GGT 224 just realized that life is one big circle jerk with QTEs and grinding

... wherein shit gets real.

Thanks for the detail, that helps. I think you've got a map for 3 solid cities, maybe a fourth. The lack of CSs is still a big strike against, and dipshit neighbors don't help either. No jungles for bonus science, but maybe getting GBR early makes up for it (yeah, it probably does).

I guess I could be convinced to go either way on this...

If you're going to play out the save...I think you know what to expect: war in Akkad. I don't know how they are at Emperor, but I'm almost certain Boudicca will expand into Akkad's sphere of influence. Theo I'm not so sure of, in all the games I've played with her as a neighbor, she's expanded away from me.

(Do you know if Theo's on a coast? That might be something to keep tabs on: I know Byzantine gets those early ranged UU boats. I've never really encountered her when I've played Islands. Anyhow, she could take the fun out of the GBRs if she rolls up on you with those ships.)

If you're going to restart the save...build on what you know about the map and move the Akkad settlement up to go for the Petra. It might be a fun, bold move, it doesn't take you off your tech path, and it livens things up with Theo. It'll definitely be a way of establishing the frontlines with Theo, and you can just let Boudicca do what she do, she'll be a non-factor. It also groups your civ more nicely, which makes defense a lot easier.

I could go either way, but I still lean to reroll, just because goddamit. That's not fair taking the CSs out of things. I like having them around, they're my pals.

EDIT: Just saw your latest screen grab. Boudicca's going for Theo. It's going to fuck with your diplomacy, because it makes DOFs contentious from here on out. Also note a point against the kinda-isolation mode, which is that you want Research Agreements if at a possible. Here, even though you've got neighbors, because they hate the shit out of each other, you'll have a tough time doing better than one DOF and active Res. Agreement. The Petra city would've been more interesting with Boudicca and Theo slugging it out.
Child custody case scenarios really can be a pain. Decided to get an assignment out of the way so I can have the rest of week worry-free. ^^

Bioshock Infinite ETA two weeks. So. Stoked.

So some guy decided to combine Jay-Z with the Chrono Trigger OST. I give you Chrono Jigga.

http://2mellomakes.bandcamp.com/album/chrono-jigga
This month has way too many games coming out...we had Tomb Raider, there's God of War and Gears....Bioshock...Monster Hunter...got Castlevania and Luigis on 3DS, just way too many.

Boudica rerouted all her troops to surround Babylon, then Theodora DOWed me. Panicked and threw a bunch of salt and money at Boudica to reroute her troops towards the Byzantines. Running headlong into Astronomy for Rationalism and an Observatory in my capital.

Also, I don't have a free amphitheatre from Tradition, which... that ain't right. Right?

Oh shit. Gangbanged!

If it had been only one of them and you had Walls, you could've let them wail on you. I saw you had at least one composite bow, it didn't look like the Celts were bringing anything too tough.

But both is a different matter. That's so Theo, though, to let Boudicca be the lead. I dig Theo's style, she's all class. And she's got great hair.
I'm micless right now, but down to play if you guys want another.

Ikinc
I sent you a FR and if you hop on you can join us, mang.

That salt and money got the Celts firmly on my side for the time being. Me and Boudica are crushing Theodora's army right now, I'm getting walls, pikes, and composite bows out, and I popped a golden age thanks to my Hanging Gardens-made artist.

EDIT: Boudica's fielding a couple Picts, but the rest of her army is garbage. Theodora at least has catapults, but the rest of her army is pretty lame so far.

Boudica's army has decided to mass embark to fucking nowhere, so I might not have her to do the damage. Got Theodora's general, though, and I've got catapults rolling out pretty quickly.

EDIT: Cataphracts, motherfuckers!

You got the taste of blood and you thirst for more. The Celts got to you.

It's a Babylonian war machine from here on out.

Whelp, I took Constantinople. And accidentally genocided the Eastern Roman Empire.

EDIT: Picked up a Great General right at the end, there. Also, I have astronomy and the first point of Rationalism, though this new city has temporarly knocked me down to -2 happiness.

Ooof, you're a warmonger now. (I'm assuming the genocide refers to you wiping her civ off the map.) You're not going to recover from that. Even the celtic banshee will hold it against you. You're on your own from here on out.

How far along did Theo get with the Theology buildings? Usually she's pushing them hard. It's good you got the cap for that faith/religion, hopefully she picked something good for you.

Depending on what turn you're at, you might be able to go back to a calm playthrough. However, you're going to do it trading off luxs at near half-cost and without a lot of CS bonuses. Given that you're isolated, you can't go full-on warmonger without some difficulties. It's going to be a tricky path to victory. Wiping out Theo put the UN option out of reach.

All of which points to putting on the lab coat and doing it for SCIENCE.
does she draw new eyebrows every morning herself

Look how interested you are.

I know
I'm fascinated by it really
What is the process of doing something like that to your face?

Cuz its not just that black stuff chicks put on their lashes right
its like a whole eyebrow transplant

Theodora's faith was awful; Boudica's going to be dominating that on the continent. Someone else picked up Petra, so I can't try and get that up in Constantinople.

EDIT: Ahaha, war with the Celts.
I've changed my user title to better reflect Leda's mannerisms.

You've got to be well past T120 or so by now, right? Where are you at with production of Universities and city growth? I'm sure the unhappiness is not helping in terms of getting your Universities stocked with specialists.

I'd cool your heels for a bit on military and wonders (re: Petra, etc.). In a focused game, there would've been post-Classical era wonders you could hard build, but now that your production and infrastructure are all over the place, just try to get your pop up for specialists while getting necessary science buildings in place. Then look to get your hammers up.

That's just how I'd play it. Warmongering doesn't sound feasible. Science is the most sensible way, you just have to hope Boudicca doesn't get pissy. I'm going to turn in, but if you get a chance, throw out an update sometime soon.

Also, did you save the T0 map? If so, I'll PM you for the save file, I'm curious to see what happens if you set Akkad down for the Petra. I've never been in a Theo/Boudicca sandwich before. Could be a very sexy meal...

Turn 138. Lots my shot at Petra. Had to annex Constantinople so I could rush Walls of Babylon to protect it from Boudica's attack. Got a couple universities up and I'm working on an observatory in Babylon. Gonna set the game down for the night.

EDIT: I also have Great Library, Oracle, Hanging Gardens, and a National Epic in Babylon. I have produced two Great Scientists, both of which are now academies at my capital, a Great General (Vercingetorix, a Gallic chieftain who fought Caesar), and a Great Artist, who I used on a Golden Age. Dur-Kurigalzu is focusing mostly on maximizing gains from its sea resources. My army consists of a catapult, a swordsman, a pikeman, and a couple composite bows.
