11/18 Update, if you haven't read the original post, you need a free CVS Extra Care card and have the $5 off 2 Duracell battery coupons found on a tearpad at CVS (YMMV on if you store will have it or not as some never got them and people on SD are taking entire tear pads at once).
This week CVS has a deal where if you buy $20 in Duracell batteries, you get $15 back in Extra Care Bucks. What I did is do 2 transactions initially to get the Extra Care bucks. In each transaction, I bought 2 $5.99 packs of 8 AA or AAA batteries. After the $5 off coupon from the tearpad it is $7.40 a transcation. With 2 transactions, my total cost is $14.80 and I get $15 back in Extra Care bucks. I then used the $15 in Extra Care Bucks and another $5 coupon to purchase 2 $9.99 packs of batteries. I also bought a $0.09 trick or treat bag as a filler. My total was $0.08, and another $15 in Extra Care Bucks printed, replacing the ones I just used. Since you can do the deal 3 times, I am going to do the same thing again to roll the Extra Care bucks. It isn't free anymore but if you consider Extra Care Bucks like cash, you are still being paid to take the batteries.
The end result will be for a little under $15, I am getting 4 8 packs of batteries, 4 16 packs of batteries and $15 in Extra Care bucks
If you do want completely free batteries, next week 4 pack AA and AAA batteries are $2.99 a pack. If you use the $5 off coupon and can find the ones with 50 cents off peel off coupons, it would make them free since you are spending $5.98 and getting $6 off but I would suggest a small filler since I don't know if you can have a negative balance or not.

This week CVS had Duracell PowerPix 4 Pack AA and AAA Batteries for $2.99. You need a CVS card for this deal to work.

On the battery display there was a tearpad of coupons for $5 off any 2 packs of Duracell batteries (excluding the ones that only have 2 in a package).
On the AA packages there was a coupon you peel for for $1.00 off the batteries.
I bought 2 packs of AA's, for $5.98, used the $5.00 off coupon to bring it down to $0.98 then used the 2 $1 off coupons to get to a total of negative $0.98. I bought some candy to make up the difference.
It gets better though. If you spend $15 on Duracell batteries, you get $5 in Extra Care Bucks. I did 3 transactions to get to the $15.
The end result was I spent $3.xx out of pocket and got 6 packs of batteries (regularly $36 total), $6 worth of candy and $5.00 in Extra Care Bucks (bascially like a CVS gift card).
