Well i must say that some of that stuff seems rather odd choices from a price perspective, The sony dual layer dvdrw drive will run anywhere from 79 to 100 depending on store and with the cash that you would spend on one of those drives, you could get two nec 3520a that now retail for 38 each. The trinity case is a decent case but why not find one without the power supply since you are also pricing the modular xconnect ps. Also with the ram, you might want to look into specific brands as all ram is not created equal. The corsair xms series is nice as is the ram that i run, the OCZ pc3200 platinum revision 2. If you are looking at building a monster machine, the ram timings should be nice and tight. The XMS and the OCZ plat rev 2 are 2-2-2-5 which screams.

I would also not get the asus board because it has some compatibility issues with ram. I went with the MSI k8n Neo 2 which is roughly 120 bucks. the MSI board is able to run the OCZ ram at the default low timings.

the nvidia 7800 is like 530 bucks
which is a crazy lot to spend on a single component.

I would also say that if you are going to spend the money you might as well get one of the FX series AMD chips, or even the 4000 (heck maybe even a dual core processor, why not?)

And lastly, i would recommend against the ultra ata hard drive as the serial ata drives are so very much faster.

after looking over my post, i guess i didnt help at all.....

Who has/is about to spend THAT kind of money on PC parts and has NO clue as to their cost? If you want to price shop try

www.pricegrabber.com

Find some good deals on

www.fatwallet.com

Id bet dollars to donuts you arent REALLY considering buying all this stuff because if you were you would know a whole lot more than you seem to (by your odd combinations and choices) Id love to be proven wrong but this looks more like somebody building the computer of their dreams on paper or in their head than somebody gathering info to make smart buying decisions.

Thank thealternakid , you did helped me a lot.

Basically, i am trying to get a computer that should will still be powerful after 2 or maybe 3 years later. But on the other hand i don't have enough computer knowledge to build one myself.
Therefore, i am paying someone to build one for me and i am asking about the pricing of these items because i just want to know how much are these items SHOULD cost.

I paid for it already but i didn't want to say the amount here because i didn't want to get some posts about how i got fuck over.

well i would run a guess of 2700 roughly, if i could i would charge that much to put it together

if you think about it

trinity case roughly 80$
CoolerMaster Musketeer-2 System Dynamics Detector 15$
Cold cathode light 10$
Xconnect 500w (list at 90) but they were recently on sale for 40$
AMD athlon 64 3500 258$
Asus board 99$
If the ram was cheap then 100 if not 180 tops
nvidia 7800 597$
Western Digital 160gb 67$
sony dvd drive (without knowing the model) 40$
(Suprise) sony dvd burner 16x yadda yadda 44$
Soundblaster AUdigy 2 zs 61$
for a total of 1541

No, not really. THEORETICALLY, yes. And maybe if he was running Raptors. But SATA hasn't come close to achieving its 150MB theoretical output.

The real problem is you've got a WD (poor) with a 2MB cache (terrible). Get at least a Seagate (best) with an 8MB cache (good). But for that computer, no reason not to get a Raptor, maybe even two.

And you better get a good power supply or that will be a $2000 piece of junk.

Fortran, Enermax, Antec. The case is going to suck too. Get a Lian-Li or something aluminum. You want to keep that thing cool.
