Hey...does anyone know anything about pawnshops? Like, they keep records of people who sold them stuff, correct?
My sitch: A bunch of my shit went missing, including some games. I checked around a few gamestops, but they were no help. A friend ratted out what I suspected: A neighbor was stealing small shit from me (but that also includes Pixie's Debit card and a 30" television from my basement), but I had no proof.
What I'm thinking is I can check with the three local pawnshops (since I know who did it) and have them check the name and my list of items. (I made a custom graphic for my WiiSports and put it in a DVD case; I suspect having that file would be proof enough...but who'd steal WiiSports in the first place?)
This has been going on over the past four weeks, and I never called the police because, well, it felt silly that games were taken from my living room, but none of the systems were touched. I'm thinking if I can find the pawn shop and prove that he sold the things there, I can then file charges if needed, but I really just want my stuff back. But, I'm not sure if the pawn shops will even confirm or deny the info.
that sucks! there's supposed to be some sort of records, but i'm not sure what they are. i do know that if you file a police report that they can contact the pawn shops. my mom had some jewelry stolen by one of her ex boyfriends and the police were able to check with all pawn shops within X number of miles. not exactly sure how that works but i do know that was the gist of it.
Frosty, no I haven't, sorry.
I have a bunch of shit to ship to various people in NY, but I just haven't gotten around to it. Actually, it boils down to I just keep forgetting to grab it before I leave for work.
boo! you're ruining coxmas!
