GGT 69 Wants to Party all the tim3!
Exactly.
Love the platform (just wish the marketplace would catch up to app store so that game developers would put some fun time wasters out, like Peggle or PvZ; angry birds would help if it my phone could run it... ).
Well that's the problem of droid being google software on multiple phones.

It's not a unified platform. The openess is what makes the l33t hacker types lover it, but it keeps it from having as robust an app store etc. as there are different versions of Android out simultaneously, different phone makers putting different UIs on top of it etc.

Vs. the iPhone where the one positive of Apples excessive control is that it is a unified OS.

I'm still not sure I want/need a smartphone, but if I get one I'd probably go iPhone as I just want something simple to use and with as robust an app store as possible.

For something like Tablets I doubt I'll go the iPad route as I want something more open and customizable. For phones I don't really give a shit since my uses would be very basic--calls, texts, e-mails, net browsing and time waster apps (mostly news apps probably).

Odds are I'll just get another regular phone though as I really just wouldn't use the internet and e-mail etc. enough to pay for a data plan. Which you could get iPhones and/or Droids to just use the wifi for apps etc. an basically have an iPod touch with phone capabilities.
If iPhone is really on VZW, then that spells trouble for droid because all the people who would've went droid and maybe even loved it will end up going iPhone instead.
Iphone on VZW is a done deal. We're just waiting on Verizon to make it "official".

And yeah, Droid being so wide open isn't doing it any favors in the app department. It's ironic since you'd expect there to be more apps, but people don't want to be stuck just making free shit, they just need to get paid.

Fragmentation kills the marketplace for the android. It's almost a joke.
iOS platform is definitely king.
WP7 is still a newborn.

Guess what? Windows isn't a unified platform either. And yet PCs dominated the market with various versions of Windows for how long? ;)

Popcap says they're bringing games to Android this year, so we'll see if they use the Google Marketplace and what they bring. I'd go Android again in a heartbeat if Sprint of AT&T have something I dig when I can finally escape VZW. :D

True, but versions of Windows stay around longer than versions of Android, so you tend to have long stretches with the majority of the market on the same version of Windows (especially when factoring in OSs like ME and Vista that never caught on).

And they have mostly been pretty good about software compatibility across versions etc., with some notable exceptions of course.

Really though, I could care less about Droid vs iPhone. They're just damn phones, not something I'm using all the time like a PC (which is why it's probably silly for me to even think of getting a smartphone)--I just want something that's super easy to use and has a lot of options and right now the iPhone has the edge on that front.

But the fragmentation is an issue for sure in any case. If droid is really going to compete with the iPhone, it will probably take Google partnering with someone to make a killer phone (somethign better than the Nexus phones) and supporting it like the iPhone--i.e. only one version of the OS out and supported at a time.

The actual phone capabilities of these phones are the same.
And if that's all you want, there's not a good reason to get a phone with an expensive data plan.

Speaking of tablets, after getting my iPad a couple months ago. I've hardly touched my thousand dollar laptop save for a few things I can't do. I absolutely love it. Can't wait for the next one with cam for Skype and other video call use.

Exactly. I mean I'd use apps to read the news, play some games etc., but that's just not worth the data plan. I'd get one if I could get a non-hacked one without a data plan and just use that stuff on WiFi.

The iPad is great for web surfing, apps etc. (the ex had one), but I'm waiting for something closer to a tablet PC--but in the same form factor, battery life etc.--as I also want to do some work related tasks on it that just aren't ideal on the iPad with it's walled garden crap and design as a multimedia tablet rather than a work tool.

i.e. bigger screen for working with documents, stylus for marking up documents, an accessible file system so I can just drag and drop into folders rather than using the cumbersome work arounds on the iPad etc.

So I'll probably wait a couple years until we start seeing some good windows tablets/slates with those features and 8-10 hours battery life etc.

But for multimedia use only, the iPad is great and I prefer it to a laptop for net surfing (also keeps me from wasting so much time on forums due to lack of keyboard!) and reading news, magazines etc. Nice for watching Netflix in bed as well, vs. having a hot laptop with a cord in the way etc.

I'm slowly trying to convince myself to get an iPad. But they are really damn expensive. What version did you get?

Speaking of smart phones, Im really shocked there isn't an android/wp7 player similar to the iPod touch. Seems like an easy way to make extra app revenue.

Yeah, same. That market could be very lucrative.

Shit, one reason I want a new phone is to use it as an MP3 player, since my current Creative Zen Xtra is a giant brick and like 6 years old.

At this point, wait for the next version which will probably come out spring or summer I'd guess.

Decent chance they'll keep the price tiers the same, but drop the 16GB model and sell the 32GB for that price IMO. Plus it should add a camera for Skype etc.

Plus a lot of Android and Win 7 tablets coming out, so you'll have more options to look over by then.

The leaked iPad 2 cases seem to indicate that there will be a camera facing outwards at least.

Mass Effect 2 is not helping my backlog. And miranda will never forgive meeeeeeee

lollllllllllllllllllll @ the 'Android is fragmented' argument. People keep older iOS devices longer than they keep older Android devices. Talk to me when a 3G iPhone can play the Cave shooters.

That said, once the iPad2 is released, all the Android tablet options leave me cold. Unless HP shows a decent webOS tablet, I'll be in line with the rest of you iSheeple for the lowest WiFi option when they release.

My biggest problem with tablets is every manuf/carrier trying to get me into ANOTHER monthly data plan. They can go fuck themselves, I got an Android phone that will give me free tethering, so give me a WiFi only tab or go fuck yourself.

Not by most posters in the GGT, buddy.
At least I think a lot of guys in here were going to go for it on PS3.

I'm not joking. I LOVE kpop!

Also, yay JSP is gone again!

Well honestly, who would want a fighter on the 360?
Well honestly, who would want a fighter on the 360?
The only plus for me between the two is that if I got the CE and used the code to get Jill/Shuma I could still eventually purchase a bundle pack.

fuck YOU PSN. I'll certainly be calling to request a partial refund to my PSN wallet after purchasing the content.
Man, I am going to get destroyed when MvC3 comes out.
Nah, we're all starting out on equal ground for MvC3 since none of us have played it. It's not like it's going to be a true sequel to MvC2 fighting engine, it just seems to borrow some stuff from it, imo. This is based purely off of my observations and it looks a lot more beginner friendly.
Not by most posters in the GGT, buddy.

Yea, I'm getting it on PS3, I've already made it my designated fighter system. Well, unless Sony can't manage to control all the inevitable cheaters on PSN due to the recent exploits.
Well honestly, who would want a fighter on the 360?
Only place to get Garou and 98UM (other than PS2), even if it has shitty online. Sometimes it has the better versions of fighters, other than that, I dunno.

Seriously though guys, give that link a read, it won't take long. Just give the basics a read at least, not like it'd hurt anything.
I read it, distgfx. Didn't understand much, but I think I grasped the basics.
Based on what I've read of the MvC3 gameplay, I still believe Blazblue offers a little bit of help in the control scheme. At least in the parallels between type B and the default MvC3 layout with the way lights cancel into stronger attacks. Then again, I'm insane. I'll have to remember to remark on if it was total bullshit or if I still feel it's similar after I play some MvC3. :dunce: ;)

Good enough, I'm not asking you to know more than the basics. As long as you've got that down, that's fine. They're two different games (MvC2 and MvC3) anyway, but seem to share the same basics. HeavyD knows more about this than I do since he's really good at MvC2 and has actually played MvC3, lol.

It's not "lol" at all. That's why the Android marketplace is so damn weak. I don't even know how many different Android phones exist (a quick check shows just under 100 different models). Devs have to test for so many different configs from hardware to OS version. That's why Angry Birds has like 2 or 3 different builds of varying quality so that it can run on different phones.

With iPhone, it's pretty cut and dry what will and what won't run.
And 99.5% of the games on iOS will run on every iOS device so far. The few games that won't run I can count on 1 hand unless I'm really missing some.

I actually agree with dallow on this one, it's a lot harder to make shit for a market with god knows how many phones using that OS instead of... what, 3 or 4 models of apple's crap?

And really, unless I'm sorely mistaken, it's like 5 games including a tech demo that don't play on on the 2+ year old iPhones.
Content is king, and that is where iOS is right now, can't deny that.

Yep, as much as I dislike Apple, I have to admit that the iOS just has far more/better games.

I'm denying it because I hate Apple. fucking i$$$s...

I don't even love Apple or anything, I just know iOS content is the most full featured and has what I want/need. Everything else is really lacking.

Apple $$$s have money and Capcom knows it, they're smart when it comes to milking shit for money.

I'll admit , many years ago I really wanted to be a apple user. The whole "ease of use" thing and the sleek design really drew me in , but alas the higher prices drove me away.

For phones I have my Incredible as my smartphone , and my iTouch for the apps , all bases are covered.:)

As for the "who is buying MvC3 for the 360"? That would be me. That amazon coupon from the Dead Rising 2 fiasco is too good to pass up. Although I wouldn't necessarily pass up the chance to trade out the 360 version for the PS3 version once it actually comes out.

My lady friend is dead set on a new Mac Book Pro. I told her to wait for the refresh with the Sandy Bridge CPUs.
I gotta admit, it's gonna look a hell of a lot sexier than my PC laptop.

Love that unibody.

Woohoo!! Finished up Alpha Protocol :D Damn, it actually turned out to be a good game, minus framerate issues and screen tearing. But near the end, I found it difficult to put the game down. There's still some unanswered questions, but overall, I'd recommend everyone at least give it a try for how cheap it can be obtained.

The pistol perk at max (where it freezes time) is god like in AP. Bosses had no chance against Micheal Thorton.

Decent game, but I had no intentions of revisiting it after one play through (youtube has my alt endings). As fictional as the story was, they should have just went bonkers with it a bit more. It was like it serious main plot, but all the characters were completely crazy. A very Metal Gear type, but should have had more LOL moments.

Steven Heck was my best friend.
