I don't head to EB too often, but when I do, I am guaranteed to hear something amusing, and my last visit was no different. I wanted to pick up a copy of Dark Cloud for $3, but apparently that deal is over, and the price now is $13. I said I'd pass, but the clerk tried to convince me that I should really consider getting it. He even went so far as to say that it wouldn't be a GH if it wasn't great. Now I know that many of the GH games are good, but isn't it misleading to generalize that all GH games are great when the red banner indicates sales, not quality? Aside from Enter the Matrix with all of its bugs, I know that Crazy Taxi was going for $10 for a while, but as soon as it sold the necessary number, it got the GH label and went up to $20. Sorry to rant, but it just bothers me that someone would make such a generalization in a feeble attempt to sell one lousy game.

Well, you're right about the sales part. But, they couldn't always sell tons of copies if it wasn't, in general, a good game (excluding huge names like Final Fantasy, where everyone will buy it no matter what). People's words and opinions spread fast and affect sales.

Nonetheless, Dark Cloud was a good game.

I don't know if this applies to EB, but a lot of these guys get commission on what they sell and it can add up. My friend does this type of stuff all the time when he's working at Play It Again Sports. He was asked to sell as many ski helmets as possible, so he talked about how he would crash into trees when he would snowboard to scare parents...

well i dont think eb's employees get commision cause i've never had a problem with them bugging me to buy a game. infact this one day i was in eb with my friend when this women walks in who barely knows anything about video games (doesn't know what an xbox is or a ps2). anyway she walks over to the counter where she picks up the n-gage on display and starts playing, after a while she was interested and once the employee told her it had a cell phone and stuff she was ready to buy it. instead the employee told her that the n-gage was a piece of crap and she'd b just wasting her money. now that shocked both me and my friend, to hear a salesman being honest and not try to rip off a customer over a sale.

Lol, the funny thing about that thread is that it's true because it really is a piece of crap.
But it's good to know all salesmen aren't corrupt. I wish more of them around my area were like that.

I'm sure there's more than your fair share of crap Greatest Hits / Platinum Hits titles. Just off the top of my head, Simpsons Road Rage is a GH title, and it's pretty poor.
