming smaller and smaller when gamestop is giving these deals, good thing I ended up with about $300 extra from the fight night trade in promo

It's extremely unlikely that I'll be getting either game, so this "deal" isn't much of a loss to me, but hopefully better offers will be coming in the future.

Like GameStop doesn't go around and sell us games that are clearly opened and even played by their staff as "new" with their sticky sticker sealing it.

I once saw GS club a baby seal while NorAm went and skull-fucked the seal while unconscious... TRU just sat there crying and watched the whole thing.

There haven't been many reports of Gamestop turning your trade-ins into new games - this sort of practice, however, is pieceofmind/NorAm's and the TRU trade-in company's MO. I also never defended Gamestop's new games policy (which I don't agree with, for what it's worth).
So can you trade in 2 copies of the same game(Halo 3)and get this deal?
I'm guessing it's most likely you can. More than one Gamestop their policy is no more than 3 of one game. 2 should be fine.
Like GameStop doesn't go around and sell us games that are clearly opened and even played by their staff as "new" with their sticky sticker sealing it.
Thing is, no one has ever accused GS of selling traded-in games as new. Also, and here's the bigger issue, GS does not re-seal games and pass them off as factory-sealed. That is what some of these other companies are doing. A lot of people on sites like ours are onto their nonsense, but there are plenty of folks who have no clue and are getting taken advantage of.
I don't know why these trade-in deals are posted here. They are not anywhere near a good deal
If something can help just one or two CAGs, it should be posted and will be posted. Someone might be able to flip something from Target, or they might just be stuck with two of the older games on that list.

stupid question , since this usually doesn't apply for any of GS's promos , but the games to trade in for this deal don't have to be complete do they? They could be disk only copies?
stupid question , since this usually doesn't apply for any of GS's promos , but the games to trade in for this deal don't have to be complete do they? They could be disk only copies?
YMMV. There is no official GS policy against disc-only copies. Some stores and/or employees try to sneak refurb fees in such trade-ins.

This is why I refuse to deal with gamestop. I took a quick glance at the list and saw NBA Live 10, NBA 2k10 and Batman AA on it. If the trade in happened to be trade in NBA 2k10 and get Brutal Legend for 20 that is more acceptable.

I got a copy of Fifa 09 which will be obsolete in a couple weeks and I picked up Skate 2 for $12 at a mom and pop used media place earlier this summer. Been thinking about picking up Brutal Legend if I could find a deal or wait out till the sales, so not a bad deal for me.

LOL Oh no. He's one of the' people who can't wait more than 10 nanoseconds before being all outraged at the long time they have to wait to be waited on.

"ZOMG I've been waiting here at this register for exactly THREE AND A HALF SECONDS. Where are the employees who should've been waiting on me hand and foot the second I stepped through the door of the store!?!?!?!?! Imma blog about this when I get home and get some other impatient people to agree with me and it'll do nothing to help the situation but it'll make me feel better."

You must really hate when/if you have to go to Kmart to shop, since it takes ALOT more than five minutes to get waited on there.

Seriously, people who expect the staff to be right there and be mind readers and have nothing else to do than be your personal slave while you make up your impatient mind need to stick to web shopping and stop going into B&M stores altogether.

Why not save the shopping trips till a time when you have MORE time, rather than expect the employees to magically appear 10 milliseconds after you step into their department?

I traded some games in yesterday, one of them being Fallout 3 toward Brutal Legend, and I didn't know bout the deal. I was wanting to unload Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 toward this as well, any chance I can go back and get the promo today??

I would say yes, and if the manager is there tell them you were not told of the promo. That should definately do it for you.

I am really considering shelling out my halo wars and halo 3 on this promotion. do not play them as much. at the end of the day will it be worth getting brutal legend. the demo was entertaining for a few minutes.

As for the folks that complain about retail wait times, you have never worked retail.
Far from the truth. Last time I was in a gamestop was in Early August. My friend was in there trading in a couple of games. He had 2 customers ahead of him, one of them was trading in games. The store had 3 employees, one was working the register, one was on the phone and the other was doing nothing. My friend waited on that line for a good 20 minutes until it was his turn.
As for the folks that complain about retail wait times, you have never worked retail.
And you're basing that on what exactly? Oh, wait, that nonexistent second sentence you typed to back up your statement explains everything.

Post of the century.

Anyone know if Brutal Legend will actually be very good? I played the demo, and found it entertaining. Even though I dont necessarily like Jack Black's schtick, he plays the character well. The problem I had with the demo was it seemed far from finished. The controls and graphics werent all that great IMO. I am still on the fence on this game and cant wait to get some full reviews. Hopefully in time for the TRU B2G1 free promo.

Your entire retarded rant, in which you babbled on for multiple paragraphs about one sentence I wrote, is really funny to anyone who visits this board a lot, because about the only thing you ever do around here is complain about retail employees. You rarely post deals, give out information, help anyone, or anything that would be construed as useful. You just complain. A lot. All the time. About everything.

I run the guide thread and update it regularly. I posted about several potentially new drops for Target the other night(GTA IV for 360, Red Faction: Guerrilla for PS3).

More importantly, I've traded with over 50 people since I joined CAG and have helped out the community by buying and shipping games/guides many times for cost.

So before you open your piehole and decide to attack me, take the time to look at what I've done on this site. While I may be critical about employees and certain chains(especially Gamestop), I see many other people with the same complaints as mine. So, why aren't you attacking them as well?

As for why I remarked about your post, I just found that one line particularly hilarious. There are far too many impatient/lazy people on CAG nowadays who expect to be waited on the millisecond they go into a store. If you're that short on time/impatient, go pay MSRP and get off of CAG.

Here's a suggestion.

Keep thing civil and peaceful. There's nothing wrong with disagreement, though childish namecalling and other foolishness, we're not having anything with that.
