I've been flipping to TRU for a while because their base tiv's are usually good and the values have more longevity than gs'. Anyway, I never had any problems until yesterday when I went to trade in a copy of Brutal Legend. I was told it was on the "do not accept list". Anybody else ever have this problem?

I have taken Brutal Legend in each day for the past 3 weeks and it is always on their do not accept list. I asked what they do accept and they said that they said they were really looking for some extra copies of rock revolution. Good luck getting anyone to give that up, even for the $29.45 they were offering for it.

Actually, come to think of it, I've never had that problem after all. How is them not accepting a trade-in 'getting owned'?

You know what, I hate you for taking advantage of Toys R Us and their trade in values, its even worse than Obama paying money to Haiti and all the money that goes to the Christian church from jews such as myself. Also, the Cowboys suck.

Maybe that particular store took in quite a few copies of BL, so they've stopped taking it in at that store?

It comes up as a $30 TIV on their site(toysrustradeincenter.com), so I would say it's still able to be traded.

Or maybe the OP got an employee who didn't know how to ring up game trades, so they claimed it was not able to be traded in.
I stopped reading at "flipping" because that makes it instantly your fault.
Can you explain further how flipping makes it the fault of the OP? I am curious to read your illogical and most likely hypocritical opinions.
Wow, one of those? Flipping is not the evil practice some CAGs try to make it out to be.
I didn't know getting owned was being denied a trade in on one game. What's the most you lost? $5??Like most, I was getting $30 per all January. If they denied a copy one day they accepted it the next. TRU is paying for my entire Q1 library. :)

Flipping usually entails some A-hole stealing extra copies of discounted games from customers who really wanted them just to make a buck. I can't say I'm sorry for your situation. Not too long ago there was another topic, someone whining that they can't pull much profit by selling new games online. It's about time these hoarders learned to buy a single copy for themselves and leave the rest for others. MAYBE two copies if a sibling or friend wants a copy and you're there already.

It's one thing to shop for deals but I'm so disgusted by the people that do this during a hardware launch.

This. Sometimes playing the market gets you burned. Shit happens.

To me, if the people have the money to buy up all of the copies and no one else has gotten their ass out there to get one(or three) as of yet, then fuck 'em and grab all that you want.

If people WANT these deals, they have to be quicker than the next guy. That's the way it works.:D

I have a hard time sympathizing with you, because most people I see complaining about hoarders usually go overboard with bragging when they actually got off their butt and find a good deal.

Yeah, like at the last major clearance on June 1st last year when Buzz for PS3 went to $9.98 from $59.99, I made sure I was at the store at opening, I was one of the first ones in the store (no one went to the video games besides me anyway) and got the only copy they had which I kept to play. Now if someone had gotten there even 30 minutes later, seen the empty shelf tag they might have blamed a hoarder but in this case it was because the store only had 1 copy to begin with.

Maybe the game would have still be there later in the day but it was important enough for me to make sure I got there early enough to get a copy (I didn't know how many copies they had if any before I got to the store).

Well you know some people have these things called jobs... Or school. If they have to work then it's not right for some underage prick to buy a dozen copies. I'm glad when they get stuck with them or only make half of what they paid. I understand a lot depends on the store stock but unless there are carts full of the same game limit it to 2 copies out of decency. No flipping, no placeholding, no reselling.
I have a hard time sympathizing with you, because most people I see complaining about hoarders usually go overboard with bragging when they actually got off their butt and find a good deal.
That's not me at all. Hoarders ruin it for everyone and even hurt the store through return fraud, leading to less specials. I've never purchased more than 2 copies of a game and even that is rare since my bro doesn't play all the same stuff I do. The ones I see doing the bragging are the jackasses that pilfer 10 copies, not the ones who simply bought what they needed.
Well you know some people have these things called jobs... Or school.
I go to school, and flipping is my only source of income (No, not store flipping, eBay flipping. I don't waste my time with store flipping). I bet I make more money than you do at your shitty day job.

That's not me at all. Hoarders ruin it for everyone and even hurt the store through return fraud, leading to less specials.
You know, I also have morals and will not commit return fraud. Why do you assume I commit return fraud just because I resell stuff. I only help the store by getting rid of their stock.

I don't ruin it for anyone. If I don't buy the game it will get picked up by the other resellers since Tucson is filled with flippers, and they will do the same thing with it that I am going to do.

I'm not going to help out you assholes on CAG though, as you will usually try to offer a price lower than I paid for it...

Well, some of us are unemployed currently, so that affords us the ability to be there at the store opening to get the deals. If the people wanting the deals to play and not flip(a rarity anymore)really and truly want them, then they will make time before or after work or on their lunch breaks to go out and get them.

Otherwise, the early bird catches the worm.

As for people who hoard doing return fraud and ruining it for everyone, there are SOME that do it, but for every ONE of those there are ten who don't and some who help the community by trying to sell the items for cost to those who can't find them.

As for why some flip deal games, it's called lessening their out of pocket cost(aka another method of being a CheapAssGamer). If the credit you're paying for a game with cost you $10 in real cash(games) to make, then you don't really mind buying that $50-60 game with said credit, since in your mind it only cost you the $10 worth of games you flipped.

While it may be true that someone else lost out on getting that game or games due to you buying them up to flip, again if you want the deals you will find a way to get there before everything is gone.

Even in the case of the Sudoku game that was coming up $.00 after coupon at Best Buy. The coupon was still valid at the end of the 2 weeks or so it was out for, yet all you saw were people mentioning on day 12-13 that 'I didn't get any because the employees said someone came in and bought 30 copies'.

Get out there early and there will be no reason to complain about not getting deals due to 'omg hoarders'.

fuck tru though on that note! they were only giving me $15 for Borderlands on PS3 so I went to gs and got $32 instead. by the way, you got rejected..oh well. I guess even if they had accepted the game, you would do what alot of people do and that is stack up credit then buy games like Bioshock 2 which give you a $10 gift card and the cycle keeps going and never ends.

You know it's better to have a job than be a leech. And I doubt your $5 a week is going far.

I don't directly mean you commit return fraud, but I don't put it past people who act like you do. Finally just because someone else equally as stupid does it doesn't make it right. When you finally do get a job then we'll see how you feel about lurkers and flippers.

Like I told the last kid, not having a job doesn't make it acceptable. Most people don't have the luxury of showing up late or getting an hour lunch break. The earliest they can get there is in the evening and by that time you idiots stole 30 copies to line your pockets. Why should those with a job be 'punished' because you're too lazy to find real work? Karma will sort you clowns out.
wow .. it seems like you jumped teams ever since the Fairy tale fight fiasco.. weren't you a anti hoarding advocate?
Actually, my reversal of my opinions on hoarding and taking advantage of sales and glitches started when a buddy of mine bought 4 copies of Rock Revolution and sandwiched two then new release games(Borderlands, Uncharted 2) in between those 4 copies and picked them up for $10 each during the B2G1 glitch at Best Buy.

Besides which, I've been a hoarder before. See any of the old reduced guide threads and you'll see that I used to brag about walking out with 60-100 guides per store many times, with multiples of 10+ on some of them.

Even now on my tradelist, I have 10+ of the Phantom Hourglass hardcover, which I grabbed up from ONE Best Buy.

So, I'm a selective hoarder anymore. Anything that's free or nearly free I'll grab the shit out of if I get a chance.
Are you guys honestly arguing with DPsx7? He's a big troll. Most of his time on CAG is spent posting Sony fanboy rants. Ignore him.
What do you know to make such a comment? I'm not a fan of any certain system but I know enough which ones aren't worth owning. That's not the point though, this is about flippers and hoarders, not your whining. Get lost.

Now, that's not entirely fair- let's look at my schedule for the day... I start at 6 am, I have a 30 minute lunch at 9, and I'm off at 1:30. If Best Buy is having a sale and opens at 10, I cannot possibly get there until 1:40. Is it really appropriate to say you get 10+ copies becuase you 'waited an hour' for people to buy it? I was working! I couldn't even call and put something on hold!

And that's not fair either- have you looked for work lately? There's not much out there. I can't blame anyone for moving some games and getting extra grocery money. Or gaming money, anything to stretch the budget.

In the long run, I don't care that much about flipping one way or another. It would be nice if folks would stick to 2-3 copies on day 1 on the sale (beyond that is open game), but when there's money to be made no one's going to give a fuck about sharing. Besides, it's just a game. I've got a stack to play as it is, I can wait for the next sale or a price drop or whatever.

I am fine with the 10+ hoarding on glitches and things that are nearly free. Odds are, the glitch will be gone quickly or employees will attempt to hide the nearly free game, so people have to grab them when they have the chance. What I don't understand is the hoarding of something that will make about $5 profit on eBay. Why not just buy a cheap game and enjoy it instead of wasting time trying to make a slim profit.

I understand it isn't easy right now but how can we tell if these people are honestly searching and perhaps lost their job only recently, or if they've been a lazy grub for longer? I get the sense if they've resorted to calling this 'income' then the latter is more likely true. People seek ways to abuse the system and all that does is ruin it for the rest of us. This goes for practically anything not just flipping games.

Many have found time to go out on their lunch breaks(ala the usual 'zomg the guy didn't wait on me as I was coming in the door, aka not being telepathic)to grab some of these deals, so it IS possible.

As for waiting on grabbing up multiples of multiples, I HAVE held back on multiples till later in the week(not with guides cuz if you don't grab em all on day one, they're pulled), only to find them still there towards the end of the week.

So, if anyone wanted them, they had their chance by then to grab them. Then it's fair game.

I guess I'm an asshole then, but the last thing I am is a thief. Want a game? Get off your fat ass and go get it. Go to bed early for once and get up in the morning so you can get in on a deal. I go to school M-F at 9:45 and when I get out at 2-3 PM there are always games available at my local stores. If no one's picked them up by then and I can flip them, I'll buy them all.

And I'll agree with you on the "It's not fair" part, but guess what? Life isn't fair. Get over it. I've missed out on deals tons of times because I was too late and all of CAG bought out Amazon or something and I never cried about it.

I've never committed return fraud once yet. Hell, I've even taken a $17 loss on a game just to avoid committing return fraud.

As for the rest of your second paragraph, please refer to the pictures at the end of my post.

I go to school every morning and I usually have to open my store on weekends, but I still manage to get in on deals and hoard the shit out of a lot of games. Why can't you? To me, it just sounds like you're one of those lazy pricks who waits 1-2 weeks to get in on a deal and once you find out you missed it, you blame hoarders.

And for your entertainment... Please remember to multiply what you see in the pictures by 2. That's how many I've sold, and made money off of, so far. And don't worry, there's a lot more, but I won't picture the other things that I have ;).

LOL. i ended up with one extra of mass effect collector's edition because i didnt want to wait for my amazon order to show up. and yeah, i will dump it on ebay.

i was all set to argue with you, but really, if you did not pre order, you dont get to bitch about limited edition items, whether its LE games, or new release systems.

i guess they are still arguing about flipping games. it started off about some dude buying copies of a game and trying to trade them in to TRU, but they didnt take them so he couldnt trade then in. doesnt really seem like he got owned that badly, because he can always sell or trade them elsewhere, but for not as much $$$

It went from one guy trying to trade in a game to a troll call all flippers thieves, because we're stealing the games from the people who want to get in on the deal, amongst other things. To put it all in a nutshell, he was trying to call all of us flippers pieces of shit.
